Hard Candy Hydrating Chilling Wonder Powder and TikTok Are Making Me Feel As Old as Dirt

I HIGHLY suggest you never ever download Tiktok if you’re sensitive about your age and being old because apparently Hard Candy hydrating Chilling Wonder Powder is some new, innovative technology. Seriously, if you aren’t 25 and under on Tiktok it means you are ancient. Grandma, born the day dinosaurs roamed the earth, recorded music on a cassette tape old. You’re OLD old on Tiktok! Older than you realized! Older than everyone else….! I did a Tiktok yesterday as some of my online friends over there convinced me somehow to get involved and I felt like the biggest dork on the face of the planet. I have new found respect for youTubers who get in front of a camera daily!

I learned just how much of a grandmother I am when I watched a beauty Tiktok influencer get super excited about the new Hard Candy hydrating Chilling Wonder Powder like never in her life had she seen such a thing. And she probably hasn’t because she is pretty young. But gosh, it made me feel positively like her mother’s mom’s mom.

I mean back in 2012 I was blogging Legere Magic Water Cool Aqua Powder because at the time cooling powders were sort of trending in Asia but it wasn’t something common in the Western market even though MAC had covered it in 2011 with the MAC Venmous Villains Collection and the very cool Dr. Facilier MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder which inspired an entire Magically Cool Liquid Powder Collection.

Later on in life Becca decided to reinvent the trend with their Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder (it’s on sale currently at Ulta! Stock up if you love it as Becca goes bye bye soon!)

But anyway, this girl, just totally thought Hard Candy was doing something BRAND NEW AND SUPER EXCITING. It is exciting that there’s a new budget option available in a chilling powder. But new? Nope….been done before. It’s kind of fun though watching someone getting excited about something for the first time!

Hard Candys Sheer Envy Chilling Wonder Powder is a sheer, translucent, non-drying loose powder with a hydrating, cooling formula that delivers a refreshing cool feel during application. It can be used to set makeup for a smooth, flawless finish.

It’s available now at Walmart for under $6 bucks.

But between you and I, it’s not new or innovative and we’re not old. We’re just well seasoned.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ah, yes, thank you for reminding me of my extreme, visceral annoyance at 99% of the population. The part that thinks that “dated” is anything other than a neutral descriptor. I had forgotten how much people annoyed me… quarantine was so nice. Thoreau had it figured out. Signed, a 24 year old. 😛

I feel even older. I swear that Prescriptives had a cooling powder back when I was working in the beauty department and that was 2001!

Im not sore about being old. I was young once and age comes for us all, if were lucky. I like to find new things but theres no burning desire to be first or actually try to keep up with everything; its a fools game for the most part!

You are complete right! They did! I vaguely remember it from old adverts! I’m always sore about being old lol! I just wanna stay a kid forever ;-D But you’re right it’s impossible to keep up with everything especially something that is popular with a complete other generation 😀

Right there with you Jane!! Totally agree with everything you said – And I think the Px powder was called Magic somethin’ or other powder…. I never cared for it – it always felt weird to me!

      • Jane

Magic! Thats the one! I know, despite my store discount, I never got it. The wet/cooling feeling was neat on the hand but I always felt like it moved my makeup around on the face a bit.

Hi Jane! Welcome to the club because I remember the Prescriptives powder being the first one also!!! My friend used it for her wedding makeup back in the day. SMH

Didn’t prescriptives have something like that before all of them? Like 25 years ago? Errthang old is new again I guess! Yah, this is one of the reasons I don’t do social media – it’s a kid’s game and I don’t feel like playing.

Now get off my lawn!! 😀

    • Isabella Muse

Ooo memory evoked. I forgot about PF’s cooling powders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! Sorry Ma’am! I didn’t mean to step on the flower beds!

  • Bec

I am 24 and sometimes I feel really old on TikTok, I mean I do remember the Becca powder really well because that was in my time of having a blog & instagram. Pre-2014 I remember some things but not all because I couldn’t afford a tonne of makeup and wasn’t really following everything like I do now, I wore makeup but if it wasn’t by one of the big drugstore brands I wont remember

    • Isabella Muse

RIGHT!? If you feel old imagine how I feel lol! It’s so weird that tiktok things everyone is absolutely ancient! Haha!

  • kjh

You guys are good! Gotta stop that whippersnapper from letting his dogs POOP on the lawn. He cant look away from his phone and never brings bags! Im calling his mother. (Remember that one?) it was useless, bec the mum said, Not my my Johnny.

It’s so interesting seeing how younger people perceive things. I think I’m happy that most of the beauty/skincare vids I see are from people in their mid20s or later though.

  • Maria

Well. since I’m older than T Rex and dirt itself, but still remember….., Physician’s fromula? also made a powder that when you buffed or applied, it left a water feeling to it as well. I didn’t like it at that time.
Tik Tok, tick tok, tik tok, the clock goes 🙂 What’s a clock?

    • Isabella Muse

LOL Maria. Yeah me too! Pretty much about that time I was born as well! Yesss everyone was just talking about this in the comments!
