Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer Review & Swatches
Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer ($9.99) is a new permanent multitasking foundation plus concealer formula that promises full, water resistant coverage. You might recall last Spring we had a Foundation & Concealer 2-in-1 Trend going on that led into Fall 2015 with the introduction of a variety of formulas that promises a multitasking foundation slash concealer formulas.
This started with the introduction of Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer and later on with the introduction of Tarte’s Maracuja Miracle Foundcealer.
Until now all has been quite on the “Foundcealer” sidelines until now! Milani Spring 2016 brings together a lot of new and exciting product releases and this new Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer is one of those releases.
Let’s take a look!
Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer is available in a very wide range of 14 shades and comes housed in a glass pump bottle. According to the brand it’s ideal for combating under eye circles while reducing redness and other skin perfections.
For me, personally, it’s too much foundation. I have drier, duller skin that’s resilient and blemish-free. I look for a lightweight, hydrating foundation that sheer yet pigmented enough to brighten my skin and ease dullness. I don’t apply foundation all over my face nor do I apply it under my eyes (I use concealer under my eyes). Typically my foundation application is down he sides of my nose and spread outwards and down around my jawline. So a little amount gets applied down the sides of my nose and I use my fingers or a brush to smooth over my face. I really do, literally cringe, when I see youTube gurus applying heavy amounts of foundation with a Beautyblender. I just don’t need that sort of coverage personally.
I’m also of the mentality that concealer is concealer and foundation is foundation and one formula to do two different tasks never works. I’ve always selected a concealer shade that’s either one to two shades below my natural skin tone to add brightness under my eyes and also as a contouring tool of sorts under the hollows of my eyes towards the top of my cheekbone area. Unfortunately, I can’t get that effect if I’m using a foundation as the shade might be ideal for my complexion but will prove too dark for use under my eyes. That would be my issue with Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer as a concealer. I wouldn’t say this doesn’t work as a complexion concealer but under eyes it isn’t a good option. Not only was the Light Beige shade I choose to dark for use under my eyes but the formula is quite thick and has a satin finish. Under my drier eyes it felt heavy, dry, and it ended up creasing. It is quite pigmented but the heavier, richer texture just isn’t one I personally liked under my eyes.
As I mentioned above I don’t need this much coverage but if you’re looking for full coverage that wears long I think you’ll like this formula. This has a very thick, creamy consistency. It seems to blend quite well but more is less in my opinion. It’s quite pigmented so it should do well concealing a variety of different issues such as redness, acne, acne scarring, etc…..I thought it blended quite well but it did adhere to drier areas on my face as it sets to a satiny finish. A good moisturizing primer is key to getting this to look as natural as possible as I do feel like it has a very “made up” look about it particularly if you have drier skin. It is lightweight and didn’t feel uncomfortable on my skin and felt very breathable. It does wear like a champ even if you aren’t setting it with powder as I was able to get 8 hours out of without any issues of fading or oxidizing.
As I mentioned above this wasn’t great as an under eye concealer but if you have redness or darkness around your face or other issues you wish to conceal this is quite pigmented enough to cover those problems.
Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer isn’t a foundation everyone is going to love but if you desire full coverage with a very long wear this should be a perfect pick for you. It should do well curbing shine and oil while giving skin a very smooth finish that’s weightless. For drier skin ladies and lads you’ll want to prep well prior to use for the best finish. As a multitasking foundation and under eye concealer I don’t think this does the trick but you’ll be happy with the coverage on your face.
