This lightweight gel-based moisturizer promises all-day hydration and contains natural moisturizing factors, beta glucan and ceramides and works to help strengthen the skin barrier. Although it is marketed as a moisturizer for all skin types it will be especially great for oily and combination skin thanks to the lightweight consistency. I read a few reviews that were very disappointed in this product and I can’t say I was. I liked it. A lot. But before you purchase it you need to realize one important thing…
Tis the season for gel moisturizers! It’s Summer. It’s hot and humid and lightweight skincare is the way to go! My skin is typically dry but even I can get bit oily and shiny in very warm weather. I like gel moisturizers because they are super lightweight while providing just the right amount of hydration that won’t be heavy in warm, humid weather and won’t add any excess oil or shine to the mix.
The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan is one great pick for exactly that reason. If you’re looking for long term, heavy duty moisture I’d recommend trying out The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Daily Moisturizer. In my opinion, that’s a far more hydrating formula compared to this new Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan. That being said, I think the Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan is ideal for Summer and warmer weather or for those with oily or combo skin.
This is a thick, gel consistency (it reminds me of hair gel) and I was a little concerned it would be sticky but it actually absorbs quickly and easily. It feels refreshing going on and doesn’t have any fragrance at all. It provides a very lightweight moisture for my dry skin. That’s why I think it’s best suited for the Summer months! As I mentioned above, the most important thing to realize when purchasing this product is that it isn’t an ideal pick for anyone with dry or super dry skin. If you desire lightweight moisture in the warm weather or just lightweight moisture in the day that wears well under makeup this is a great product. However, if you’re looking for something that will deliver long term, high levels of hydration this won’t be the product for you. This leaves skin smooth and lightly hydrated but it isn’t a super moisturizing product.
This does contain a host of incredible ingredients one of which is beta-glucan which is known to help minimize signs of aging and sun damage. It also contains Arginine which is also known for repairing skin damage. And Betaine which helps skin to retain moisture. Like all Deciem products this is a well formulated product with some standout ingredients.
The moisturizer comes in a squeeze tube that’s 3.3 oz in size for $13.50. I sort of wish they sold the 1 oz tubes which are $6.50. The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA comes in both the 3.3 oz and 1 oz sizes. I sort of would like to have a smaller version of this since it won’t make it into my Winter routine and a smaller size will get me through the few weeks of hot, warm weather.
The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan isn’t going to change your dry skin life. Go into this purchase knowing what to expect from the Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan and that would be lightweight moisture in a lovely, quick absorbing formula that wears well under makeup. Do not go into a purchase thinking this is going to be a super moisturizing moisturizer!
