NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder Review & Swatches

I decided to purchase the new NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder ($12) because I’m an idiot that already has a holy grail under eye setting powder but still requires moar makeup. Whenever I see a new banana setting powder I jump on it but typically nothing measures up to Hard Candy Sheer Envy Bake, Brighten & Set Loose Finishing Powder or Ben Nye Banana Powder.
This is a frivolous purchase on my part as I just hauled Fenty Beauty Pro Filtr Instant Retouch Setting Powder which I loved so, I really don’t need yet another setting powder. It’s silly to indulge as setting powder tends to last me positively ages as I only use it under my eyes and on a rare occasion on my face.
Not to mention NYX tends to release a slew of products that they they promote as new but really, it’s just the same item they already have in their collection already! Plus I already tried and really disliked their pressed HD Finishing Powder which had me a tiny bit wary to purchase Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder.

NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder arrives in a 0.21 oz plastic jar with a plastic top. It’s pretty much the traditional NYX black packaging that sort of reminds me of MAC. It’s a pretty small container if you’re comparing it to other drugstore brands which tend to have more product and at a price of around $7-$8. The packaging is awesome in some ways and a pain in the butt in others. You see they put a stopper on the inside of the lid which is great because it keeps the powder from spilling all over the place when the cap is on. However, this is a little bit of a pain if you’re used to sprinkling powder into the lid and swirling your brush in it. It’s also a little messy to sprinkle the powder into the lid due to this. I appreciate the stopper and in some ways it prevents a mess where as in others it makes one. It’s a can’t win situation with the packaging sadly!
They launched the powder in six shade selections and I hauled Banana since I tend to use a yellow powder under my eyes to set concealer. I actually loved this but the color wasn’t warm enough for me. If I use too much it can be pasty. That being said, I really liked the formula. I’m in the minority though as the reviews I’m reading really aren’t loving it.
I thought it was really smooth and very brightening under my eyes. I also tried using it on my face and again, super smooth and had a really airbrushed finish on my skin without adhering to drier areas. Thankfully, it isn’t a silica based powder which means it didn’t crease under my eyes and didn’t have a slippery feel. The texture was quite silky and matte in finish but not a drying matte! My dry skin felt like it was breathing easy wearing this as it was so lightweight.

I do wish it was a touch warmer but it really doesn’t brighten things up on my face and particularly under my eyes but again, I can’t stress enough that a little goes a long way to avoid a pasty or chalky look!
All in all, NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder was a good pick up for me. I really don’t need another powder but this formula was pretty darn good if you do need one at the moment!

Where to buy
NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Setting Powder is a new, lightweight silky setting powder that launched in six shades for Spring 2019. This is 0.21 oz in size and $12. I purchased the shade Banana for use under my eyes and felt like it was quite brightening with a smooth finish that didn’t crease under my eyes. On my skin it was equally brightening and didn’t adhere to drier areas. I do wish the shade was a touch warmer as if I use to much it can be pasty or chalky.
- Silky formula that isn’t slippery which sets matte but doesn’t look dry or heavy!

- Bit small for the price.
