4 stars out of 5

I finally got around to purchasing Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil! Has anyone tried it? If you didn’t know Fourth Ray Beauty is Colourpop’s new skincare line that includes some fun, inexpensive basic skincare goodies that won’t break the bank!

I’ve been meaning to try the line for a while but for some reason or another I never got around to placing an order! I finally did and popped a few of the Fourth Ray Beauty goodies in my cart.

Here’s my thoughts and review on the Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil.

Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil is a fairly nice formula with some excellent oils and for those concerned mineral oil isn’t one! But sadly, it does contain juniper berry oil. This appears lower on the list but it still manages to give the oil a very strong, methanol herbal-like fragrance that might an issue for sensitive users. Plus, juniper berry oil isn’t something you want to apply on your face anyway. I have no idea why they ruined a perfectly good formula with that one ingredients as otherwise they have great oils in this formula such as grape, sunflower, and even camellia. Shrug…! Some snarky part of me thinks the packaging is ironic as I couldn’t find the ingredients printed anywhere? Yet they print on the box “No secrets, no surprises, no bs”….!

If you can deal with the juniper oil this is an excellent little cleansing oil! I’d liken the texture to my beloved Fancl Cleansing Oil as it has a thicker texture. It glides across skin easily and removes makeup very well including waterproof mascara. I was concerned it would be harsh on my eyes but it didn’t sting or burn nor did it create super cloudy vision. It also rinses cleaned away without over drying or stripping my skin! I didn’t feel tight after use in the least.

The original price is $14 (it’s on sale for $11 at the moment) for 4.2 oz which is disappointing as there are quite a few options out there that are cheaper and bigger in size like Palmer’s Cleansing Oil that’s 6.5 oz for $10. The thing that actually concerns me is the fact I can’t get it in stores. I wouldn’t mind the price so much if it was something I can easily access without having to pay shipping. This is an item I’d have to buy in bulk or buy each time I placed a Colourpop order which can be inconvenient. Cleansing oil is a product I run through fairly fast which means it’s one I want to have easy access to. Gone are the days I have to wait for an order from Japan or Korea as many of my favorite brands are readily available in the US and there are numerous ones at the drugstores nowadays as well.

Aside from a few issues, I did enjoy Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil and I would repurchase it when doing a Colourpop order.

Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil is $14 for a 4.2 oz bottle. This formula is loaded with some great oils such as grape seed and sunflower oils just to name two but sadly, it also contains skin sensitizing Juniper Oil which gives off a strong minty herbal fragrance that might be an issue for sensitive users. The texture is quite thick but rinses clean away without leaving behind a greasy or oily residue. It did a great job removing my makeup without drying out my skin. I liked it a lot but the price, size, and the fact it isn’t easily to purchase in stores was a little sad!

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Juniperus Communis Berry Oil, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Quartz.

Pros

Does a great job cleansing without stripping!

Cons

  • Smaller size, bigger price tag.
  • Not available in stores.
  • Does have a strong fragrance.

Who

  • Fourth Ray Beauty BFD Cleansing Oil is a great pick if you want a cleansing oil that doesn’t strip skin!
