Olay has several new Clay Stick Masks available and I picked up the Fresh Reset Pink Mineral Complex Clay Face Mask Stick ($9.99) which is formulated for tired, stressed out skin. Yup, totally my complexion at times!

I was a little skeptical about trying this because it does contain Kaolin clay which can be terribly drying in my opinion but seems to be one of the more popular ingredients in cream masks. But of course, curiosity always gets the better of me and the temptation of a mask that would restore my glow and ease my dullness was to great a one to pass up!

Masks sticks (and stick everything) has definitely become a thing in the drugstore world. Mid-range brands had their moment with the trend and products Tarte Frxxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser but the past year or so the drugstore has been very, very found of packaging up cleansers, moisturizers, etc into a handy stick form. It’s sort of a fun and unique way to package skincare I guess not to mention it makes it easier and mess-free for travel! Although, most of these “stick” items are more of an easy fix versus providing any long term benefits.

I was surprised to see most of the ingredients in this mask stick are quite beneficial and not the least harmful or harsh. Sadly, it does contain fragrance but that is lower on the list and to my nose it wasn’t powerful! It’s a subtle fresher floral scent that didn’t cause any issues for me! A lot of the items in here are hydrating such as water, glycerin, sodium stearate, and propylene glycol! This could explain why I safely used this without coming out of it feeling like my skin was two sizes too small!

As I mentioned above the mask was created to “transform tired, stressed out skin for a fresher look”. According to them it has a micro-polish formula that resets skin and refreshed it without drying it out. Sounds great right? They did come through on one of their promises and that’s the fact this did not dry me out at all in the least! But the rest of the promises? Well, those didn’t actually work out for me.

I picked this up two and a half weeks ago at Target and in that time I’ve used it about five times. It’s very easy to use! Twist it on, apply it to a dry face, and wait ten minutes before rinsing it off. At a glance, I was like, “Wait? Dry face?” I thought it would drag on my face as it didn’t look creamy. But it actually has a creamy, cool texture that smooths on easily! Slight problem though! Be careful how hard you press as there’s a tiny bit of graininess to the formula and I was swiping happily away when suddenly I felt like I dragged a stick pin across my face. Ouch! So, gentle and with light pressure apply the mask but don’t press hard! The application was fairly mess-free however, some of the mask did end up on the out lip of the barrel. You can either scoop that up with your finger and apply it to your face or wipe it away with a tissue.

At first the mask feels lightly creamy and cool but it does dry out a little as you sit around with it on your face and has more of a dry clay texture once you reach ten minutes. After ten minutes it rinsed easily off my face, didn’t leave a film behind, and I didn’t feel dry nor tight after use. I felt like my skin felt very so lightly hydrated and quite smooth.

Sadly, the fresher, reset look wasn’t to be. I didn’t feel like I noticed any visible changes in my complexion after using this. My skin wasn’t brighter, my dullness didn’t magically disappear! Shrug! I’ll keep using it until I finish it up but I’m doubtful I’ll repurchase it!

Oh well!

Where to buy

Target Ulta Walmart

Olay Fresh Reset Pink Mineral Complex Clay Face Mask Stick is a new 1.7 oz solid stick facial mask available formulated to restore the glow to tired, stressed out, dull skin. It’s quite lightweight, thin, and creamy with a cool feel when applied to skin. It does have some smaller grains which led to harsh scratching during application so use gentle pressure when applying. Application was mess-free and the swivel up design and barrel packaging makes for easy storage and travel! Sadly, I didn’t feel like it produced any visible results on my skin! I came out of the experience feeling smooth but not necessarily glowing! My dullness was still there and I didn’t feel like this did much to perk up my tired skin!

Hmmm.. when you wash this off, did you kinda scrub a bit to make use of the lil scrubby grains? I’m still kinda tempted to get this particular one… It just looks like fun, but if it’s a waste of $$, then, I’ll give it a big pass. 🙂

that’s the weird thing, there wasn’t any scrubby bits on my face! They didn’t really transfer to my face! But I most definitely felt a few in there! If it goes on sale and you snag a coupon why not!? maybe you’ll love it!
