Did you think KVD was done for good? Think again! KVD Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm is one of the brand’s newest foundations. This creamy, hydrating, lightweight balm has a matte finish and contains apple extract that helps to moisturize skin. It launched a very short time ago and ended up going viral on Tiktok soon after and it’s been sold out ever since. I honestly though that KVD would have a hard time making a come back but the fact this out as quickly as it did proves they might just have a trick or two still up there sleeve.

This foundation has been hyped up and so well reviewed and raved. I had some suspicions to be honest as the constant raving about the amazing coverage and the lightweight feel had me raising a brow. Here’s the thing…

Cream foundations like this can be a make or break situation as for me I’d say mostly break. I always, always want to love these. They are created with drier skin folks in mind! This particularly has a “fresh matte” formula and keep in mind these aren’t the mattes our mama and grandma more. The matte finished has evolved! It’s cleaner, it’s fresher, it’s smoother, and it isn’t as drying as it once was. It’s also typically easy to apply and doesn’t adhere to drier areas. I’m not nearly as scared of mattes as I was several years ago. The finish has greatly improved over the years. When it said “fresh matte” finish I wasn’t turned off in the least by that!

Now, keep in mind, I haven’t tried KVD Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm and I probably won’t for a few different reasons. First off, cream foundations in a pan never work for me. They always look really bad! Typically they are heavy and they look like a mask on me. They also give me a very made up look and I dislike that. I like a more natural finish in my makeup. Secondly, they tend to feel very greasy almost like Halloween makeup. Ironically that greasiness does not translate to hydrate as I always feel they adhere to every single dry patch on my face. It’s just a really bad, bad formula for me that doesn’t work.

When I started hearing how impressed everyone was with this formula I instantly new a lot of it was hype. I think many people are raving this to death because they are so impressed with the pigment.

It is indeed, a very highly pigmented product just like all of KVD base products are. It comes as no real surprise they created a foundation with this much pigment. It almost feels like people somehow forget about Lock-It Foundation. It’s not like the brand hasn’t created pigmented base products in the past. Why are you so surprised and shocked how pigmented this new one is? I mean the level of shock, excitement and amazement over the pigment does have me scratching my head. Why so amazed? We all know that the brand is well known for pigmented foundations and concealers.

The hype is at the absurd level at this point and it’s worked in KVD’s favor because the foundation is completely sold out at both Ulta and Sephora. I feel slightly bad for anyone that actually raced to buy it because the reviews are trickling in on Sephora and many are pretty bad and saying how it isn’t worth the hype. You know when Sephora reviews are actually truthful that things are bad. Don’t get me wrong there are some great reviews and maybe it works fabulously for some people but this type of formula can be a painful to use.

But the power of social media strikes again and this is sold out! I personally think it’s over-hyped as hell but when it does come back I’ll be purchasing and trying it out to see what I think!

What do you think?

Hyped or miracle foundation?

As someone who has dry skin and is 42, I can tell you my opinion of the foundation is that it is only ok. I tried it without primer (shade Light 002) and used the KVD setting powder (fair) for my first wear test. I actually ended up looking super shiny well before the end of the day. The foundation broke up on my nose and chin (though I do have allergies and blow my nose from time to time during the day and I do rest my chin on my hand when I’m thinking through a problem at work). By 5pm, it looked awful. So I tried it another day with my favorite primer (Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer) and my favorite setting powder (Cozzette Essential Powder in C1). It looked much better, but by 5pm it had broken down in several places and after my workout it had completely settled into my pores and just looked awful. So while I love cream products, and love the shade range and color match, the formula just doesn’t work for me. It is CRAZY how people are so excited to buy it. TikTok helped them sell out, but the negative reviews coming in will probably hurt them.

I suspected as much!!!!!!!!! I feel like it hyped to the max. Tiktok def helped a lot! It’s pretty much everywhere on Tiktok at this point and it really helped push the sales. But I kind of figured it was over hyped! thanks for sharing your experience! I’m still curious but not so curious I need to race out to buy it!

I think they probably made about 30 of each shade so they could brag how fast it sold out! 😀 Who knows – it may totally rock, but she creeps me out, and I’ll be hard pressed to try anything from her line…. Have you got/tried the Stila one yet, Muse?

LOL maybe but I actually think it just got a huge hype from socail media. She’s not part of the brain anymore. I haven’t it but hoping it’ll be like the old Laure Mercier one!

I picked it up, and really like it. But, I already preferred a cream compact foundation. Plus, I can use it as a concealer for quick touch ups. The finish is pretty, it doesn’t take a lot to apply, and while not ground breaking, wears well for me.
You’re right tho – high pigment is something KVD is known for, so again not revolutionary.

I can picture cream compact users adoring it. If that’s the formula you’re used to this must be a dream for you! I’ve never been a fan! It always feels too heavy and mask-like on me and I’m picturing this the same! It fascinates me how people are swooning over the pigment and shocked how pigment it is. But why? That’s what KVD is known for!?!? ;-D

Miracle foundation! This is the same brand that makes Fenty and Marc Jacob. Of course it is good.

‘You know when Sephora reviews are actually truthful that things are bad.’ P-R-E-A-C-H!!

I would never be able to wear a cream compact foundation. I like my bases to be ultra light in texture with light coverage. Every compact or stick foundation I’ve ever tried was thick and greasy looking or dry and emphasized all my patches; I can’t imagine a balm foundation being any better.

Truthfully, I can’t even stand most liquid foundations, so I am staying far, far away from this.

cream compacts are notoriously thick and mask-like imho! So I’m with you, def avoid them!

I never go for anything that is being hyped. I wait to read every comment under the sun before I buy anything. That was why I found my Double Wear.

This fou dation has been getting a lot of mixed reviews and it doesn’t seem all that for oily skin. So it ain’t for me.
