5 stars out of 5

Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm ($35) is a solid cleansing balm infused with green tea and cherry blossom extract that launched a few months ago. I happen to be a die hard fan of Huda Beauty Makeup Remover Balm and it was wonderful but too small and available for a limited time. You can actually still grab it on hudabeauty.com and it’s on sale for $8! I grabbed a few during the Huda Black Beauty Sale but I also grabbed the Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm as well as I decided to finally cave and try it out. It was on sale at the time but I’d totally pay full price for this. It’s wonderful!

I was obviously not paying attention when this launched because I was under the impression it was a cleansing cream sort of like Pond’s Cold Cream or something! And it is somewhat but I’ll get into that more in a bit.

Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm is $35 and 3.53 oz in size. If you compare it to popular cleansing balm Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm it is a bit more expensive and smaller in size but I don’t mind because I really, really like this formula. My personal holy grail formula is Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm and I’m throwing it out there and saying I like this formula MORE than Farmacy.

Ok, so, why do I like this so much!? The texture just so cool. It starts out as a soft, sorbet-like balm that I’d compare to Farmacy’s cleansing balm. Once you apply it things get sort of interesting! This stuff feels like it turns into a cream! You know how cleansing balms go from a solid balm to a cleansing oil? This actually goes from a balm to a cleansing cream! It’s so weird and delightful! As I massage more and work it around my face it breaks down into an oil! It has three transitions! It starts out as a balm, breaks down into a cream, and finally a cleansing oil.

It removes makeup very easily and rinses clean away! It’s also quite hydrating so my face feels very smooth and soft after using it.

Keep in mind I loved the original cleansing balm Huda launched and this has a lot of the same ingredients with a few variations however, the formulas are a bit different. The original formula is just as soft and does melt down to a lovely oil but doesn’t have the creaminess I experience with the Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm. Below I references the ingreidnets on both balms!

All in all, Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm was a win! This is a favorite of mine now and I’ll definitely repurchase it!

I’d highly recommend it for purchase!

Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm is $35 and 3.53 oz in size. This is a solid cleansing balm that has a very interesting transition from balm, to cream, to oil! This is meant to be used on a dry face! Scoop out a small amount, massage onto skin and the balm turns into a cream as you massage further it becomes more of an oil! Once you completely massaged it in use a little water to emulsify the balm and it’ll break down and go milky at which point you can rinse. The balm removes makeup very easily and doesn’t leave skin tight nor dry but smooth and lightly hydrated. It does an excellent job removing makeup easily even waterproof mascara and rinses clean away!
