5 stars out of 5

Lipstick Queen Rear View Mirror Lip Lacquer ($24) is a new high-shine lipstick or gloss stick as the brand calls it that provides pigmented, gorgeous, glossy color to lips. Available in nine shades it’s going to be mighty hard not to grab all of these after you hear my thoughts and review.

I just mentioned in my NYX Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color that I’m soooo tired of mattes. Matte has been a fairly standard part of the makeup world but I think it’s been a trending finish for simply ages now. It’s something that simply won’t go away. The market is so saturated with liquid matte lipsticks. Every brand has one! NYX particularly comes to mind as they seem like they keep introducing matte liquid lipsticks in new packaging with a different name but it seems like it’s just the same old formula in every single launch. They must have like ten plus liquid lipsticks available that are matte and long-wearing. Sheesh!

I have always loved a glossy finish. I’ve always added a clear gloss to all my lipsticks and even added it to lipglosses that aren’t glossy enough. It’s a finish I love!

I’m liking that Spring seems to be a reboot and we’re seeing a lot more glossy lip products!

I probably say this about every Lipstick Queen product that launches but Rear View Mirror Lip Lacquer is probably one of Poppy’s best formulas!

Let’s take a look at the review and swatches below!

Lipstick Queen Rear View Mirror Lip Lacquer (0.04 oz) is a described as a gloss stick by the brand with a “reflective surface of the mirror” finish. It’s housed in a slim-line barrel that swivels up easily. Just a note about the packaging that may or may not be important! I swiveled this up to take a photo of it for my review a few weeks ago when I got it and I couldn’t swivel it back down. I was so freaking upset 🙁 I don’t know if this is a fluke, bad luck, or if it’s a problem with the packaging. I plan on purchasing a few more shades with my 20% off discount and will update if I experience any other issues. I ended up having to squish a good portion of the product off so I could recap it. It was rather sad considering it was brand new.

Sigh.

It’s one of the hazards of blogging! Sometimes swivel up lip products are simply not meant to be swiveled all the way up. I guess they expect you to swivel a little amount as you go.

That being said this formula is amazing. It’s a very creamy, thicker lip product that wears very comfortable and drenches lips in some very good moisture. The color is pigmented and smooth on my drier lips without feathering or moving. It wears for a solid five hours and has absolutely no issues with dryness through that time! My lips felt so nicely hydrated through the entire wear not to mention the glossy finish is very lasting as well. I wouldn’t call this reflective or lacquer-like but it does have a nice shininess to it. The formula feels like it almost melts as it comes in contact with your lips for a really easy glide during application. I detected no fragrance nor flavor in this formula.

Overall, this is amazing lipstick! It’s everything I want in a good lipstick! Pigmented, long-wearing, very moisturizing, and has just the right amount of shine!

It’s perfect!

Muse Approved.

I highly recommend picking up a shade or two!

Damn, decided against one of the on the U20, but did score the 2 newer medievals and the 66. To say this is an ultimate LQ formula is high praise, indeed. Been a Poppy fan since you were a pup…an adorable chihuahua, no doubt. There’s always another 20 down the road. Mentally filed.

I may have to try this. I normally don’t like “lip lacquers” as I associate that term with super shiny. This looks more like a nice in-between formula, not too dry, not too shiny. And the color is lovely on you!

Exactly! It’s sot of a balmy look versus a high shine one ;-D Thank you!!!!!!
