It’s been a year since Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask released and I realized within the first month of using it last year that I was applying it completely wrong. Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is an overnight mask that contains a mix of interesting ingredients including superstar niacinamide, squalane, ceramides, and omega fatty acids. I purchased this within a few days of the launch back in January of 2020 and after using it I was sorely disappointed. I spent a month applying it as the last step in my nightly routine and just didn’t notice results.

I realized quickly why.

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask arrives in an airtight pump that’s 1.69 oz in size and $52. It’ll pair up great with any skincare routine including ones retinol ones.

This is a light, creamy almost gel-like consistency that’s meant to be applied as the very last step in your routine before going to bed in the evenings. It contains no fragrance and absorbs fairly easily into skin. I’ve never had a problem layering it with anything I use such as pilling.

I felt like a lot of the bad reviews I read when I first started using it. Most people said, “I don’t notice much difference using this!” Yup, that was me. But I realized I was being stingy. I dunno if I’m alone but when I get new skincare I’m sometimes a little bit greedy with it. It’s new and exciting and fresh and I spent a good bit of money on it and I wanna make it last forever and ever. So, what do I do? I apply really small amounts of it. Once the shiny new fresh feel fades I start getting a bit more generous!

This is in fact where my problem was. According to instructions on the box you should apply five pumps of Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask. That’s quite a bit! I was using one pump and I gradually moved on to two pumps. Well, I’m here to tell you less is not more with this product. MORE is more! Use more, use lots! For the best results five pumps is exactly what you need. Five pumps will get you about a half dollar coin amount and that seems a lot but remember this is an overnight mask/sleeping pack.

Here’s what I noticed when I used more versus when I used less.

First off, when I use less I don’t feel hydrated in the morning and my skin just looks the same old, same old. For something that contained so many hydrating ingredients I expected so much more. For the record, I have dry, dull skin and I rely on moisture so my skin looks smooth and bright. Lack of moisture will def make your complexion look duller. That small amount I was using never really worked for me and I was disappointed I paid $52 for it. After about a month I decide I would use more and I just happened to reading the back of the box again and noticed the five pump directions. That’s when I went all out and applied a heaping amount to my face.

So.

Worth.

It.

In the AM my skin was so soft, so smooth and after a week I noticed how much brighter my complexion was. So yeah, using that much means you’ll go through this fast but it def works better when applying more in my humble opinion. It’s actually become a staple in my nightly routine! In conjunction with my retinol my skin looks so much more brighter and smoother.

I’d highly recommend checking I’ve Been Applying Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask and use more not less! If you have this sitting around and experiences problems like I did I urge you to go revisit it and apply more instead of less!

Everyone will relate to using tres cher products sparingly. Especially when it seems like overload. My similar experience made me look massively stupida. Purito (green level blah blah) oil cleanser. Having a smallish face, I squirted one pump (it says 2-3) and was bitching to myself: I can’t believe this stuff sucks so badly. It drags like crazy and doesn’t do a very good job at all. Sh1+, I’m going to have to use it as shaving cream. This, until I actually read the directions! Now it’s fine and my love affair with Purito can continue unscorned.

Haha I think we all get something new and sort of suddenly become cheap with it and don’t wanna use it and savor the experience but it isn’t doing us any good!
