Here’s What I Did This 4 of July and Here’s The Sales I Hit Up
Good Morning!
How was your weekend? I hope you had a lovely one! It was nice that the 4th fell on the weekend but kind of crappy that we’re all still quarantining here (friends, family, and my BF who got back from CA last week)! But it’s ok! I made a list of things I wanted to do by myself over the weekend and I had fun even if it wasn’t with a big BBQ, friends, and family. I was a little uncomfortable with the sheer amount of people walking around upstate this weekend without masks. At one point I saw a bunch of people crammed into an outdoor tent at a local pub with a live band. I have to admit I was that Karen thinking, “Whoa guys! Maybe that’s not a good idea!” I was jealous of their good time but I wasn’t jealous of the potential they had to spread the virus.
So, instead of being out and about I stayed in. I went in the pool, if you watched my Insta-stories I went all DIY and created tie-dye sneakers, I did a little self care with some Flora & Curl hair care, I sanded down an old vanity I purchased at an antique store last year and I repainted it white (I plan on using it in one of the guest bedrooms), I put up new lemon curtains in my kitchen (because it’s Summer and my obsession with lemons is full on), I made my own Pinkberry, I switched out all the cherry blossom seat cushions on the porch furniture with lemon ones (told you I was obsessed with lemons), I power washed the entire driveway, I mowed the lawn, weeded, and worked in the garden a bit. I also planted two trees I purchased at my favorite garden center in Hudson, the Secret Gardener. I really, really wanted to go antiquing but none of my favorite antique stores are open yet. If you’ve ever been to the Hudson Valley area there’s a lot of cute little places to walk around and enjoy the scenery. One of my favorites is Warren Street in Hudson. Maybe you heard me talk about it before especially when I did my little ode to 2Note (who are now sadly closed forever but still filling orders online). I did manage to walk around Warren Street this weekend. They actually pulled a New Orleans on us all by shutting the street down and letting little traffic through which allows a lot of outdoor dining to spill into the streets. I walked around window shopping at some of my favorite Antique Stores which are still closed. I also managed to snag some yummies at Talbott & Arding which I took home and ate on the grass in front of my house on a picnic blanket. Sometimes you gotta have a a quiet picnic by yourself.
I also went to Home Goods all by myself! Yay me! But man, Home Goods had nothing on the shelves. It was really bare. I went to Marshall’s as well but again, nothing available! It’s ok though! I have plenty of stuff! I don’t need more ;-D I did go to Target as well and it was luxurious! It was just so quiet and no one was there! I skipped down the aisles in glee.
Finally, last night I got some work prepared for today as I wanted to be on top of everything before my work day started. I did decide to stay up here and I’ll return to the city tomorrow for work. But right now, I’m working from home and less stressed since I did a little preparation for my day yesterday!
I also did a little retail therapy online! Did you? The sales were good but I wouldn’t say they were great. Feels like more stuff was on sale last year. I took advantage of those Pat Mcgrath singles for $12 as I own some but not all of ’em and a few shades caught my eye that I didn’t have. I also, finally caved on the Etude House Tsum Tsum stuff! That Jelly Blur was tempting!
What did you do this weekend?
Did you hit up any good sales?
