Lush Snowflake Body Lotion Does Not Smell Like Snowcake

Lush Snowflake Body Lotion is a new, limited edition moisturizing body lotion from the Lush Christmas 2019 Collection. Sadly, Snowcake Soap has failed to make an appearance this year again with the Holiday Collection and yes, I’m sobbing all over myself over here. But there was a light at the end of that dark tunnel! Lush Snowflake Body Lotion! As soon as I saw this I jumped right in and purchased two large pots for $19.95 each. Was it enough? Would I need an entire case of this stuff? Lush says in the details that it’s a “sweet marzipan-scented lotion”! Oh my god! Joy! I wasn’t getting a Snowcake Soap but at the least they made up for it and they were giving me a body lotion.

Not so much!

Over the years, the beautiful scent of Snowcake has made it’s way into a variety of products. At one point there was a “oops” version of Almond Kisses Facial Moisturizer that smelled like Snowcake, a limited edition forum exclusive shower gel, and yes, there was a body lotion too! Snowcake is one of those gorgeous, unique fragrances but I’m puzzled why Lush doesn’t make it a permanent part of their line. Maybe they fear people will grow tired of it so bringing it out once a year for the Holidays is their way of keeping things fresh. Either way, at this point, we don’t even get it around the Holidays and I do so miss it.

So, sure, I automatically assumed that Lush Snowflake Body Lotion would smell like it. It does not and I can’t even begin to say how crushingly disappointing that is. Damn.

Lush Snowflake Body Lotion is available in two sizes and comes housed in Lush’s standard black pot. The smaller pots are $10.95 and 3.1 oz and the larger pots are $19.95 for 7.7 oz. I purchased two larger pots online and I’m grateful I didn’t get too wild and crazy purchasing more. Seriously, if this smelled like actually Snowcake I’d probably need a case of it. I ended up gifting one pot to my sister! Yeah, I was that disappointed that I was gifting away my second pot. Blah!

The lotion is a nice, creamy texture and it is very hydrating however, greasy so it does need a few minutes to fully absorb which is an issue for me as I can’t put my clothes on right away after I put it on and I simply don’t have time for that. The hydrating base is due to almond milk, apricot oil, and cocoa butter as well as Glycerine. In the pot, it smells like the original Jergens’ body moisturizer! A true, traditional cherry almond scent. I have to admit I mentally rolled my eyes when I first sniffed it because dude, I could have spent $3.99 and got a huge bottle of Jergens. This wasn’t cheap and here it is smelling like Jergens. When I apply it I got a little citrus-y mixed in with that almond scent as well as a bit of coconut. Some people said they get a warm woodsy note but I just smell almonds, coconut, and a bit of citrus. It’s not a bad scent by any means but it isn’t at all what I expected either. It’s not unique either! I might be able to forgive Lush if it was a unique new scent. It’s just meh!

So, there’s a moral with all great stories and the moral here is to go to the store and smell Lush Snowflake Body Lotion. Don’t buy this one online and don’t be deceived by the description of “marzipan” and automatically assume this smells like Snowcake. It doesn’t!

So you rated it one star because you wanted it to smell like a different product and it doesn’t? That doesn’t really seem like a fair review. You even mentioned it was a nice lotion.

I rated it one star due to the scent which I didn’t like and the fact that it was greasy. It’s a nice formula, quite creamy, but the greasiness is an issue for me :-/ takes a bit too long to dry down which means if I want to apply in the AM after my shower I can’t put my clothes right on and I have no time for that in the AM. I need to get going in the morning.

I hate Lush for not having snowflake soap 🙁 Buying it was my Christmas ritual.

It was mine too! I used to buy an entire slab back in the good days! It would cost $77 but it would last me the entire year!

This is such a bummer! I learned the hard way last year though that their “Snowcake” scented products don’t always smell like it. Last year I bought like 10 Puddy Holly bubble bars because they were allegedly Snowcake scented and they were awful! I hate patchouli and I swear they all had some kind of patchouli note and overall they didn’t smell anything like Snowcake. I don’t know what to do with them so they just sit there in a bag. Sorry this happened to you but thank you for the heads up! I will be sure to try out the lotion in person before buying.

I have the naked solid version this year and it smells of marzipan with a hint of fresh lemon. Gorgeous. Its quite subtle though so I missed the marzipan smell at first.

Snowcake and Snowflake are two entirely different products! The ingredients look a like, but they’re not the same scent family, Lush doesn’t claim this as well.

Not a fair review at all, even though I understand the disappointment if you expected different scent.
I definitely smell marzipan and I bought a pot of Snowflake instantly when tried it at the shop.
The formula isn’t so much greasy like it is reach – it does sink in my skin fairly quickly and doesn’t feel heavy and oily. Like with all Lush products, I’d try to find best way to use a certain product rather than buying something and expecting it to do what I imagine it should. This one, I agree with you, is not the best fit if you want a “quick and easy fit the morning routine” body cream. It’s more of a “before I go to bed so my skin looks and smells like I’m a goddess” lotion. I even use it on my face before bedtime, just the tiniest amount and it does wonders – no flakey winter cheeks, reduced redness, amazing glow, less pimples! And the best thing is that a small dab goes a long way, so if you feel it takes too long to absorb, maybe you just use too much of it.

Oh my goodness I got this lotion as part of a set my husband got me for Christmas. I’ve only just started using it the past few days and I no longer have really dry skin on my ankles and elbows!
My 2 year old son gets quite itchy skin. I put some on him yesterday where he was itching and voila! He seems fine?!
I love this stuff. I do think it smells suspiciously like yakult though…

I am completely in love with the Snowflake lotion, but now I feel like I have to check out Jergans…unless the ingredients are superior in Snowflake (which I assume they are for the price point). I tried to buy a second pot of it after Christmas but they no longer carried it and instead convinced me to buy Pansy claiming it was somewhat similar. Everything smelled like the same smell explosion in the shop and I trusted her and bought it, but then my husband and a friend both told me it was the same smell that liquid pump soap in public restrooms has (and with that in my mind the next time I opened the jar I realized that they were TOTALLY right and like how DARE they ruin it for me with their stupid superior olfactory senses). I have never smelled Snowcake though, and feel like I must be missing out.
