Truly Ma Cherie Perfume Mist Review
Truly Ma Cherie Perfume Mist ($23) is one of three new fragrances the brand introduced a few months ago. As you know already I’m really enjoying these! I already reviewed the Truly Birthday Sex Perfume Mist in a prior post and did feel it smelled like Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540. For some reason or another I thought I’d be smelling some sort of Dior Miss Cherie dupe when I got this considering Birthday Sex was so similar to BR540. It’s not at all and I love it. It’s gotten some really bad reviews but I think the fragrance world is lacking cherry fragrances and this is one! It’s a sweet, unique cherry blend. I love it. I wanna say Ma Cherie is my favorite in the three fragrances but it comes in at a close second as Glazed Donut is definitely my favorite!
All I keep hearing about these is how they smell strong of alcohol. I macerated mine for about a month and a half or more and I get absolutely no alcohol from them when I mist them on. You might want to try that if you do indulge in a bottle or two.
Truly Ma Cherie Perfume Mist comes in a heavy, clear glass bottle that’s 3.38 oz in size and $23.90. The original EDPs are $48.90 to 1.69 oz that Truly launched (Unicorn Fruit and Coco Cloud). I really think the perfume mist formula seems a lot more longer wearing on me than the original Truly EDPs plus the price is cheaper and the bottles are larger.
According to Truly, Ma Cherie is a “irresistible and exhilarating, this warm gourmand fragrance celebrates the feeling of falling in love.” It has a top note of black cherry, middle ones of almond and salted caramel, and a dry down of chocolate. I’m just going to say I found it a unique, sweet cherry and not to disappoint anyone but the almond, caramel, and chocolate aren’t something my nose detects. I actually don’t know what it is I’m smelling outside the delightfully sweet, cherry note. There’s something else in there that I can’t describe but makes the scent much more unique than mere cherry alone. It’s a warming note that tangles up with the sweet, succulence of the cherry and gives this fragrance a comforting and beautiful dry down. It’s sweet, girlish, even innocent in some ways but also, sort of warm and comforting at the same time.
Cherry is a note that can be difficult to pull off. To much and you end up with cough syrup too little and you end up not smelling the sweetness of it at all. I think Truly nailed it down beautifully allowing cherry to play a starring role in the fragrance without overwhelming it. This is a delightful little fragrance with a fairly decent wear of around 4 hours on my skin. I’m really not understanding the hate for these perfume mists! I actually loved all three of them.
