4 stars out of 5

Colourpop Bird of Paradise Pressed Powder Palette is one of three new 9-pan eyeshadow palettes that launched exclusively at Ulta recently. I know, I know! I don’t need another orange/coral eyeshadow palette….! I mean it feels like I just got Colourpop Baby Got Peach and Orange You Glad? so, do I really need Bird of Paradise Eyeshadow Palette too? Yeah, I do!

Sorry not sorry.

This palette arrives in a lightweight, cardboard compact with a fiery feather design decorating the front. It does not contain a mirror and holds nine eyeshadows that are 0.04 oz each. The palette is pretty but I wish it was a plastic compact like some of the newer monochromatic palettes

Colourpop Bird of Paradise Eyeshadow Palette is probably a little bit Summer-y but if you think about it the shades are really Fall-friendly as well! These are my shades of choice! I really love corals, oranges, peaches, and golds. It’s a gorgeous color scheme. This definitely feels like one of Colourpop’s monochromatic palettes on some levels and that could be a little bit of an issue because some shades do run together! It reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette as you’re trying to create a look with this but you end up looking like you’re using all one shade. You might feel the need to bring in other golds and peaches from your own collection to get better contrast because the palette doesn’t offer enough of it. Shades like Preen Queen and Perch are beautiful but they are just a smidge lighter than each other and can run together when used in the same look. Golden Egg and Hatched are different shades one is a reddish terracotta and the other is warmer matte terracotta and they run together as well.

The palette contains mattes, shimmers, satins, and metallics. I was very pleased with the performance on all the shades and finishes. The metallics are super creamy feeling and blend easily with very little fall out. The mattes are soft, silky, and not overly powdery. The shimmers and satins are equally silky and easy to apply and blend. I was very, very pleased with the texture on all of the shades and the pigment is outstanding!

I guess the Colourpop Bird of Paradise Pressed Powder Palette doesn’t bring anything new to the table and you may need to bring in other shades to get a more complete look when using this palette. But boy, it sure does pack in beautifully formulated eyeshadow with plenty of pigment at a great price.

If you like shades like this picking it up will be a no brainer.

Colourpop Bird of Paradise Pressed Powder Palette is available now at Ulta.

Where to buy

Ulta

Colourpop Bird of Paradise Eyeshadow Palette is a new, Ulta exclusive 9-pan eyeshadow palette that’s $12 with eyeshadows are are 0.04 oz in size. The eyeshadows are beautifully pigmented, easy to apply, and blend with very little fall out. I was very pleased with the overall performance on all the shades here. The only hiccup I experienced was shades did run together and it was hard getting contrast from the colors. I felt the need to bring in other shades from my stash to get a complete look because of this!

Pros

  • Budget friendly.
  • Pigmented.
  • Easy to apply and blend.
  • Very pretty shade range.

Cons

  • Bringing in other shades from your collection might be necessary to get a complete look since shades are so similar they run together in one look!

Who

Much prettier than I would have thought. Feeling a bit of CP fatigue with the colorways, and the Ulta 9s seem like recycled shades. Your swatches get me every time. I feel my debit card vibrating in my pocket.

I haven’t quite reached the CP fatigue yet! I still get a bit excited by their releases! but yeah, it’s a lot of reruns if I am being honest with myself but still so beautiful!
