Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick ($9.99) is a new stick foundation that launched in 20 shades inspired by the Conceal + Foundation that launched in 2016. Stick foundations seem the order of business for Spring 2019 as I’m seeing quite a few drugstore brands doing them at the moment! I just recently reviewed the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Stick Foundation which I quite liked but the formula was one of the better or creamier foundation sticks I’ve used and I’m left feeling the same way about Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick!

Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick is available in twenty permanent shades and launched for Spring 2019 on the brand’s website recently. I’m sure Milani has plans to launch at drugstores soon but as of now this isn’t available anywhere else aside from their website.

Milani promotes the foundation stick has have full coverage and a creamy, weightless texture that provides a lasting natural matte finish for 12 hours that’s transfer resistant and waterproof. It comes in an easy to use chunky swivel up barrel that can be swiped directly on your face. Or if you prefer using a brush you can swipe it across the top of the stick and apply using your brush.

I’ve always been a fond fan of stick foundations for two reasons. One of those reasons is the fact I like quick swipe and go foundation. I’m not really one that applies a lot of foundation. Typically, my foundation routine consists of a swipe down either side of my nose and I blend outward. That’s it. The second reason I like them is they are great for people who apply and blend with fingers and that would be me. I am quite happy that a lot of brands are currently obsessed with foundation sticks as it gives me plenty of options to play with.

Sadly, Milani’s version isn’t really all that great. This a really dense formula and lacks the creaminess one would associate with a foundation stick. It drags across skin when applied and you really need to put some elbow grease into things when blending it out. You really need a very well prepped and hydrated complexion for this to glide on because it completely lacks any creaminess or moisture of its own. It does blend seamlessly however, the blending process is a lot of work. The finish isn’t a traditional velvety or powdery matte but does feel quite dry but lucky enough didn’t adhere to the drier areas on my face. If you have oily skin you might actually like this formula and you may even get a better glide than I did. But as someone with drier skin this was simply not creamy enough for me.

The good news is it does provide very nice coverage that brightened up and evened out my skin tone. I wouldn’t say it had the same pigmented coverage that the original Conceal + Foundation formula does. I’d say you can get medium coverage at best which doesn’t oxidize and lasts for a solid seven hours without fading.

Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick wasn’t all that great a pick in my humble option. I do expect some creaminess from a formula like this to make it easier to blend and this foundation lacked that texture making it feel like I was putting way too much work into applying my foundation!

Where to buy

Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick is a new ten dollar foundation stick that launched for Spring 2019 in twenty shades that promises a creamy formula with a lasting matte finish that wears up to 12 hours. In my experience with this foundation stick it was far from creamy and had a dense texture that dragged across my skin and proved difficult to blend. The coverage it provides was sheer to medium when built up and was seamless with a smooth look that didn’t adhere to by drier skin but the fact that it was so difficult to apply turned me off!

Where to buy

  • Might prove a good pick for oily skin.
  • Very seamless coverage!

  • Dry, dense, drags on application.
  • Only available on Milani’s site not yet at drugstores

Oily skin MIGHT like the Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation Stick but those with drier skin will want to avoid this one!

Too bad this didn’t work out as I am always looking for a good stick foundation

One of my favorites is from L’Oreal! It is unbelievable how good it is. Lancôme has another (I believe they are owned by the same company?) and Makeup Forever. I love stick foundations. So easy and so great for travel.
