Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick Review & Swatches
Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick ($6.99) is a new collection of matte lipsticks that launched for Spring 2019 that contains Monoi oil for a creamy, hydrating formula. Milani already has a selection of Color Statement Matte Lipsticks which makes me question whether we need another 17 shades but I was game to give the new Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick formula a whirl.
Here’s my thoughts!
Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick arrive in a rather slick black and gold packaging that holds 0.13 oz of product. I’m not really a huge fan of Milani’s all gold packaging which makes me a lover of the more chic yet simple black they went with on this new formula.
I compared the formulas of Bold Color Statement Matte and the older Color Statement Matte Lipsticks and there are a hell of a lot more ingredients in the old formula. But all in all, they both pretty much contain the same exact thing aside from a few oils that Bold Color Statement Matte includes like coconut oil where as old formula contains soybean oil. The differences are apparent though once trying the formula. I thought Bold Color Statement Matte was a bit creamier and felt a little more hydrating not to mention it’s less matte in finish. Both formulas have very intense pigment with opaque coverage on a single layer.

The touch more creaminess gave these a great texture. I also felt like the formula was lightly hydrating and not drying as many mattes are prone to. They had a smooth glide on lips and the color didn’t adhere to drier lips nor fall into my natural lip lines. The wear was around six hours for me and a bit of staining that was left behind as the color faded. I experienced no migration or feathering issues during the wear. Those sensitive to fragrance there is a subtle vanilla fragrance and flavor that’s thankfully not as strong compared to the watermelon scent and flavor of the original Statement Lipsticks.
All in all, Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick is a subtle yet nice improvement on the original formula and worth exploring if you’re a lipstick junkie!

Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick are a new round of lipsticks that launched in 17 shades for Spring 2019. Each lipstick is $6.99 each and 0.13 oz in size with a subtle vanilla fragrance and flavor. There’s not a lot of major changes in this formula compared to the original Color Statement Matte Lipstick Collection but I did think the subtle differences definitely made an improvement on the formula! I thought this formula was a bit creamier and lightly hydrating compared to the original and didn’t quite have a traditional matte finish but more of a lighter demi-matte one. The wear was excellent at six hours without migration of feathering issues and the color was smooth and flawless on my drier lips!

- Light flavor and fragrance might be an issue for sensitive users!
