About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. The last time Sephora had a “sale”, virtually everything from SKII was out of stock. I won’t be fooled again.

    • Isabella Muse

fooled by what exactly? Do you think Sephora took it down intentionally?

      • C

Companies TOTALLY do this! They don’t take it down, but they change their stock numbers online. Last sale I had a few thing s in my cart and they were in stock. The sale started and magically they were sold out. About 15 minutes after the sale ended they were magically back in stock again. It’s happened. Not just with Sephora.

        • Isabella Muse

Honestly, I never experienced it with Sephora. Things do go out of stock but during the holidays and their big sale they restock often! I never noticed it with Sephora!

    • Carol N

It happened with the Viseart pallets, too. I purchased one online and then got an email that said it was out of stock and they cancelled that portion of my order. It magically came back into stock right after the sale was over.

  • CatG

I was just in Sephora yesterday and heard nothing! I am eagerly awaiting, I have like 12 things I want to get haha!!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m pretty sure news will break soon! crossing fingers and toes!

  • kimkats

I’m sure they’ll do a sale; they have every year, and they’re really having to deal iwth increased competition from Ulta now,so I’d be shocked if they didn’t do one this year. It’d be awesome if they bumped up the discount too, but somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen. Still – I gotta list of goodies to get all made out, and ready to fire up! 😀

    • Isabella Muse

I have one too ;-D teehee! I sure hope they do but I think you’re right! Might not be so lucky with an increase to 20 but one can hope!

  • Victoria

I just did a mini haul on the website today – full well knowing the sell is coming cause I can’t wait. It was a bunch of First Aid Beauty skincare and the new Tarte Babasu or however you spell it Foundation

    • Emily

Have you ever shopped at Dermstore.com? They sell First Aid Beauty, they have frequent sales, 20% or more off, and even when there’s not a sale, you can subscribe and save 15%, or “favorite” and save 10%. They are an excellent retailer. Free shipping and returns.

  • Paige

Well if they do it, I’ll be ordering Christophe Robin salt hair scrub, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, and Ouai leave in conditioner. Basically my staples just for the discount, and that is assuming Neiman’s doesn’t have a GWP bag, even though those have been less exciting lately. I was really hoping for a 20% but 15 is still better than full price on those items that don’t seem to go on sale anywhere else.

  • Melissa

I have one of those $ 100 rouge rewards , hoping I can use it for the sale

      • Emily

Whaaat? I have been saving my $100 Rouge Reward for the sale, thought it was like a gift card. WTF, Sephora?

        • Isabella Muse

When you check out you have to put the number in the promo card field and you can only use one promo code per an order. I tried using the three reward cards I had over the Holiday sale but no dice 🙁

  • Dee

I hope we get 20%! I usually get so much in the fall and around the holidays that there really isn’t a ton I want right now. I typically use the Sephora sale for things I need. I can get them anytime but it’s always nice to get a discount. I have fallen in love with the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer and this is a good time to pick a bottle up. I love this stuff!! Maybe some Anastasia Brow Gel.

Recommend a good blush and bronzer palette! Maybe I’ll get one of those too.

  • Lacy

Ugh I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting to hear news with the dates. I’ve got a a nice little haul in mind. It’d be awesome if they increased to 20% . And they really should since ulta does it multiple times throughout the year and not just once or twice

    • Isabella Muse

I WOULD kill for 20 right now as I have a lot of stuff in my cart ;D

      • Wendy

No need to kill…it’s 20% off for Rouge members this time around. From 4/26-5/6 with no limit set on # of times you can use it. Also, I think you can use the $100 reward cards since you have to enter the number and the pin in the same place you would enter gift cards. The promo space is for the word used for rouge, vib, bi, etc…. Hope this helps.

        • Isabella Muse

I had a reward card I was trying to use over the Holiday season and it had to be applied in the promo area not in the gift card area. they don’t give you a pin number with the reward card, only a number. Here’s a copy of my reward card https://ibb.co/C1fH04r <------, no pin, just a number which I placed in the promo box upon check out. The small print even says something about not being able to use them in conjunction with sales. Did sephora confirm you can use the code several times? Where did that info come from?

  • kjh

If they don’t do it, they will only further alienate their already irate customer base. I may still be strong low buy. But might pick up some Algenist or K eye cream. Rouge for as long as they’ve had it, and ZERO this year. I think they don’t even have any Nars I’ve been lemming.

    • Isabella Muse

whoa really? Thanks for the update! It’s traditionally around april 13th-15th! That’s pretty far off! Guess I have to check out my cart lol! I’m impatient!

    • Tara

Oh wow…that’s so late! Any mention of whether it will be the usual 15% off?
I’m sooo hoping they up it to 20%!

  • Elise

Par for the course when it comes to Sephora. I dropped from Rouge to VIB at the end of 2018. And truth be told, I have not spent one penny in Sephora this year. And, I am sitting on a sizeable gift card too…oh well.

I would rather buy from brands directly, as the discounts are at least 20%. You tag on Ebates and you are winning! And, Ulta is winning the sale coupon and rewards game hands down! So, it is hard for me to get excited about 15% off…

    • Isabella Muse

If you have a gift card you can use it. You can’t use a rewards gift card though! Hope this clears things up!

  • Veronica

I received a $15 off code last week but I think it’s because I haven’t shopped at Sephora for more than 6 months.

    • Isabella Muse

yeah! It seems like they send out discounts when they see you aren’t buying! I saw a few people that got 20% off after the holiday event bc they didn’t shop it to begin with!

  • Iris

Ooh neat! Thanks for the heads up! I’ll be looking around in the catalogue to see if there’s anything I like. I’ve already purchased the Jessica Rabbit x Ciate lipstick and palette I really wanted.
At the very least I’ll likely be picking up a concealer in-store

  • Miko

I love the sales but I wish they gave more of a discount, especially with all the money I spend there yearly. I’ve been trying to keep an eye on brand sites more because they usually give a 25-30 percent off discount.

  • momoayz

Are you sure about the 20% for rouge? I thought it’s only 15%. They only do 20% for the second sale of the year in November. It would be awesome if it’s 20%…

      • Lacy

YAY! WE GOT WHAT WE WISHED FOR!

I saw you confirmed this and saw this posted on trendmood. So freaking happy i’m gonna do a haul but then probably stop shopping sephora for the most part unless it’s an exclusive and can’t get anywhere else……

on another note, BUYERS WITH $100 ROUGE REWARDS BEWARE…..(do not purchase things if there’s a possibility you’ll return or exhcange) think again!
You will not get the full amount back which I did not realize until recently. I purchased one of the new YSL Tatouge Couture Matte Lip Stains in a metallic color online and it was much darker in person. I went in store to just EXCHANGE it for another color and the girl went ooohh you got it on sale nice… WAIT WHAT? no i didn’t. I paid the full $37 for it and it was only crediting me back $9.18 what the literal FCK…. how that math works i have no idea. but the store would not honor it even with the actual order slip and email to confirm purchase
I called customer service and they tried to tell me it was part of the terms and conditions which was a lie. because it was the same item just different shade. after much hassle I got the rest of the money reimbursed towards the purchase but they made sure it was a one time deal and that i know going forward it will not be honored. It does however say you can exchange for the exact same item….

ROUGE REWARD TERMS Your Rouge Reward will expire 90 days from the date of this email; if the $100 value is not used in this period it will be forfeit and no points will be refunded. Only one Rouge Reward can be used per transaction and the entire $100 amount must be used in a single transaction; any remaining value will not be reimbursed. Sorry that was so much but i just want ya’ll to know!!!!! Cause I didn’t

        • Isabella Muse

YAY! I’m happy because I wasn’t really excited about 15 lol! 🙂 I actually wrote a post about this a few months ago: https://www.musingsofamuse.com/2018/11/i-tried-to-return-a-huda-obsessions-eyeshadow-palette-and-sephora-offered-me-1-56-for-it.html They offered me $1.56 back for a Huda Eyeshadow Palette I had mistakenly purchased a double of! It was crazy! I ended up keeping it and just gifting it. The $100 Reward Cards come with a lot of terms and conditions and aren’t even worth the trouble in the long run!

        • Randi Macdonald

This is exactly how Ulta works too. If you use your points for any part of an order( even if you also pay cash), they will never give you the full amount of the cash you spent as a refund. I now ONLY buy something with points and cash if I know that I’ll keep the product.

  • CL

10% for BI stinks. Not likely I’ll spend any money with Sephora if that’s the way it’s going to be. They didn’t completely fill my previous order after confirming it. They never give you the samples you ask for, either.

  • Sian

Yes! I need more lamer renewal oil! I was just starting to worry i would have to pay full price, haha. I will probably get some glow products as well.

  • Pandora

I’m VIB rouge. If I purchase online, how many orders can I place with this discount?

    • Isabella Muse

They haven’t released that info yet. I’m hoping more than once!

      • Canukchick

From what I read it’s a multiple use code? Anyone know for sure? Thanks!!

  • Cathy

On your post above you said if I have a friend that is a VIB rouge, they can bring a friend to have the same discount. Can I ask a friend if I can use the discount BUT I leveled down to VIB this year . The funny thing is, I got my postcard yesterday and it said VIB rouge discount but I can’t use it

    • Isabella Muse

You have to either go in store with your friend and they can get you the discount (they have to show their Rouge card) or you can ask to have them place you an order online and just have them ship it to your house and you can pay them for it. You can’t just go into a sephora store and tell them you want to use Jane’s Smith’s (made up name) discount and expect them to give it to you sadly!
