Almay Lip Vibes Looking A Lot Like Sephora Lipstories

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Almay Lip Vibes Lipstick ($7.99) launches in 24 glorious shades for Fall 2018 but why am I feeling like they look a lot like Sephora #Lipstories Lipstick!? Maybe the colorful barrels? But unlike Sephora’s version these lipsticks are destination inspired but more about motivation. Each lipstick has a colorful barrel with an inspiration quote like, “Worry Less!” and “Be Fearless”.

The lipsticks are available in matte and cream finishes as well as two shades which act as lipstick toppers. What these topper shades do is unknown! Do they morph colors? Make them darker and lighter? Add shimmer? Who knows….! I’ll have to see these in person and see what it is exactly the toppers do.

It’s pretty amazing that they launched these in such an extensive shade range! I guess they are around to stay and will be part of the permanent collection. In other news, they are damn colorful for Almay who typically plays it packaging safe. Obviously, like most drugstore brands lately, they have their eye on a younger consumer with this launch!

Either way, I’m willing to check them out and see if they are worthy of your money!

What do you think of the Almay Lip Vibes Lipsticks?

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Hey, at $7.99 a pop, why not? I do like that Almay is looking fresher lately and offering more interesting products (including your post prior to this). Even if they’re targeting a younger demographic, I’ll bet this appeals more to everyone than their safe and rather boring packing that they used to have. Who isn’t attracted to more vibrant colours? As long as they don’t resort to childish packaging and they stick to their “hypoallergenic” moto, I think this is a good direction for them.

I saw a display in Rite Aid last week. I really dislike all the paper packaging that’s prevalent today, even for expensive eyeshadow palettes. However, Almay always made good lip products.

I don’t mind so much to be honest. The paper is recyclable which is a good thing 🙂

It’s great until the ‘huahua tries it on. My dachsie…the male…really enjoyed Deep Water Bay, even though it wasn’t his color. Thanks for mentioning the paper barrel. The S ones, the top tends to be less than fully connected to the barrel, and drops down a lot. These are very derivative, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I just saw this display at my local rite aid yesterday and thought the exact same thing about them being a lot like the sephora lip stories. and they feel exactly like the thick cardboard packing too. The colors I saw are beautiful in person. The display i happened upon only had I think 8-10 colors and not the whole selection as I just now saw on Ulta.com after reading your post. I was so tempted to buy a couple but couldn’t find any reviews or swatches let alone any mention of these. But now seeing all the other colors I think I may pick up a few shades from Ulta.

I really like what they are doing. The new glosses & now these lipsticks. Almay has always been very reserved makeup brand in my opinion. So this is great. The makeup industry has been changing really quickly so this is a long time coming in my opinion. I love the colours and I would have worn a few of them years ago. I’m more into Nudes now. I can still appreciate the beautiful funky colours that are coming out by all the brands.

I actually really miss the old Almay lip gloss. It was my HG gloss – thick but not sticky, super hydrating, lasted for hours on the lips (even through drinking) with a nice wash of color. I can’t wear any of the shades in the new gloss line – hate the metallic look. I just want a nice gloss I can put on without looking in a mirror and won’t get me weird looks at work, is that too much to ask, Almay? D:

Are you referring to the Liquid Lip Balm in the short chubby tube with the white neck band and gray top? I miss is too!!!! I still have some that I stocked up on when they had coupons out and I treasure them. Silly? Maybe, but I haven’t found anything like them yet. Muse did not like them.

Saw them on Ulta but then could not find any swatches for this product on YouTube or elsewhere. I don’t know why Almay would launch so many colors and not promote the item. I don’t want to buy them blindly in case they are too sheer or have so quality I don’t care for.

Just bought two and received them from ULTA. I immediately tried on the red one! Nice color payoff, applies easily and is wearing very comfortably. I also own some of the Sephora lipsticks and so far I think the Almay ones are wearing more comfortably. I am impressed enough to order a few more colors.
