How To Get the Softest, Smoothest Feet of Your Life

About two years ago I ran across a Tiktok video that recommended two products to use in feet to get them smooth, soft, and well hydrated. You might have read the article I wrote about back then and who knows, you might have even tried the products I had purchased after watching that Tiktok. With Summer around the corner, I thought I’d revisit some of the products I’ve been using to get smooth, soft, hydrated feet. Summer is on the way and you’ll be having you feet on display a lot more often whether they are completely bare at the beach or pool or if you’re wearing a cute pair of sandals. No one wants to be running around with dry, crusty feet. I think in general it’s a good idea to not forget to take care of your feet regardless of whether or not you’re displaying them for the world to see. Caring for your feet is always a good idea as they are as important as other body parts. No one wants thick, cracked heels or soles that can be uncomfortable and painful.

There are a slew of ways you can get smooth, soft feet and one of the more popular ones is Baby Foot. You might remember my long-ago post on Baby Foot when it wasn’t yet available in the US and the brand had posted some of the most disgusting (yet oddly satisfying) images of people who used the product and had peeled layers and layers of deal skin from their feet. Shall we just revisit that for one second?

Why is so gross yet I can’t take my eyes off it? LOL! It’s like when you examine a Nose Strip after you’ve removed it and just celebrate the fact that there are those odd little plugs of dirt and oil in the strip. Baby Foot is now readily available in the US and even available at ulta.com! I’m a big fan of Baby Foot Moisturizing Foot Mask Booties. Those are a nice way to treat your feet to a little spa! But to maintain and keep feet their smoothest and softest here’s what I’ve been using and loving!

I’ve been doing this for the last two years and my feet have been so incredibly smooth thanks to this method. I saw results in about a week or so but you do have to be diligent with it because just like your face or body if you don’t hydrate things are going to get dry again!

I miss 1:1 ratio of PurOrganica Urea 40% Foot Cream with AmLactin Rapid Relief Moisturizing Cream and slip on socks before bed. In the morning, I use my Amope Pedi Perfect Pro (I love this thing with all my heart!) in the shower. You can always use a pumice stone as well! I will say, even without the use of the stone or pedi-tool my feet are still very soft and smooth but the stone does help remove the dead skin cells easily. Amlactin contains Lactic Acid and the Purorganic contains Urea both of which act to gently exfoliate skin overnight. You can use Amlactin on your body as well (I use it on my elbows and they are the smoothest they’ve ever been!). It’s SUPER moisturizing! I’ve also added O’Keeffe’s Foot Cream into the mix. This I use in the AM right after I’m out of the shower. As I said above I don’t miss a day doing this and I’ve had amazing results. I tend to get drier skin on the pad of my foot and I have if I leave it too long I do experience harder soles. I know when I started using the urea and lactic formula I was concerned my feet would be sensitive but I had no issues!

If you’re experiencing dry, cracked feet I’d highly recommend using this method for smooth, soft, well-hydrated feet. Do share your methods for getting soft feet! Do you use any special tools or creams?

There’s a polishing foot file on Amazon that I’ve been using for years in the shower and this thing is the bomb. It’s the Diamancel #11 polishing foot file. I use it every couple of days at the end of my shower when the thicker foot skin is softened up. I just sit down on my shower bench and polish away. It’s smooth and doesn’t feel like a cheese grater but man! Does it get the job done. I’ve always taken really good care of my feet and I don’t have cracked or split heels so ymmv. But this file definitely exfoliates and polishes. When I get out of the shower I massage in Burt’s Bees coconut foot cream and slip into terry cloth slippers. By the time I’m done faffing about getting dressed, the foot cream is completely absorbed and not slippery. Like you Muse I’ve got really dry skin and I live in a very arid climate. This foot cream is the only one I’ve ever used that my skin doesn’t eat until there’s no moisture left. These are the only 2 things I use but I use them religiously. I’ve had so many nail techs ask me what I do to maintain my feet and they marvel at the lack of calluses and cracked heels.

ok, need more info bc that thing is expensive…! Gimme more details LOL! It says it’s best used on dry feet is that right?

I’ve never used it on dry feet but I don’t see why you couldn’t. Maybe it’s just a sensory thing but I love how it feels after my feet have softened up in the shower. I feel like I can scrub a little bit harder without it being irritating. I hope that makes sense. I’ve been using this thing for YEARS and I guess because of the diamond powder it just doesn’t seem to ever wear out. Mine is still going strong. I love it so much I eventually bought 2 more as backups in case it was ever discontinued. Don’t need to tell the queen of backups why that is! It is more of a polishing tool than an actual callous remover. But it will polish off calluses over a period of time without tearing your skin up. I also use it on the skin around my toes, especially the big toe where the skin can get tough. It’s never once torn or abraded my skin. But again, I haven’t tried that on dry skin. But on my heels and bottom of my feet, yeah. It’s awesome.

My Feet are just about the ugliest things, I walk 5 miles a day and they are so neglected but I don’t have cute feet…….I have BIG FEET,, they look like they belong on a cavewoman so I never let them see the light of day in public, never wear sandals or open toed shoes so I just figure it doesn’t matter what they look like if I’m the only one who sees them

Awww 🙁 It’s still a good idea to keep them soft and smooth since as we get older we could run into health issues and having soft feet means less cracking/risk of wounds! I walk daily too! 4 miles every AM! I recommend moisturizing before you walk and slipping on softer socks. You’d be surprise how much nicer your feet when walking with smoother feet!

LOL we are early birds!! I walk at 5 AM, Good for us! They say it’s the best form of exercise.
I’ll try and take better care of my feet. I ordered a foot peel mask off Amazon yesterday!
I have a hard time with lotion even though my skin is SO DRY. I just don’t like the slimy feel of lotion. I’ve been working on my hands and nails for a while now and trust me, I have to force myself to put on hand lotion.

        • Isabella Muse

haha but I’m not a morning person so don’t get any ideas I am! I’d sleep until 5pm if I could and stay up till 5am. I just get up the same time daily and stick to my routine because I’m strict with myself. Otherwise I’d totally be sleeping in ;-D But agreed! Walking is def awesome exercise! I’ve done some light jogging in the last two years as well. I’ve worked through that. I hate how sticky it feels under my clothes but I’ve come to realize it’s better to be hydrated than dry ;-D so I gave in to the stickiness lol!

Baby Foot used to cost 19.99, now they’re $25.00 and you can fund them at CVS, Target, and Walgreens. I purchase them from Good Morning America GMA Deals and Steals and they are 50% off. I love them. I also purchase Bare Foot Scientist when they’re 50% of on GMA.

I remember them at $15 a box. Times have changed. You can get them on sale at ulta right now as well. They are often on sale.
