Hard Candy Selfie Cheek Tint Review & Swatches

Hard Candy Selfie Cheek Tint is a new, affordable universally flattering dewy cheek stain that Hard Candy launched for Summer 2022 a few short weeks ago. Ahh yes! Another case of what’s old is new again! Who remembers going through the cheek stain crazy a few years ago where every shade came out a bubblegum pink but was marketed as a “perfect pink that was universally flattering on all skin tones!”?

Stila had a few as I recall! One of which was the Coconut Crush Lip & Cheek Stain and of course, Benefit is the real OG with Benetint (and hey, if you haven’t tried Floratint yet what are you waiting for? It’s amazing!).

I’m always up for a good cheek stain, especially in the Summer. Cheek stains are always hard workers! They tend to last through pool and beach days, humid weather, hot weather, and beyond. They are pretty much the perfect pick if you want something that’s long-wearing and waterproof.

Not everyone is impressed with the “universally flattering” formulas as they tend to be straight-up bubblegum pink but I’ve never minded that much as I’ve never found one that didn’t work great for my skin tone and ended up giving me that I just kissed a boy I like flush of color.

Hard Candy Selfie Cheek Tint does that and more.

Of course, like most cheek tints of its kind, Hard Candy Sehflie is marketed as a “universally flattering blush that applies clear and adapts to your skin’s natural pH, instantly providing the perfect shade of natural flush”. Facts are facts my friends, the shade is clear but applies as a bubblegum pink! I think the good news is depending on your skin’s undertone you’ll find it goes warmer or a bit cooler on you but still the shade is all pink all day every day! I personally didn’t mind this and I readily admit this has been my weekend go-to cheek color of choice for the past month. It’s a swipe-and-go type of product that makes my cheeks have a natural blush. I end up looking healthy and awake when I wear it. I love it.

This comes in a chubby barrel with a big sponge-tipped applicator for application. It actually contains jojoba oil and does have light, sticky consistency that feels oily. It also has a super dewy finish which can absolutely be toned down! I’ll tell you how in a sec! I was initially horrified by the dewiness of the finish but I somehow started really liking the flush combined with the dewiness. It gave me that “I just worked out” look. I sort of had this dewy blushy look going on and I didn’t hate it.

Of course, if you don’t wanna feel like you have lipgloss on your cheeks all day it’s easy enough to tone down the dewiness! And yes, that is sort of what it feels like. It felt like I had applied a bit of lipgloss on my cheeks. All you need to do to diffuse the dewiness is dot a little on your cheeks (a little goes a long way by the way) and simply blend it in well with your finger. The more you blend it in the less dewiness you’ll end up with (in my photo below you can’t even see a hint of dewiness as I blended it really well)! This wears like a champion by the way! It’ll take you through a hot Summer day without fading not to mention you can go into the pool and still maintain color on your cheeks!

The pigment is fantastic on this so a single dab on each cheek is all I need for a flush of pink! The color looks natural on my cheeks and gives me the perfect Summer flush!

All in all, a rather cute and affordable way to get a quick bit of a flush! Definitely a must-have for anyone who likes to look like they are blushing naturally.
