4 stars out of 5

Pupa Delicious Cake Cherry Chocolate Cake Eyeshadow Palette ($19) is one of two new scented eyeshadow palettes that launched around Valentine’s Day. I haven’t picked up a Pula release in a long time. Although, an Italian brand Pupa was lumped in with my Japanese makeup obsessed several years ago since it was a pretty popular brand in Japan and I used to follow the releases pretty closely. I can go even further back and tell you about when Pupa used to be at Sephora. Who remembers that? They had these cute all-in-one palettes shaped like angels, squirrels, etc…For a while, I Heart Revolution did a cute round of Teddy Bear Palettes that reminded me of Pupa!

I picked this up from amazon.com of all places. I didn’t know they had a Pupa storefront but they do indeed. I paid a lot for it though at $19 as it only has four shades but Pupa has never really been a cheaper brand. I honestly didn’t need it but I was feeling all Valentine-y at the time and work stress was getting to me. Combine the two and suddenly, I had purchased the palette because it reminded me of Valentine’s chocolates, hearts, and roses plus retail therapy ya know?

This palette comes housed in a bright raspberry compact with a generously sized mirror and four eyeshadows inside. The total size is 0.25 oz in size. If the $19 price tag threw you keep in mind it’s a pretty generous helping of eyeshadow.

There are four shades two of which are matte and two metallics. The matte shades are a stark white and dusky rose and the metallic are cranberry and berry brown. White is a shade I likely won’t use very much. It was meant to highlight the brow bone and inner corner but I just find white looks rather bad on me. The other four shades are lovely. All three are pigmented with a firm texture but not drying or chalky. I appreciate the firmer texture I appreciated as I was able to easily pick up the color without getting a kick up of powder. The shadows apply smoothly and evenly on my eyes and blend flawlessly. I had no issues with creasing through the wear nor did the colors fade as the day wore on. I loved this color story. It was one of the main reasons I purchased it. The shades just work well so beautifully well together (aside from the white, sorry, just not into it). The eyeshadows are supposed to be scented like cake but I only get a very faint scent of chocolate. After I used the palette a few times to scent disappeared completely.

Do you need the Pupa Delicious Cake Cherry Chocolate Cake Eyeshadow Palette? Probably not at this price. It was just a cute spontaneous purchase for me. If it was cheaper, I’d probably say run to grab it but at $19 it’s a bit expensive plus some of you might struggle a bit with that white like I did which would mean you’re only using three of the four shades and that makes it a costly palette.

All, the Pupa Delicious Cake Cherry Chocolate Cake Eyeshadow Palette is cute but not a must-have.

Where to buy

a href=”https://go.shopmy.us/p-1274966″ rel=”noopener nofollow” target=”_blank”>Pupa Delicious Cake Cherry Chocolate Cake Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition four-shade palette that was introduced for Spring 2023. It’s a scented palette that’s supposed to smell like cake but to me, it smelled like chocolate. This scent disappeared after two uses of the palette. It contains two mattes and two metallics. All four are pigmented beautifully with a firm texture that was easy to pick up with my eyeshadow brush. They apply and blend well. It’s $19 and the palette is generously sized at 0.25 oz but I don’t think it’s a must-have just because I didn’t make much use of the stark white shade in this palette which cut me down to only three shades making it pretty expensive.

Pros

  • Pretty shades that work well together.
  • Excellent pigment, wear, and application.

Cons

  • Scented (could be an issue for sensitive users but the scent is very light and disappears after about two uses).
  • A bit expensive for only four shades (but they are fairly generously sized).

Who

Pupa Delicious Cake Cherry Chocolate Cake Eyeshadow Palette might be an appealing pick for fans of this brand but not everyone needs to grab this.

I still have a Pupa palette from when they were in Ulta 20+ years ago; one of those round ones where it opens up/swings out like an adult Polly Pocket. Couple of eye shadows, blush & highlighter & lip gloss.

Pupa BITD was adorable, creative, and almost avant garde. The tiny boxes that slid out to reveal….I have some in my retired stash, so fun.
