Tarte Shape Tape Corrector Review & Swatches
Tarte Shape Tape Corrector ($30) is a new color-correcting concealer that can be used under the eyes or on the face that’s available in nine shade selections. I don’t really have major dark circles which means I’m really guilty of picking up the peach shade just to brighten up my eye area and to use as sort of a lightweight weekend concealer. And guess what? It worked great just like that but at this price, I really didn’t need to indulge.
One of the biggest factors that went into this review was cost versus size. I’d have given this four out of five stars if it wasn’t so expensive and so much smaller compared to a regular Shape Tape Concealer. Shape Tape Concealer is $31 at 0.33 oz and this is 0.2 oz at $30 bucks. It’s a big enough difference to make me wince a bit. It’s also a product you don’t necessarily need because let’s be honest, Shape Tape Concealer is packed with pigment! I question if you really need to correct anything with the full coverage that the concealer formula offers. That being said…I do like this formula. I just don’t love the cost or the size. Also, I think that anyone suffering from some major dark circles will find this isn’t the cure-all they are hoping for.
As I mentioned above I got the shade Peach which promises to neutralize dark circles and discolorations on light to medium skin tones! I share said I love light-medium foundations and concealers with lighter peach undertones and I find them challenging to find. They work great with my light-medium skin that has a peachy/lightly warm undertone. If I could find this corrector shade in a concealer I’d be a very happy camper. It’s one of the reasons I purchased it as it’s my ideal shade of concealer. It works great to brighten up my eye area plus the formula is light, thin, blends easily, and doesn’t crease under my eyes.
This texture is lighter and thinner than Shape Tape Ulta Creamy Concealer and blends very easily under my drier eyes. It brightens up the area nicely but doesn’t quite hide all my tired flaws as well as I would like. I have to remind myself though this isn’t a concealer, it’s a corrector and if brightening is part of its correcting abilities it’s doing the job well! But it does lack the pigment needed to conceal very dark circles on light medium skin tones in my opinion. This means following up with concealer is necessary. The good news is since the formula is so thin that’s very easy to do without looking too overly done and made up. I personally, don’t bother since Shape Tape, as I mentioned above, is plenty for me. I use this as a lightweight concealer that I can dab on and go to during the weekend for a more natural look!
Tarte Shape Tape Corrector isn’t really something you absolutely need to purchase. It’s quite expensive and not quite that pigmented to work on really severe dark circles or baggage you may wish to hide. But on sale? I’d totally recommend a purchase as the formula is light, blends easily, and doesn’t crease or cake. It’s a keeper in terms of texture, formula, and performance! It’s just the prince that’s a bit cringeworthy.

Where to buy
Tarte Shape Tape Corrector is a new nine-shade range of correcting concealers that address dark circles and pigmentation issues. This formula can be used on your face or under your eyes and has a light, thin consistency that blends out very easily and wears well under heavier coverage. I liked this formulation a lot but I do wonder if it’s pigmented enough to correct very dark circles. I also, felt the price was a bit much at $30 for 0.2 oz when Shape Tape, which is already very pigmented, is $31 at 0.33 oz.
- Light, thin texture that blends easily.
- Doesn’t crease.
- Will wear well under heavier concealers.
- Not super pigmented, may struggle correcting major baggage.
- Expensive.
Tarte Shape Tape Corrector is a nice addition to anyone’s concealer routine but the price might be an issue for some.
