Colourpop Expands Line at Ulta

Colourpop I Think I Love You Eyeshadow Palette

Colourpop randomly dropped off the face of Sephora’s earth but they are still readily available at Ulta and have expanded the collection today to include 23 Super Shock Eyeshadows as well as other offerings such as Creme Lux Lipstick (which is freaking amazing), the Fortune Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette, and more.

It’s nice to see them expanding and I hope to see more offerings in store as well! I don’t there’s any real benefit to having the brand at Ulta since Colourpop has plenty of really good sales all their own. However, it would be nice to see more stuff in stores as I think that Colourpop’s photos and swatches are great but notoriously inaccurate due to really bright lightening. I swear I’ll buy something that I think is pink and it’ll arrive and be brown.

I have to admit I had no idea Colourpop’s existence at Sephora would be so short. It seems like I was the only person that didn’t know it was just a limited engagement thing. It seemed utterly pointless as they were on the site for like six months with very few items available and disappeared very quickly. Considering how much it costs brand’s (look at what happened to OCC after it left Sephora) to be sold at Sephora I would think Colourpop wouldn’t even bother. Don’t get me wrong, Seed Beauty, Colourpop’s parent company, likely has the money to splurge for such a venture but it seems pointless to waste capital like this as they already have good exposure and really don’t need Sephora’s help for “discovery” so to speak!

None the less I think, Ulta is getting more and more Colourpop options in stock which will prove even better if these options also hit stores.

How do you feel about Colourpop at Ulta?

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. I never thought it made sense that ColourPop was at Sephora and was surprised that it wasn’t at Ulta! It seems much more at home at Ulta.

Haven’t done CP @ Ulta, but usually have prescored at CP.com. Ulta’s stuff usually exists in the CP offerings; Sephora’s seemed to start at Sephora first, and then later be released at CP.com. Much as we want to accrue U points, chances are that we already acquired it at CP. That’s my downside of CP at U. CP at S was a joke. At U for me, it will likely become a way to bump up to free shipping, the perennial and quotidian issue with an Ulta shop. And no, CP needs zero partnerships or alliances for greater visibility. Maybe some newbies could be introduced via Ulta, but CP rocketed from nowhere to total mainstream in a nanosecond. They eclipsed MUG, and have yet to have any of the MUG problems/issues.

I want to jump on the CP bandwagon, but it seems like the shadows and lippies are mostly very warm-toned! I’m cool to neutral at best so I find a lot of their stuff doesn’t work well for me. Does anyone have any recs for nice cooler shade? Or am I the only one who has noticed this?

    • Dee

Hi Sarah! Ulta.com has the new ColourPop ‘Fame’ eyeshadow palette. That palette has cool toned colors that you may be looking for. :-).

      • kjh

Dee…I really don’t call it cool. It’s cooler than Fortune, UD Heat, etc,but is a cooling leaning neutral at best. It also has a preponderance of light shades, and probably wouldn’t cut it, for darker than medium tones. Plus, only 2 deepening shades. Also warm vs cool is a very relative/subjective thing. As a person who does not consider herself particularly cool any more, 90% of the foundations I can try look yellow. Not too warm, yellow. Personally, I like this palette quite a bit, but i’d never agree with cool, only relatively cool. Sarah…make sure you read Christine (Temptalia’s) review for a breakdown of shades, performance. Fame is an easy palette for looks, but it is fairly one note. Just happens to be my note!

Thank you kindly KJH, I was only going by what was described on Ulta’s site for this palette. I appreciate you giving your point of view. I have indeed learned something new today. 😉
(P.S.-I am also going to check out Temptalia’s review of this palette.)

Thanks ladies! I will check that one out, along with the swatches!

Hi Muse! I was looking over all the new items at Ulta.com today & bought a few drugstore items (Flower Beauty Blush Bomb, Burts Bees Moisturizing Liquid Lipstick), and decided to check for any of the new upcoming eyeshadow palettes from Maybelline or Loreal. Ulta does have the Maybelline Soda Pop Palette! I grabbed it in a heartbeat! — Unless I missed it, I don’t remember it even being in the New Arrivals? Strange Ulta has it, but didn’t promote it in that category yet. Anyways, the LOreal Berry one is not there as of yet,, but I keep checking in case it pops up. Just wanted to give a heads up! 🙂
    Have a wonderful weekend!!

I like that they are at Ulta, but I think I honestly have almost everything there already, except that new highlighter palette. I order all of the time from their site and have never had any issues, the shipping is getting a lot faster, my last two orders shipped the next day after I ordered. And with only $30 to reach free shipping, it’s easy. I love the brand and I’m glad some stores have it for people who are hesitant to order sight unseen.

I strongly disagree. I was introduced to Colourpop BECAUSE of Sephora. The Free Flash shipping option Sephora offers was a no-brainer for me to try a $5 Super Shock Shadow. I wasn’t expecting much, but MY GOODNESS!! Probably the best eyeshadow I have ever purchased!! I think Sephora helped to give Colourpop a little boost. Perhaps that is why it was such a limited engagement – to get the brand known more to the masses. It worked. I regularly shop their website for new shadows.

awesome! Honestly colourpop has such a strong following I feel like Sephora didn’t really add anything to this but cool you found it because of Sephora ;D

  • Silvia

I didn’t even get to see Colourpop at Sephora. That was a quick visit! Lol! Yeah, doesn’t make sense and Sephora’s stuff is way pricier. Colourpop stands awesome on its own I love each and every eyeshadow I have purchased from them the super shocks or powders. Just awesome quality and real color payoff. Need to try a few blushes and other things! Glad they are at Ulta now makes more sense to me.

Off topic, but what gives with Yankee Candle??? I keep trying to find out info on their Halloween collection, but the sales person at my local store said they stopped doing previews because they want more secrecy??? How can I plan my fall candle purchases??? Very frustrating.

    • Isabella Muse

oh I know right? Follow the Boney Bunch Love group on FB they always have the latest deets! They said the preview is next week ;-D
