Blah. How freaking boring. A warm neutral palette. One blush. I love Tarte, but I’ve been underwhelmed a lot lately. Well, for the last year or so. But their foundations are my favorite.

    • Isabella Muse

It didn’t look neutral to me!? Looks like some pretty pinks in there ;-D I sort of like it to be honest!

      • Kish

I’ll wait for your swatches haha. I just feel like I have 3 or 4 other Tarte palettes they look like this, from QVC autodelivery sets. And the rest of the collection is a bit juvenile I think. But, the reality could be that I’m just getting old lol

        • Isabella Muse

I sort of like it tbh but I totally feel you! When the promo images wear off you start thinking to yourself, “Oh yeah I have that shade already!” I felt the same about the recent Spring Collection. I was an angry old lady about it lol! So over mermaids!

  • kjh

Fairies are logical; after all they’re the mermaids of the earth and air, and have been known to ride unicorns. And their child, the Pegasus, should be up next. Then, continue the equine theme with carousels. Whatever. Way too old for these themes, though they are cute, and lend themselves to cosmetics easily. Didn’t you say there was going to be a death to unicorns collection? The color story is in keeping with Tarte, but sort of a departure from the endless round of warm neutrals. The palette design is just a variation with rounded edges, good for mfg and size control. Nothing earth shattering, but it should have pretty wide appeal, esp considering what flop backtalk was, for a pink palette.

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not as annoyed with fairies as I was with unicorns lol! Unicorns were just so overdone to death ;-D So far, I’m pretty calm about it although like you I’m a bit old for these types of themes but for some reason it does seem quite cute to me. Let’s hope they don’t start shoving fairy everything down our throats as that’s when I’ll get irritated and call it a day ;-D Nothing earth shattering true, but the color have a nice pop! Although, I was thinking about it and the cranberries do seem like past shades but maybe it will be better than backtalk!

  • Jujubes

I think I might get the palette, it’s pinks and plums and looks so pretty!!

  • Christina

Overall, it’s a cute collection, except for the brushes. I am sorry, but those handles look like toys…they don’t really resemble magic wands to me (I’m assuming that’s what they’re supposed to be). They remind me of Jem–I think it’s the big star. Haha! I think I’m just getting too old for these types of packaging. I do like the pink and purple packaging, though, and sparkles are always fun.

    • Isabella Muse

YES! very Jem! First thing that entered my head when I saw them ;-D Me too! I feel a bit like an old lady with all this stuff lately. But honestly, I give them credit, this does look kind of cute ;-D

  • KimMWC03

It’s very cute! I may get the blush. I love that empty palette too.

  • Maria Esposito

The palette looks so pretty in the picture and in Instagram. However in person it is probably more brown s and light shades. The Aspynn palette looked pink from the picture but turned out more brown and nude shades

  • Michelle

I don’t care if it’s themed with unicorns, mermaids or fairies, I’m tired of all the glitter collections.
I do like that blush, however.

  • Susan

If it’s REALLY pink and plum I’d be interested. But the Aspyn palette looked very pinkish in all the tease photos, and then when it actually came out, guess what — all boring beiges and browns, just like 99% of what Tarte produces.

    Cautious optimism.

    • Isabella Muse

mmmmmmmmmhmmmm I said that in my review! Was shocked because it looked dusky pink!

  • Kristen

I love this collection! If the formula is anything like their unicorn palette, I’ll be scooping it up really quick! I love their limited edition collections and find myself always buying them regardless if I need them lol

    • Isabella Muse

I like the looks of it too! I enjoyed both the mermaid and unicorn one so I’m hopefully this is as nice 😀

  • Agona

I’m not really into flower designs for some reason. I actually decluttered the tarte’s unicorn and mermaid palettes recently. The unicorn palette I loved and loved having a colored glitter/shimmer palette but I found myself never reaching for it before I prefer darker crease colors. The colors in the mermaid palette weren’t unique to my collection and the bulky packaging was annoying to me. I probably would’ve hauled this one for the sake of hauling if I hadn’t decluttered the previous two, but it’s probably best that I didn’t because even though pink/red colors are on trend right now, it’s not my preferred colors to wear.

  • Carol G

This is pretty but will wait for it to go on sale like all the others do eventually!

  • Paige

Maybe this will be like the UD Backtalk palette but actually done well? It’s a shame though, Tarte has to know at this point that people are going to go after them because (a) this collection is at best a slight variation on the same rose-pink-beige color story they routinely put out there (b) the brushes aren’t practical to store and they look insanely childish and (c) that little magnetic palette? Is there any less useful shape than flower petals for a magnetic palette? An ampersand, maybe. Treble clef. That character they use to indicate the British pound.

Seriously, Tarte is going to take some significant flak for going cutesy in their theming again. People will cheerfully buy the blush and everything else will go on special sale by July 4. But..for everyone who was disappointed by UD backtalk, maybe this eyeshadow palette will save the day. We shall see – probably on this site! Looking forward to that review. I’m sure those colors will look great on you, Isabella!

Btdubs, absolutely LOVING the site redesign. It’s so thoughtful and user centered. I love what you’ve done with the place!!!

    • Isabella Muse

God I hope so! Backtalk was something I really wanted to love! I completely agree! I personally think they create these collections for instagram. basically, they aren’t concerned about storage of daily use. It’s about owning it and taking photos of it and tagging everyone yada yada. They create these collection to look appealing on instagram not so much for the everyday user. This in turn translates to sells for them! Aw shucks thanks Paige 😀 I hope they do!? THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU i’m so glad you like it. Was really concerned reader’s would hate it!

      • kjh

Tell It Like It Is. Muse’s cover of the Aaron Neville classic. Suspect I have enough CP to dupe this, and there’s always Backtalk. It may suck, but I still punish myself for bad judgment by using it. The brushes look like Dollar Tree fairy wands.

        • Isabella Muse

lol I totally laughed at I still punish myself for bad judgement by using it. This is so me!

    • Hazel

I like that Tarte is coming out with magnetic palettes, but I’m with you on the utter silliness of the flower shape. I have one little shelf for makeup, if it ain’t a rectangle it’s just gonna roll off that shelf and shatter into dust.

  • Heather

Guilty of buying the complete set. It’s so pretty and girly. 🙂

  • Dee

I’m really tired of mermaids and unicorns….this looks wonderful! I don’t usually go for anything like this but the colors look great in the palette. Hope the formula is good. Fingers crossed!

  • Janessa

I LOVE this packaging and will break my ‘no buy just for packaging’ rule for the first time in 2018!! I have to have the blush and palette. I love them.

  • Wendy

I ordered the palette and the blush. The brush are pretty, but impractical.

  • CarrieAnne

This collection looks super duper juvenile to me. It might appeal to someone who fancies themselves a Tarte collector. But I just don’t see the point. Their eyeshadows lately have not swatched or played great in store. I know so many people will probably say that everyone complains about how boring they are, they’re too neutral, too safe. I think they’re just getting away from what they used to do really well… Provide quality basics with a good skin foundation. Everything is full of glitter and just doesn’t speak to me now. Lots of other things to look at! 😉

  • Susan

Hey Muse, did you see that Face Candy has just come out with a real palette that looks like Tarte’s April Fool joke one, the one people have been begging for? All very cool tones, mostly blues. The joke’s on Tarte!

    • Isabella Muse

I did see it 🙂 Looks very nice! lol too bad tarte never did do that aqua palette!

  • Susan

Oh noes! Just saw the colors on Ulta’s web site and only one actually looks pink; the rest look very brown. If that’s true, let’s just kill Tarte now, shall we? Have a great weekend!

    • Isabella Muse

I know 🙁 it really does look like a bunch of browns again! Hope you had a good one 😀

  • Hazel

I have all the pink eyeshadow I can handle but I don’t have a baby pink blush (let alone one in a sparkle stars compact) and I have Ulta points burning a hole in my pocket. Any idea if and when this will be available in Ulta stores?

  • Nikki7434

I need the blush!! Considering the eyeshadow palette too…. not that I need anymore eyeshadow LOL I don’t have any pink though…. Think I’ll wait for your swatches and a sale to really decide (but definitely picking up the blush… plus a few backups)! ^_^

    • Isabella Muse

Would you believe I skipped on the blush!? Was worried I’d have a dupe of it already in my stash of a million tarte blushes!

  • Stephanie

Does anybody know when this releases at Sephora?

I know it’s available on Ulta.com now… but I’m stubborn and paid for my year of Flash shipping!

    • Agona

I have flash shipping and I’m in need of replacing my HG mascara (my open tube is less than fresh, LOL) but I feel ridiculous ordering just 1 tube of mascara even with free flash shipping. …maybe I’m making excuses for a bigger cart. 🙂

  • Liza

I love tarte palettes. I could see this going well with my make believe in yourself and dream big palettes. I really hope that it’s more pink shaded and not neutral based. I went to sephora looking for it to test, but was disappointed that it wasn’t there. I may just buy at Ulta, since I love their return policy, but tarte also sent me a code. I love the packaging as always!

  • Sophilia Thompson

Do you know when this will be available in store at Ulta/Sephora?

  • Bonnie

Ok I’m late to the party here, but I just saw this on Sephora and had to come here for the review. Thanks for letting me know there’s metallics – which equals a big NO. It would be so cool (both ways;) without those metallics. Sigh…
