4 stars out of 5

Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer ($29) is a new lightweight concealer that promises full-coverage with a matte finish and a second skin-like feel that wears long and strong without creasing.

I have not met an Urban Decay concealer that I’ve fallen in love with. As far as I’m concerned the concealers that UD has released up until now have been ok but not keepers for me. I just don’t think they excel at concealer formulas. It’s not really their area of expertise. Have you met an Urban Decay concealer you can’t live without? I can’t say I have.

And guess what?

Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer isn’t a love either but it is a very strong like.

Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer launched very recently along with a new Stay Naked Foundation. It’s available in 26 shades and arrives in a square barrel with a flexible wave sponge applicator that allows for heavier or lighter application. It’s 0.35 oz for $30 each and there are also Stay Naked Pro Customizer shades available in white and red that act to lighten, darker, or correct shades.

Urban Decay sent me two press sample shades to use in 40NN which is described as a light-medium neutral with a neutral undertone and 40CP which is a light-medium cool with a rosy undertone. Both were way too pasty for me which led me to purchase 40NY light-medium neutral with a golden undertone. I do wonder if I should try 50NN which is a medium neutral with a neutral undertone but it looks way too dark in UD’s swatches. Typically light medium concealers with warmer or neutral undertones work great for me. I use Tarte Shape Tape in Light Medium Neutral for reference. For some reason, all three of these are just too light. 40NY I thought would be better but the golden undertone seems wrong! It feels more like a light beige undertone.

None the less, this didn’t prevent me from using and wearing them to test out for this review.

I like this formula a lot but I do think it requires good prepping before application meaning a hydrating and even plumping eye cream goes a long way to create a smooth canvas and a more blendable surface for your concealer to adhere to. I use Goodal Moisture Barrier Eye Cream prior to application as it’s super hydrating and creates a nice hydrating barrier around my eye to allow the concealer to blend out easily.

It’s not that the formula is dry it’s just very thick and does require some hydration to slide across eyes a bit better do to the thicker texture. It’s a lot creamier in texture compared to Tarte Shape Tape and a bit less matte and drying. It has a very natural finish that didn’t automatically slide into my finer lines. It sort of lays on top of finer liners which is a rather awesome effect as it’s not creasing into them and actually sort of concealing them. It blends fairly well but as I said you need a nice hydrating base to achieve that. It immediately brightens up my eye area but again, the color range I choose seems a bit pasty. 40NY worked best for me but I might be a bit tan right now and maybe I’ll change my mind and end up liking the shade when I lose my Summer glow. The color wears very well for hours on end without caking or creasing even in humid weather.

I do think the shade range turned me off a tad bit. I’m hoping I can find a shade that works for me because my “strong like” might just turn into a love if I do! If you don’t love Shape Tape and you find it a bit too drying you might just fit in well with Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer. This formula feels a lot more forgivable! Although matte in finish it’s creamy and has a lighter feel under eyes and isn’t as made up looking as Shape Tape is. The coverage seems more natural but flawless. It’s not quite full-coverage in my opinion but it comes fairly close to it and should hide most under eye imperfections easily.

I give it 4 solid stars and 5 if I can finally get the shade match I need. I would recommend trying it out!

Where to buy

Sephora Nordstrom Ulta QVC

Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer is $30, 0.35 oz in size, and available in 26 shades. I struggled finding a shade match after trying three shades. I hope to see these in store soon so I can get a better match. That being said I did like this formula quite a lot. It wears for a solid eight hours, blends fairly easily so long as you have a good hydrated base for it to adhere to, and it conceals my under eye issues easily such as finer lines, fatigue, and puffiness. The texture is thicker but very creamy and although matte in finish I didn’t feel it looked or felt dry and it didn’t crease or cake under my eyes through the wear.

Pros

    • Pigmented.
    • Applies and blends well.
    • Wears long.

Cons

      • Shade range seems odd.

Who

Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer should be a hit with anyone who likes pigmented, long-wearing concealer formulas!

Lol, I think 40 CP is me, or maybe the 50 level. Did you do the new Revolution one yet? I was beyond disappointed. Hydrating?…my donkey. Love the old one. Good example of don’t fix what’s not broken.

I have. I reviewed it! Loved it! Surprised to hear you don’t like it! It’s soooo creamy and delightful!

Maybe i’ll Shake the wazoo out of it and see if it improves. I tried it after 2 different eye moisturizers, my usual FAB triple eye duty blah blah. Did not try it yet with the ptr primer. The Revolution sucked into the area, making it major dry. Blended well enough w/TM. Oh, well. Not like there aren’t 100 standing in line to try. Just love your concealer reviews, as one concealer hoo to another.
