Milani Avocado Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm is a new, permanent solid cleansing balm that contains avocado oil, squalane, and shea butter to gently break down makeup even waterproof mascara quickly and easily. This cleansing balm launched with the new Milani Skin Fresh Collection for Spring 2021 and is a retake on their Fruit Fetish Collection from Summer 2020 featuring a variety of fruity themed makeup and skincare infused with peaches, blueberries, cherries, or avocado! The collection popped at up Walgreens initially and now Milani’s website also has it available. I’m 100% sure that we’ll see it at mass retailers within the next several weeks as well.
I actually had this really weird senior moment where I spent ten minutes trying to find the ingredients label on the jar. Yesterday was kind of a crazy work day for me plus add in the fact I was walking around the house in crooked eyeliner (if you follow me on Instagram and social media you know) and I guess this made me have a brain fart moment where I simply couldn’t understand that I just had to flip the jar over. Ummm yeah…! I swear when I’m stressed out I just lose my entire brain. I literally sat there at my vanity and picked off the top label because I thought it was under there and I proceeded to look all over the jar except for the bottom. What is WRONG with me? The most hysterical part of the situation was I was sitting there muttering to myself about how they couldn’t not put the ingredients on something! How could they sell it like this? Isn’t that illegal? I had a running dialog with myself as I tried to locate the label!
See? PROOF! I removed the whole label! Proof I’m bonkers!
So, yeah, that’s my story about how I had a weird mental break yesterday.
Moral of the story? Sit back, breath, take a moment, you’re going to be ok!
Milani Avocado Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm is $13.99 and 1.58 oz in size. It comes in a smaller plastic jar that’s an avocado green in shade. It does not have a spatula which happens to be a bit of a pet peeve of mind but I do have plenty laying around which means I can’t rant too much (but for $14 I’d like one!). This isn’t Milani’s first foray into the world of cleansing balms as last year they introduced us to Green Goddess Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm because everyone wants CBD in their cleansing balm am I right? I thought there was actually something prior to Green Goddess but maybe I’m thinking of NYX Stripped Off Cleansing Balm! Feel free to shout out if I missed another cleansing balm from Milani!
This kind of gave me Physicians Formula The Perfect Matcha 3-in-1 Melting Cleansing Balm and Farmacy Beauty Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm vibes! Must be all the green! It even has that fresh sweetish green scent both of those have! Not exactly the same but it does smell sort of similar! The textures are not the same as Milani’s is a bit firmer and not as soft and melt-y.
Milani’s formula does indeed contain avocado oil (lower on the list) and safflower oil (higher on the list) as well as shea butter. Sadly, it does contain grapefruit oil as well which is lower on the list but it still deserves mentioning if you avoid citrus oils of any kind. There is Squalane as well but it’s practically the last ingredient. I experienced no reactions to any of these oils or the shea butter but I do know some of you aren’t keen on shea butter that’s why I always like mentioning it. I was disappointed by the lack of squalane but considering this didn’t make me dry or tight after use I consider that a win.
This is a firmer texture but it does melt down nicely upon contact with skin and breaks down into a creamier texture as you massage it in. As with all cleansing balms it’s meant for use on dry skin and can be emulsified using water at which point it’ll break down quickly into a milky consistency and rinse clean away. It removes makeup very well and left my skin smooth but not necessarily hydrated however, not tight or dry either.
It’s a bit expensive but on par with other drugstore cleansing balms of the same size and price! If you wanna go even cheaper E.L.F. Holy Hydration! Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm is $10 bucks and larger at 2oz and Pond’s Cleansing Balm is a generous 3.38 oz and runs around $8-$10 bucks!
Milani Avocado Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm is a nice little cleansing balm that doesn’t have a ton of bells and whistles but it is a bit expensive compared to other drugstore products that are a bit cheaper and a bit bigger.
Where to buy
Milani Avocado Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm is a new, permanent solid cleansing balm that’s $13 that’s 1.58 oz in size. After using this I can honestly say I like it but it isn’t the best cleansing balm I’ve tried nor the cheapest. It has a firmer texture that breaks down into a creamier texture as you apply to your face. It emulsifies easily and whisks makeup off quickly and simply! It has a bright, green citrus-y sort of scent that’s very pleasant. I thought it was pretty basic for the price point as much of the market about how it contains avocado oil and squalane makes it seem more beneficial to your skin it actually is as many of those ingredients are lower on the list meaning there’s very little of it in the actually formula.
- Nice texture that rinses clean away without leaving skin tight or dry.
- Breaks down makeup easily.
- A bit expensive compared to other budget friendly cleansing balms.
- Not a ton of beneficial ingredients most of the ones that are in it are very low on the list!
Milani Avocado Makeup Melter Cleansing Balm is a simple and effective cleansing balm that removes makeup easily and will please those who aren’t interested in a ton of bells and whistles..
