5 stars out of 5

Cerave Hydrating Toner for normal to dry skin is a new pH balanced, hydrating toner that contains ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide which act to restore the skin’s natural protective barrier. This was launched recently along with the new Cerave Comforting Eye Makeup and Cerave Cleansing Balm.

I don’t normally use toner. I like a deeply hydrating essence after I wash my face and before the rest of my skincare. It’s been a long time since I actually used a toner in my routine! Remember those Seabreeze days!??! Ha…! No but in all seriousness, toner hasn’t really been part of my skincare routine in a while. I just go in with essence or HA immediately after a cleanse. But toner is a good way to balance your skin’s PH levels and also, to remove any leftover makeup, grease, oil, or dirt that your cleanser may have missed.

Cerave Hydrating Toner arrives in a 6.8 oz bottle and will set you back about $9-10 bucks. Yay Cerave for creating a formula that’s not only fragrance-free but also doesn’t contain alcohol or witch hazel. No idea why, but toners love to pop witch hazel into the mix of things as well as alcohol which can be drying as hell and break down skin’s collagen. No bueno.

This formula is indeed loaded up with plenty of ceramides in a water and glycerine base and also throws in Niacinamide to brighten up your complexion and Sodium Hydroxide to draw moisture to your skin (although, these are lower down on the ingredients list.. All in all, a nicely formulated toner that won’t strip or dry skin out.

I typically apply most liquid skincare products with my hands and gently press into my skin but in the case of Cerave Hydrating Toner I use a cotton round for application. I do this because I can whisk away any leftover makeup that my cleanser may have missed. I do a double cleanse which makes it rare for me to have any remaining makeup but I prefer the cotton round method for application nonetheless. This goes on easily and doesn’t leave my skin sticky or tacky after application. It also leaves my skin with just the right dewiness that makes the application of HA easier (as HA should always be applied on damp skin). After application, my skin feels smoother and my skincare applies easier.

I mean, I use so many products already in my routine I dunno if I’d say “WOW! You need Cerave Hydrating Toner NOW!” but I wouldn’t say no, to buying it on sale. I’ll probably re-purchase it after I’m done with this bottle. It’s not too bad a product at all and I like the idea of perhaps easing my skin and restoring any moisture I lost during my cleanse and even removing any dirt or oil my cleanser may have missed.

This one gets a thumbs up from me! Not a must-have but not a bad addition to my routine!

Glad to hear you like it! I bought it a while back because I had a coupon for Cerave so I just grabbed it; haven’t tried it yet, but I will soon! I’ve used toner for forever… It’s an automatic part of my face routine; wash, dry, tone. Even when my skin was a oilfield, I used some sort of toner like 10-0-6 (gah!!) Seabreeze – so drying but felt so good… and so on. I know better know plus I’m much drier than I used to be, so it’s nice to see there’s a decent toner at drugstores! They’re hard to find!

So, I’m using the same toner but it leaves a tackiness on my skin. I’m pretty sure I’m not overusing (also, I’m 66 and have been doing this stuff a LONG time, lol). I put some on cotton face pad and wipe on my face. I was using Neutrogena Alcohol free toner and it was doing the same thing.

are you completely dry before using it? Perhaps try palming it on?
