Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer Review & Swatches

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer ($9.99) is a new permanent multitasking foundation plus concealer formula that promises full, water resistant coverage. You might recall last Spring we had a Foundation & Concealer 2-in-1 Trend going on that led into Fall 2015 with the introduction of a variety of formulas that promises a multitasking foundation slash concealer formulas.

This started with the introduction of Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer and later on with the introduction of Tarte’s Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer.

Until now all has been quite on the “Foundcealer” sidelines until now! Milani Spring 2016 brings together a lot of new and exciting product releases and this new Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer is one of those releases.

Let’s take a look!

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer is available in a very wide range of 14 shades and comes housed in a glass pump bottle. According to the brand it’s ideal for combating under eye circles while reducing redness and other skin perfections.

For me, personally, it’s too much foundation. I have drier, duller skin that’s resilient and blemish-free. I look for a lightweight, hydrating foundation that sheer yet pigmented enough to brighten my skin and ease dullness. I don’t apply foundation all over my face nor do I apply it under my eyes (I use concealer under my eyes). Typically my foundation application is down he sides of my nose and spread outwards and down around my jawline. So a little amount gets applied down the sides of my nose and I use my fingers or a brush to smooth over my face. I really do, literally cringe, when I see youTube gurus applying heavy amounts of foundation with a Beautyblender. I just don’t need that sort of coverage personally.

I’m also of the mentality that concealer is concealer and foundation is foundation and one formula to do two different tasks never works. I’ve always selected a concealer shade that’s either one to two shades below my natural skin tone to add brightness under my eyes and also as a contouring tool of sorts under the hollows of my eyes towards the top of my cheekbone area. Unfortunately, I can’t get that effect if I’m using a foundation as the shade might be ideal for my complexion but will prove too dark for use under my eyes. That would be my issue with Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer as a concealer. I wouldn’t say this doesn’t work as a complexion concealer but under eyes it isn’t a good option. Not only was the Light Beige shade I choose to dark for use under my eyes but the formula is quite thick and has a satin finish. Under my drier eyes it felt heavy, dry, and it ended up creasing. It is quite pigmented but the heavier, richer texture just isn’t one I personally liked under my eyes.

As I mentioned above I don’t need this much coverage but if you’re looking for full coverage that wears long I think you’ll like this formula. This has a very thick, creamy consistency. It seems to blend quite well but more is less in my opinion. It’s quite pigmented so it should do well concealing a variety of different issues such as redness, acne, acne scarring, etc…..I thought it blended quite well but it did adhere to drier areas on my face as it sets to a satiny finish. A good moisturizing primer is key to getting this to look as natural as possible as I do feel like it has a very “made up” look about it particularly if you have drier skin. It is lightweight and didn’t feel uncomfortable on my skin and felt very breathable. It does wear like a champ even if you aren’t setting it with powder as I was able to get 8 hours out of without any issues of fading or oxidizing.

As I mentioned above this wasn’t great as an under eye concealer but if you have redness or darkness around your face or other issues you wish to conceal this is quite pigmented enough to cover those problems.

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer isn’t a foundation everyone is going to love but if you desire full coverage with a very long wear this should be a perfect pick for you. It should do well curbing shine and oil while giving skin a very smooth finish that’s weightless. For drier skin ladies and lads you’ll want to prep well prior to use for the best finish. As a multitasking foundation and under eye concealer I don’t think this does the trick but you’ll be happy with the coverage on your face.

Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer is launching now at drugstores or it’s available now at drugstore.com.

Wow, I’m quite impressed with the pigmentation on this, since most DS brands are really sheer. And it has yellow undertones too instead of the usual pink or orange, think it might be really good match for me during summer time. Will check this out.

  • Zovesta

Wow, this looks perfect for me, thanks! =D I was debating on whether or not to get this, but now I’ll definitely have to note it. As a result of having only one HORRID concealer, I’ve been using foundation as concealer, and I’ve had to use concealer as foundation in a pinch, so that’s no problem for me. I was just afraid this was going to be cakey. A satiny finish sounds beautiful. =]

You have to use very, very little otherwise it can be too overdone 🙂

      • Zovesta

WOW!! I got a chance to try this, and you weren’t kidding! This stuff is yellow, yellow, yellow! Everything else seemed fine by the swatch, but it was so yellow it was unusable on me, unless I wanted to look like I had jaundice. =/ I hate how most foundations are too yellow for me, but this… yikes.

        • Rachelle

Very yellow. Clogged my pores terrible also. Wore it one day and broke out. Not happy.

  • genevieve

I tend to agree with you Isabella that concealers are concealers and foundation is foundation. When a product tries to do too many things, it often fails in one or more of its objectives. I prefer medium coverage foundation and I don’t use/need a concealer so this product would not really work for me.

I just bought this one and I felt in love with it. I don’t really like yellow undertone because I am very white with pink undertones, but this foundation is the exception of my rule! The texture it’s very heavy but works great with my beauty blender. It lasts for hours and the price is perfect for a drugstore item. I will try to combine it with my clinique foundation, so it can be a little more pink(white) instead of yellow.

It’s a pricey investment, but The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops work really well with this foundation. Granted, it doesn’t do a whole lot with making the foundation too much paler, *but* it does help neutralize the warmer tones. I’m very neutral/beige, and I bought this in Creamy Vanilla, and the combination is very good (not perfect, but as close as I can probably get), and the drops don’t alter the application or wear of the foundation. I wore it out today, and walked over a mile, and it stayed flawless, didn’t oxidize, or settle in my pores. I also have drier skin, and prep/prime with oils, and it didn’t break down, at all, nor did it look cakey.

Overall, I’m very happy with this one, but if I repurchase, I’ll try Light Beige, since Creamy Vanilla is still too dark, and I have to add a lightener anyway, and the former looks like the undertone may work better for me. It also helps that I had $8 CVSBucks, so it was almost free, LOL!

Okay I need to pick this one up asap! I usually need a good foundation that will stays put for a good amount of time because of my long work hours and this looks like a good one! thankyou for the nice review love!will definitely give it a go soon!^_^

    • felicia

I luv to try this out on my oily skin but does do as well as Mary kay?

  • Fallon

I just bought this today. I need full coverage to help with my oily skin and acne scars. I love KVD but was looking for a good drugstore foundation too. I haven’t tried this yet but I’m hoping I will love it.

  • Yesenia

Totally allergic to this foundation!!! Never again I will use it!!!! Not cool.. I was soo excited when purchasing but now all just went down the drain!!

    • Heather

Please tell me what happened? How long did it take for you to see a reaction? I’m not sure if that is what happened to me or what it is???

      • Susan

I, too, react badly to this foundation, never have with any other foundation. I peel and my face becomes very sensitive to all products for 2-3 weeks. I was wondering if I was the only one with a problem.

  • Mabel

This is as close as I can get to the Ester Lauder Double Matte which was discontinued. TheI am dark with oily skin even at age 57. Spiced Almond is the perfect color for me and it worked well all day over my mattifying foundation silicon base from Sally Beauty Supply. Pro finish! I initially found it at Walmart but had to go to several different stores to find the correct shade and I bought them all when I did locate them! Great great product. Just the right amount of coverage for me and I finish it off with Clinique loose powder.

  • Denise Marie

You look for in a foundation what I also want. What are your favorites, please? Thank you!

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Denise! How are you? It Cosmetics CC+ Fluid, Sephora Wonderful Cushion, and the new Physicians Formula Cushion are some of my favorite foundations at the moment 🙂

      • Denise Marie

Thank you, Isabella! Please tell me your thoughts on the cushion packaging. From the looks of them it seems impossible to keep them clean. With compacts I usually apply some alcohol every now and again to disinfect their surface. I prefer pumps over compacts and tubes and bottles. Appreciate it!

        • Isabella Muse

Cushion makeup is tricky, it dries out rather fast and you do have to use it quickly to avoid bacteria, etc….typically I toss compacts after 4 months but by that time they are pretty empty as these compacts don’t contain too much. Avoid touch it and use the sponge it comes with to apply and that sponge can be washed/disinfected. Hope this helps!?

    • Denise Marie

I can’t answer that. But I can tell you that I’ve spoken to Milani reps in the past, and they are very easy to work with. Either e-mail them from their web site or maybe call directly. I hope you find your answer….I know it’s very frustrating!
