5 stars out of 5

I recently purchased the MAC Star-Dipped Face Compact in Light ($42.50) which is part of the MAC Holiday 2019 Collection. I had hopes of reliving some of the joy I got from the Sweet Vision Magic Dust Powder I love so much! It didn’t quite meet that mark but it sure did come in close! There are actually two of these palettes so I am going to purchase the darker one as well.

It’s weird because this year I felt like MAC’s Holiday Collection was very tiny compared to years past. This was actually a really smart move to make because I really feel like the beauty bubble has burst and an excessively larger collection would likely end up on sale at the end of the season. What I have played with from MAC Holiday 2019 has really impressed me so far including this lovely little Star-Dipped Face Compact.

MAC Star-Dipped Face Compact arrives in a pink glitter sturdy cardboard compact with a magnetic closure and a full-size mirror. Inside you’ll find two Extra Dimension Blush shades and two Extra Dimension Highlighters which are 0.12 oz each. Extra Dimension Blush are 0.14 oz each and $30 and Extra Dimension Highlighters are 0.31 oz for $36. This palette is $42.50 and contains 0.48 oz of total product making it a rather nice little deal. The palette contains new shades and it’s available for a limited time.

The Extra Dimension formula is always a pleasure to work with. It has a very smooth, firm surface but that doesn’t prevent it from being incredibly pigmented and easy to apply and blend. The fact that it has such a firm surface means you aren’t getting a ton of powdery kick back when swiping a brush through it not to mention the smoother finish allows smoother application so color melts into cheeks for a seamless finish that never looks powdery. The wear time is excellent and wears all day on my face without fading.

The two blushes were what I loved best about the palette. Dipped in Stars is a pretty watermelon pink with a subtle glow where as Sippin on Stars is a very warm, orange-y peach with a light luminous finish.

Note: This post will be updated shortly with swatch photos.

I’ll be honest and admit I wasn’t sure I’d make use of the highlighters here but both add a surprising depth and glow to my looks when I swiped them along with either of the blush shades. For a moment I felt hesitate to pair up Hi-Sequincy with either blush shade as it’s a stark white gold but it adds a really pretty glow to Dipped in Stars and actually removes some of the warmth from Sippin’ on Stars and adds a nice bit of lightness to it. Both shades performed well the blushes or when worn alone. All four shades had excellent pigment, wear, and application was flawless and smooth.

The one downside of the palette was the fact that the shades were not marked anywhere on the palette. It would be nice if they printed the shade names at the very least in the back of the compact but for whatever reason they failed to do so. The palette is Made in Italy.

Wearing Dipped in Stars

Wearing Sippin on Stars

All in all, the MAC Star-Dipped Face Compact is a nice selection of gorgeous shades that apply, blend, and perform very well with a beautiful formula that looks seamless and gorgeous on skin.

This one gets a Muse Approval.

Where to buy

Ulta Nordstrom MAC

MAC Star-Dipped Face Compact is new, limited edition Holiday 2019 face palette that contains two Extra Dimension Blushes and two Extra Dimension Highlighters that’s $42.50 and 0.48 oz in total size. I was very pleased with the application, blending, and wear of all four shades. Both the blushes and highlighters have a very firm texture which works to the advantage of the users as this means they apply very smoothly and appear seamless on skin without a powdery look on cheeks! No matter your skin type you’ll be able to get a very smooth finish from these with a gorgeous glow. The blushes were very pigmented and the highlighters worked surprisingly well with the blushes much to my delight!

I picked this up on the last day of the Sephora sale along with the neutral lip kit. I’m super excited to get it now that I see it’s awesome! Did you get any of the lipsticks from this collection?

I just got the dark one today, I used part of my $125 Ulta haul to grab it. Of course I spent $25 extra to get that giant $150 gift with all the samples. Merry Christmas to me. Haven’t tried it yet, but man is it gorgeous. I am happy to have Snowflushed as I missed it last time. Strangely, this palette does have the names on the back.

I like this palette as well. The blushes are a tad bright on me because I’m so fair, but it’s nice when I mix the shades and highlighters together. I only bought one thing from the collection. I like the packaging and embossing more than I like the actual products. LOL!
