L’Oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Ink for Spring 2019

L’Oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Ink ($11.99) is a new matte lip ink that’s launching in 12 shade selections for Spring 2019 at drugstores. I’m a little weary of these as they do promise a matte, weightless finish that has a stain-like effect but for me it’s just another round of long-wearing lipsticks which I’ve been trying to get away from for the last several years. I’m also a little concerned they’ll be as poorly formulated as the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink which got rave reviews but I felt like they were draining the moisture from my very soul.

I used to love lip stains several years ago! Anyone remember Morgen Schick? She was queen of cheek and lip stains in my humblest opinion! I’m not why I was so into stains but they were just my thing! I still love cheek stain to this day.

But I really don’t think products like L’Oreal Rouge Signature Matte Lip Ink are traditional lip stains. For me, they are just another long-wearing liquid lipstick formula and don’t really capture the essence of a true lip stain.

None the less, here they are and the promise of lightweight, comfortable, and a non-drying formula does sound great! I’ll be checking them out and letting you know what I think!

If you tried them already do share!

I wonder if they’ll be like the YSL Tatouge Lip Stain? I freaking love that formula, but it’s so pricey (and I don’t really like that YSL lip products have such strong fragrances).

The colors 2, 3, 5 and 11 from the top down are calling out to me. I have been steering clear of moisture and lip-life sucking liquid lipsticks. If it turns out to be as comfortable as bareminerals gen nude matte lippies, then I’d be happy. The drugstore has been trying to step up its game big time lately.

Agreed! I LOVE true stains. I used Philosophy’s until they discontinued it. :-(. It was great on my lips and cheeks. It lasted but was absolutely non-drying! Thanks for another useful and interesting review!

there are still many great stains around Heidi ;-D korean brands have a ton of more traditional formulas ;-D My pleasure but this isn’t a review just a post about the product’s launch ;D

Crossing my fingers that it will be a decent, affordable dupe for YSL Tatouage, which is the only long-wear formula that that actually lasts on me (and as a bonus, doesn’t dry out my lips until they look like an old prune). $37 is a really hard price to swallow for a lipstick, no matter how good.

I tried it! I picked the wrong color – “I Create” is *literally* the color of my lips so I can’t actually attest to how it wears because I really couldn’t see it wear off! Faint scent, but I think it’s inherent to the ingredients and not an added perfume. I am going to exchange this color for the next one “up” as it wasn’t drying or anything.

That is so funny because the Maybelline Superstays are the ONLY liquid lipstick that lasts on me, and believe me I’ve tried like 10-15 different ones on the market! 🙁 Even though I have a small army of Superstays I’m still tempted to try these, only because the packaginggggg dahling!! And that beautiful applicator that looks almost identical to YSL.

no doubt they have strong wear but they are tacky and dry as hell on my lips 🙁

You might try one of those old school long wear lipstick balms over the top. I think cover girl makes one as a stand alone. The Maybelline formula doesn’t smudge off when you use this type of balm over top but it takes away the sticky dry feel.

I found these at wallgreens a few weeks ago. Bought the red. Liquidy, and a little drying, but very light weight. I personally don’t mind liquid lipsticks, or my lips feeling dry, but these weren’t too bad. If you like moisture, they probably aren’t for you though. But much better than kat von d or too faced liquid lips.

I have given up trying to find a long-lasting, matte lip stain from a western makeup line. I was tired of the hyper dry feeling that they would leave on my lips. I have had better luck with the Korean brands of lip stain / long-lasting matte lip products. They are much more comfortable on my lips. The only thing that I have a problem with them is that it is not easy to remove the product. K beauty is all about the lip stain. Some of my favorite brands are LABIOTTE, LANEIGE, ETUDE HOUSE, PERIPERA. Most of these are available on Amazon or from reputable eBay sellers.
