Tarte Aquaflash Foundation Brush Is Proof They Aren’t Ready To Give Up The Dumb Brush Handles Quite Yet

If flamingo brush handles weren’t enough the Tarte Aquaflash Foundation Brush ($28) is proof that the brand isn’t quite ready to give up the dumb brush handles quite yet. Think about it, what you need in your foundation life now is a coral reef brush handle because holding a coral reef shaped brush while applying your foundation really makes it easier to apply your makeup (NOT!).

Sigh.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a hell of a lot more cuter than those flamingo brushes from the Holiday 2018 Collection but you really have to question what they are thinking when they launch this stuff. The actual brush head looks quite solid with densely packed bristles that will likely create a nice flawless finish when applying foundation. But the handle, god, the handle. It looks awkward to use and might be an issue grasping firmly during makeup application.

What do you think of the new Tarte Aquaflash Foundation Brush?

Cute or gimmick?

As for me, I’m over all this under the sea mermaid stuff that Tarte is so obsessed with.

It’s available now at Sephora.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Definitely a gimmick. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel! A good brush with a straight colored wand is fine.

ohfertheluvva…. STOP tarte – just stop already! How the yell would a person store this abomination??? It’d take up half the dang jar I have for my brushes – it’s ugly, its impractical, it’s just… so unnecessary.

Just gimme a well made brush on a blah, plain, (ok, maybe a sparkly) handle for a price that doesn’t break the bank. Is that too much to ask?

    Yeah, apparently so…. 😀

    Happy New Year, Muse!!

    • Isabella Muse

haha you know ITA Kim! Happy New Year dear! Health and Happiness ahead!

  • Maria

Dear Muse. You made my day laughing so hard. This brush handle is too ridiculous. I feel like Tarte creative team consists of girls between 10 and 18 years old. I would not be surprised if these brushes go on sale in 2 months.

  • Maria

Happy new year Muse! Ps. I think you are better off with Ecotools or Elf or real techniques brushes which are a lot cheaper and good quality for the most part.

    • Isabella Muse

Happy New Year! They do indeed make some great brushes, I wasn’t planning on purchasing this anyway 🙂

  • Rachel Coey

Omgoodness I was thinking the same thing! Common now. It’s just silly!

  • Wendy Sue

I would try to make a comment that makes sense, but I’m still laughing. bahahaqhahaha! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life. Snort.

It’s just overkill! Before it was cute now it’s like please no more!

  • lauren

Not going to lie, I totally bought the flamingo brushes on sale because I LOVE FLAMINGOS. And they are pretty nice brushes! But will agree, coral? that’s just …odd.

  • Robin

Maybe they are going to release a lot of brush styles? Like coral reef brush, bubbles, Nemo, a shark brush for Shark Week…. LOL

This is not for me, but I do like the IT Cosmetics brushes that have heart shaped or star shaped bristles. 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

LOL a brush for shark week! I might just buy that. I like the It heart shaped ones too!

  • Danielle

Okay, before I read anything, I just looked at the brush and thought it was something that you bought that came horribly mangled or damaged….. then I read the caption. LoL. Yes, so over the mermaid craze. Enough already!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL amen preach! enough mermaid and underwater bs! please! I’m over it!

  • Jan Kelley

Tarte’s new brush? Tacky junk. That is what I think. Maybe for a 14 year old. Tarte has turned me completely off with the cutesy junk.

  • Soup

These just look like my dog chewed them up. Tarte quit trying to make “fetch” happen, it’s never gonna happen.

Every time I look at these handles I can’t avoid the remind of the metal gavitronium from Marvel’s Agents of Shield (looooove this show).

  • Silvia

But I loooove seeing all these silly cutesy childish stuff. I really don’t buy them at their foolish price but won’t mind getting one as a gift especially mermaid anything! Oh I did get a few short mermaid brushes I found at TJ Max for my niece, daughter and myself. Lol! They are this flat but soft sort of kabuki brushesso cute and great to blend blushes, highliters.
