Bed Bath & Beyond’s Restructuring Efforts Failing

Bed Bath & Beyond’s latest restructuring efforts are sadly failing. As you know Bed, Bath & Beyond announced store closing last year and they also revamped their entire coupon and reward program. Funny enough a story about how their current efforts to remain relevant are failing came across my feed after I posted about being in a store that was looking rather sad. I stopped into my favorite location recently (it’s been a while since I’ve been to that store) to see what kind of fun foodie items and beauty they had. And the store was a tomb! They took out all the International food section, the beauty section was pretty sparse, and everything else was looking like they were either moving or closing up shop. I have a feeling after January they’ll be gone.

At the moment Bed Bath & Beyond is coming up woefully short in a debt exchange designed to give the company some financial breathing room. The company said that it would extend its debt exchange offer to December 19 from December 5.

According to reports Bed Bath & Beyond reported $168 million in losses due to the economic slowdown and inventory issues. We all have to remember Amazon also, contributes to much of the loss of brick-and-mortar stores like Bed Bath & Beyond. Bed Bath & Beyond has some harsh waters to navigate if they plan to remain relevant in the current economy. I’m not sure they’ll make it out alive.

I wish them well.

How is your store(s) doing?

My store has just totally redone it’s interior and frankly I hate it. It’s a disorganized mess now and while they have things like makeup that they didn’t used to have, it allL feels like it’s still under construction. I hope the whole chain doesn’t go under; but it ain’t what it used to be. I have a feeling they’re not long for this world…..

I stopped shopping at BB&B ever since they boycotted and stop selling My Pillow. See what happens when a company gets involve in politics.

Lindell’s company (makes MyPillow) has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. You have to be pretty unscrupulous for that to happen to your company. That rating has been there for several years.

This makes me sad. BBB was one of my favorite places to shop for household items and beauty. Ours is looking pretty sad. Shelves empty, and those that aren’t have little that interests me. I suspect you are right that come January they will be no more:(

I went in one last week for the first time in a while and was very disappointed and sad. The changes were not for the better. So much was their own brand now.

interesting! that I didn’t see! My store is just wiped. Appears to be closing. But didn’t see branded products! At checkout there’s a huge wall with tons of Simple Human trash cans and other trash cans and that’s all gone. Empty shelves. Maybe they are bringing in their own stuff? But I have doubts!
