5 stars out of 5

MAC Paint By Umber Eyeshadow ($18) (.05 oz) is one of six new wearable nude eyeshadow shades that launched with the MAC Loud & Clear Collection for Spring 2020. Call me boring but Loud & Clear is probably one of my favorite Spring launches. I always favor really simple looks in the Spring. Nude eyeshadow, a soft peach blush, nude lips, it feels like the perfect time to embrace a softer look. When MAC Loud & Clear Spring 2020 popped up I was pretty excited as here was a simple, concise collection of wearable neutrals. Nothing bold, nothing dramatic, just a bit of a glow-y cheek, a softer eye, and a pretty nude lip.

I had high hopes when purchasing MAC Paint By Umber Eyeshadow that it would be the perfect dune shade that I’ve been seeking. Turns out it’s a little bit of lighter version of my favorite Holika Holika Piece Matching Shadow Matte and I’m cool with that.

MAC went a little different with the packaging on the Loud & Clear Collection. All of the products come in simple, clear compacts with translucent outer boxes. I actually like the basic look of these compact and somehow, someway it feels like I can see the colors more clearly through the packaging when storing them.

I picked up a majority of the eyeshadow shades from the collection but my favorite would be Paint By Umber. I thought it might be a dune shade when I saw it in a few promo images but it’s actually a soft, light brown that almost has a peachy undertone with a matte finish. It’s a dense shadow with a very firm surface but I had no trouble picking color up, applying, and blending it. It looks seamless on my eyes which I love as the shade almost appears as if its airbrushed onto my eyes. It runs sheerer but builds easily enough and provides fairly decent color but nothing too bold nor too loud. It’s a very natural shade that makes for a great all over color wash for quickie nude looks. I paired it up with a glow-y cheek to offset the natural look it gave me eyes.

I can see myself purchasing a backup of this shade. It’s a nice, everyday eyeshadow shade that you can create a super easy natural look with. No need to bring in other eyeshadow shades, it makes for an easy nude look all by itself.

Love this one.

Do pick it up!

Where to buy

Ulta Nordstrom Macy’s

MAC Paint By Umber Eyeshadow is $18, .05 oz in size, and a limited edition shade released with the MAC Loud & Clear Spring 2020 Makeup Collection. This is a light brown shade with an almost peachy undertone that has a firm, dense texture but applies and blends seamlessly on eyes. The color runs sheerer but builds easily but isn’t a dramatic, bold, pigmented color. This is a color you reach for if you want a pretty, natural color wash on eyes to compliment a louder lip or blush look! It’s perfect for a more natural look and worthy of a backup if you’re more of a simple makeup user that enjoys one and done shades!

Works well with the early movies star look. Super thin winged eyeliner and arched brows.

Don’t pick up a backup! You know you’re probably never going to use this one up–unless you truly do use up makeup, in which case, I’m envious and amazed! I felt like the eyeshadows in this collection were soft and creamy, more so than their normal eyeshadows. I really like the pink one and was tempted to pick up Omega, but eh…I can get Omega with my back to mac and save some money. The problem is that I like the clear packaging. LOL!

Did you pick up any of the blushes! They’re beautiful!

    Pretty!

I bought one of the blushes and a lipglass from the collection but I wasn’t sure about the shadows on my oily eyelids. I love what I bought though.
