So far, I’ve been having some fun with this collection! It’s probably best suited to people with oily or normal skin and those that are a bit younger than I am but none the less, I do like fun makeup and beauty picks I’m so here for this.
E.L.F. Jelly Pop Water Gel Moisturizer arrives in a translucent red pump bottle that’s 2.7 oz in size. The packaging on this collection is pretty fun! It’s has all the Summer feels to it not to mention it looks a bit 80s retro too. When I first got my bottle I was tempted to place it in my fridge! It just seems like it would be a cool, chilly treat in the Summer! I have a mini fridge in my bathroom and I did pop this inside after testing it out. It really makes for a fun, refreshing skin treat when you apply it cool!
This formula is very, very basic. It’ll be suitable for Summer use if you really want to go light with your moisturizer or it’ll be great for oily skin or perhaps anyone with normal skin that doesn’t require a ton of hydration. However, anyone with drier skin will find it works best as an essence or a prep for another moisturizer as on its own it simply doesn’t cut it as a moisturizer.
It’s a very, very basic formula of water, glycerin, watermelon extract, and some fillers that allows it to absorb easily. There’s nothing bad here that I see and it even contains a very small trace of citric acid that may provide basic exfoliating (but really it’s so low on the list of ingredients it likely doesn’t do much at all). The only thing that may be an issue for some users is it does contain a heavy fragrance. Unlike the Jelly Pop Cleanser I recently reviewed this didn’t really have a Watermelon Jolly Rancher-like fragrance. It actually sort of smells like cucumbers and watermelons to my nose!
The texture is a bit weird as it’s a jelly but a chunky one that reminds me of a Japanese exfoliating like Cure Natural Aqua Gel after you’ve massaged it into your skin! The texture is a little strange but it absorbs easily and doesn’t leave my skin tacky nor sticky. The moisture level is at a flat zero here. As soon as I apply it and it absorbs my skin actually doesn’t feel moist nor dewy or hydrated. It just absorbs and that’s about it. I really don’t get much moisture from it. This is way bad news if you have drier skin.
On the upside, my drier skin is a bit weird at the moment due to the humidity and heat. So, as a basic daily moisturizer I can get away with it. That won’t happen when Fall and Winter sets in but right now? Sure, it works alright. Nothing to brag about mind you but it wears well under makeup and it seems to play nice with my SPF.
All in all, you likely don’t need E.L.F. Jelly Pop Water Gel Moisturizer. It’s very affordable at $8 however, there are far better lightweight gel moisturizers and essences on the market that will provide way better results. If basic is what you want, basic is what you’ll get with this moisturizer!
Where to buy
E.L.F. Jelly Pop Water Gel Moisturizer is 2.23 oz, $8. and arrives in a pump bottle. This is lightweight gel that absorbs very easily without being sticky, tacky, or dewy. I found the formula was really basic and didn’t provide much moisture at all making ideal for as a Summer moisturizer for oily or normal skin types but not a perfect bit for drier ones that need more moisture. It does have a very heavy fragrance that smelled like cucumbers and watermelon.
