Truly Birthday Sex Perfume Mist is one of three brand new perfumes that Truly Beauty released earlier this month. These actually popped up on Ulta’s website several weeks ago (back in the Summer) but they weren’t showing in stock for a while and suddenly one day this month they suddenly popped up and I immediately ran over to purchase all three of them. I happen to love the Unicorn Fruit Eau de Parfum that Truly put out and I recently purchased their newest launch which was the Coco Cloud Eau de Parfum.

Accordingly to Truly the Birthday Sex Perfume is a sweet, seductive, flirty fragrance with notes of jasmine and saffron. I immediately went there when I saw saffron! Right away BR540 dupe flashed before my eyes. Saffron is a pretty unique note and I’ve seen it in few fragrances and one of the most famous is of course, Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540.

Was I right?

These new Truly Beauty Perfume Mists arrive in a clear glass bottle that’s 3.38 oz in size and $23.90. The original EDPs are $48.90 to 1.69 oz. Oddly, I find the perfume mist formula seems a lot more longer wearing on me than the original Truly EDPs and the price is cheaper and the size is larger. I feel like that’s a total win.

Now, keep in mind, take my review with a grain salt because apparently after reading reviews everyone absolutely hates Truly Birthday Sex Perfume. Seems people think it stinks or it smells like alcohol and I don’t agree with that. To me it smells very much like BR540. Someone compared it to Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor in the Ulta reviews but I disagree because I always felt Beija Flor was a distant cousin of BR540 but not a twin. In the case of Birthday Sex you’re getting a lot more of the BR540 DNA. It’s not as sweet as BR540 and dare I say it doesn’t quite hit the way BR540 does. Something feels like it’s missing but I can’t pinpoint what it is….! I feel like BR540 has more complexity and depth where as Birthday Sex gets to the point very quickly. But they do smell a hell of a lot alike. And hey, if you simply can’t afford BR540 this is a nice budget way to try it out.

It’s fairly strong as well and has a nice scent bubble and projection. My skin doesn’t eat it up and it lingers on for a good four to give hours which surprises me considering both Unicorn Fruit and Coco Cloud aren’t as long-wearing.

If you’re going by the reviews on Ulta you might not be ready to blind buy Truly Birthday Sex Perfume Mist. Personally, I liked it. I dunno if I needed it since I do have the original BR540 but hey, this makes it easy for me to mist without feeling guilty I dropped major $$ on a fragrance.

Truly Birthday Sex Perfume Mist was a win for me. Have you tried it? Do share some thoughts on it!
