Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadow ($4.99) is a fairly new cream shimmer eyeshadow that launched with the Midnight Mermaid Collection but later became part of the brand’s permanent collection and also became available in a wider selection of shades.

These seemed like a nice, cheaper option to the Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadows that I love so much so I decided to grab a shade and try it out for size and see how I did with it. I never tried the original shades from the Midnight Mermaid Collection because none of the colors appealed to me but they have some newer shades available that are much more wearable like Cashmere Love which is a pretty smoky taupe.

Let’s take a look!

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadow arrived in a clear barrel which holds 0.12 oz of product and comes in eight shade selections as well as three additional limited edition shades that launched with the Goth-O-Graphic Spring 2018 Collection.

I think of the first things that’s noticeable about this formula is the fact it is laced with shimmer, lots of it. It’s actually a very refined shimmer but still if you hate shimmer it might be one you want to avoid. Between the two, Stila does have more shimmer but Wet n Wild comes up a very, very close second. This formula is a little less chunky compared to Stila’s version and it’s a little thinner texture wise. I have to admit I still prefer Stila’s version over Wet n Wild’s but this is a great alternative if you aren’t wanting to dish out the bucks for Stila’s version.

This formula felt a little tiny bit difficult to work with. I had to pile color on and gently pat it into place and pile another layer on to get the smoothest finish as I experienced some patchiness during the blend. I went in with three layers to get the pigment to show up because initially it was mostly shimmer and no color. It also remains wet for a while which I wasn’t keen on since I had to curl my lashes and apply mascara and doing so prior to allowing this time to set does cause a mess. You might want to do your other makeup as you allow it a few minutes to set. The wear was solid for me but I do have drier eyes and I suspect oily lids might not really do well with this. I didn’t have issues with creasing but I did have a bit of glitter that fell on my face within the first five hours of wear. It wasn’t too much of an issue but it was noticeable. I imagine someone with a more oily lid will experience issues with creasing.

At $4.99 each you can’t really beat the price and I do think they are worth checking out. Honestly, if they don’t work out as an eyeshadow they will work out beautifully as an eyeshadow topper to use on top of your favorite eyeshadow formula to add a little glitz and glam.

I’d totally buy more of these even though they are a bit of a chore to apply.

Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadow are available at ulta.com.

Overall, Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Liquid Eyeshadow offer a more affordable way to try out a shimmery liquid eyeshadow much like Stila’s popular Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow but the application isn’t as easy and does need a little TLC to get down just right but at this price you can afford to try at least one shade out for size to see if you love them or not!

Available at ulta.com.

Pros

  • Tons of shimmer which means shimmer lovers will adore this!
  • Takes a little work to blend well but looks beautiful when it is on.
  • Very affordable at $4.99 per shade.
  • Works as both an eyeshadow or an eyeshadow topper.

Cons

  • Anyone who hates shimmer should avoid this formula.
  • Anyone who doesn’t have the time to blend well and wait for a product to set.
  • Anyone seeking a dupe of Stila’s Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow. This isn’t quite it.

Who

Anyone that loves shimmer is going to totally dig this formula. Although it does initially apply with more shimmer that color it can be built up quite nicely so the color you see in the barrel is the one you’ll get on your eyes. It also works a treat as an eyeshadow topper as well.

I bought one of the purple ones with the Goth collection and like it. However, Stila’s formula is much better.

It looks great on you Muse!! Too shimmery for this ol’ gal but it’s very pretty! And I wanted to say – I like the new layout and design of your website!! and now I want a pina colada, and I wish to yell it *would* rain… It’s drier than a popcorn fart here this year, unlike the last several years that have been quite well watered… 🙂

I use a brush and use them as a liquid eyeliner. The only thing I don’t like is that they are hard to find. You need a *good* Wet’n’Wild display to find them.

This looks gorgeous on you! It’s going to be a hard pass for me since I have oily lids but I’m jealous based on the look you posted.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Tracy! It’s so cheap maybe give it a go it might work out for ya who knows 😀

I’m glad you mentioned the dry time – formulas that need time like that to dry are one of my huge turn-offs. Even if it weren’t for the fallout and sheer/patchy coverage I would hate this based on dry time. Thanks for this review!
