L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Addiction Lipstick ($8) are a new satin lipstick that contains micro gold shimmer which launched late November. I don’t think a lot of people realized these launched or even know they exist! I was all about them as they reminded me of Avon’s long gone by much loved Color Rich 24K Gold Lipstick! I mean give me a lipstick with gold sparkle or shimmer and I’m all over it especially a red shade! Red with gold sparkle!? YES!

About the only thing wrong with L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Addiction Lipstick is the lack of shades and the fact they aren’t all that readily available. I got mine from Ulta’s website but as of now they have disappeared from their site and are only available at walmart.com. I haven’t seen these in any drugstores nor have I seen them in Walmart stores. They are advertised on L’Oreal website so, I’m left sort of clueless if they are permanent or limited edition.

L’Oreal packaged these in a matte black and gold ombre barrel that with the traditional gold clasp accent. Each lipstick is 0.13 oz in size and should set you back $8 or so dollars. Don’t quote me but I think I purchased them for $6.99 and Ulta had a BOGO at the time which made them even cheaper. I regret I only got two shades but thankfully enough I can get them on Walmart’s website which means I can add to my stash of shades!

I want to go so far and to say this finish is a subtle metallic in someways but that might be inaccurate. They do have very, very fine gold shimmer which isn’t terribly noticeable unless you’re REALLY studying my lips but I just loved the formula and the way they looked on. The gold shimmer seems to lend a little bit of a golden sheen or undertone to the shades which might be one of the other reasons I loved them so much.

The texture of the lipstick is soft with an easy, smooth glide and a lightly hydrating feel as I apply it. It’s very comfortable and wears for a solid five hours without migrating or feathering however, when my lips are drier I did notice that the color tended to fall into my natural lip lines giving it an uneven look. The colors are very pigmented and a single application (as seen below) provides opaque color. I thought the formula was very comfortable to wear and felt pleasantly moist and slightly slippery on my drier lips but the hydration factor faded after the initial hour of wear. The satin finish did have a very faint sheen to it which made the finish look even better in my opinion! Once the color fades this formula does leave tiny gold sparkle residue behind on my lips but it was easily wiped away with a tissue. I detected no fragrance nor flavor.

There’s just something really pretty about this lipstick. Maybe I’m crazy but even though the gold shimmer is barely noticeable I do feel like it lends a pretty gold tone to the shades which makes for a really pretty finish! This is particularly evident if you wear clear gloss on top! Below is a cotton pad I used to wipe the color from my lips! As you can see the sparkle quite obviously there but sadly, I didn’t think that quite translated to my lips however, you do get that nice golden tone somehow!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Addiction Lipstick are well worth a pick up! Great formula with plenty of pigment!

Where to buy

Walmart

L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Addiction Lipstick is a new lipstick range available in eight shades that’s 0.13 oz each which contains a fine micro gold shimmer. I wouldn’t say the shimmer was actual noticable on my lips but it did seem to lend a golden sheen or undertone to the shades I purchased for a very pretty effect. The formula was quite lovely and pigmented with an easy glide on my lips and a lightly hydrating texture. You do want to prep well though as I felt when my lips were drier that the had a knack for falling into my natural lip lines!

Pros

  • Pigmented!
  • Creamy texture that glided on smoothly and felt lightly hydrating.
  • Excellent wear without migrating or feather.
  • Not quite a golden shimmer but did have an almost golden sheen or tone!

Cons

  • Not available for purchase at many stores.
  • Only eight shade selections to choose from!

Who

L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Addiction Lipstick should be a great pick for those who love the Colour Riche Lipstick formula as this brings that fab formula as well as a nice golden tone to your lips!

OMG, I’m in love with Ruby Gold! I’m going to see if I can find these in a local CVS. If not, I will order from Walmart!

;-D let me know if you do! I had problems locating them in store 🙁

I just spotted these in store at Walmart! I still haven’t checked at CVS. By the way, this Walmart has all their makeup inside of locked cases now, so you have to ask an associate to unlock the case if you want to buy something!

I picked up all the nude/pink shades available and love them all so much! They feel so luxe for being a drugstore product. The only thing I don’t like is the shimmer/glitter residue on my lips after I drink or eat something. Only then is the sparkle noticeable but it’s not a difficult fix – just reapply the lipstick or top with a gloss.

yeah! the shimmer that’s left behind is sort of gross but aside from that I adore them ;-D they really are a great formula!

I have two of the lighter colors in this line – the blush gold and rose gold and I love them, but I find the glitter is a little more coarse (I can feel it when I rub my lips together). I do like them both very much and there is no detectable scent (unlike their standard line). I don’t like getting glitter on my partner though 😉

    • Isabella Muse

thankfully didn’t feel like the glitter was course but I hate how much is left behind when I wipe it off or it fades yuck! 🙁 Haha no one likes transferring glitter mouth to mouth!

Thank you for the mention of Avon’s 24K Gold lipsticks. Those were the bomb — so much so that I’ve hung on to my old (now rancid) tube trying to duplicate it. (Usually I can only duplicate the gold sheen with a wet looking gloss and the pigment payoff with a lipstick — unwanted trade-offs either way!)

I hadn’t heard/seen L’Oreal’s “Gold Addiction” collection, which is sad because I would have been first in line, otherwise. To be perfectly honest, I’ve grown tired over the years of the many pearl white or silver glitter type finishes, which aren’t the best complement to warmer skin tones. As a result, I wish these gold-tone options were available year around as opposed to just making a brief appearance every couple of years and then disappearing again!

These L’Oreal lipsticks are close to what Avon offered but like you point out the gold is very subtle until you go to remove it. To date, I’ve never found anything that quite matched Avon’s 24K “Pink” shade. (How I wish Avon would get a clue because the 24K Red-golds were fantastic for Winter/holidays, the Pinks-golds were great for Spring, the Coral-golds were great for Summer and the Brown-gold shades were fantastic in Fall!)

So here’s my question: To your knowledge is there anything else in a lipstick that comes close to Avon’s 24K Gold lipsticks in, say, pink?

If something comes along that is an even closer Avon 24K dupe, please let me know!
