These Two Affordable Eye Creams Are Working Out Well For Me

Wakey, wakey friends! It’s a new week! It’s been a cold and rainy in New York (we got snow Saturday and yesterday). My boyfriend left for CA last week and he was supposed to be back already but sadly, his stay got extended and he’ll be back tomorrow (it was supposed to be today but sigh not happening). I miss him rather badly but it’s ok because I had a lot of ME time. Actually, I’ve sort of been lazy which is unusual for me as I tend to have 1000 things going on at once. I think the rain and cold just made me enjoy the time I took out for myself last week. I’ve been watching a few old dramas I love and discovering some new unhinged ones as you may know if you follow me on Insta. I realize I have a type because all the male leads have glasses. Sniff insert clingy girl here: I miss my boyfriend (he wears glasses as well). My recap is above because I know you need it LOL! I can’t remember the last time I actually sort of binged watched anything. I never have the time for it. So, it’s been fun being a fangirl again.

I’ve also been overdoing the self care! The cold is making my skin dry so I’ve been moisturizing, masking, and exfoliating. Speaking of moisture I did discover two a new eye cream and eye serum duo I’m loving at the moment and they’ve been working out well for me! Plus did I mention they aren’t too badly priced?

BYOMA just released a new Barrier Repair Eye Cream ($14.99) that I’m loving. I use it in conjunction with the Byoma De-puff and Brightening Eye Gel which I’ve been using for a few months now and really enjoy. I thought Byoma’s Barrier Cream felt a lot like Drunk Elephant’s Ceramighty. They don’t have the same ingredients but for some reason the textures seem similar and they have the same sort of emollient texture. For such a thin eye cream it’s a very hydrating formula. I apply the eye gel first thing out of the shower on my damp skin. I let that absorb and I follow up with the Barrier Repair Eye Cream after. This combo seems to do a nice job depuffing and moisturizing my under eye area. Best part these are priced at $13.99-$14.99. Can’t beat that! I realize I’m not BYOMA’s demographic but I can’t complain about the moisture levels of the Barrier Repair Eye Cream! I’ll do a more detailed review soon as haven’t been using the formula that long but so far so good!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I have been using their Hydrating Serum. The instructions say to leave your skin slightly damp after washing. Then apply serum and follow up but sealing with a moisturizer. It seems to be helping my combination skin deal with the flip-flopping weather. I’m not in the demo either but people say their products are good for people with sensitive acne prone skin like me.
I will definitely try these eye products. They sound perfect for this pollen ridden world I’m living in now.

We got rain instead of snow, but it did get down to freezing one night after being 80 degrees just a few days prior.

I use the depuff gel on wet skin too! I’ve just started applying most of my products on damp skin lately I feel like they work better for some odd reason! Oh no sorry! allergies suck 🙁 Be well girl! Weather is WEIRDDDDDDDDDDDD! We have a bit of a better today but snow in April is diabolical.

Have you tried Medicube’s Deep Lifting Peptide Eye Cream? It moisturizes but does not leave you greasy or irritate your eyes. I always have a tough time with eye creams/gels irritating my eyes. I found this one to be gentle but moisturizing and great under makeup.

    • Isabella Muse

I haven’t! I feel like medicube has been forced fed to me by every Tiktoker lately so it kind if put me off. I tried their sheet masks and never liked them! But the eye cream sounds good. Is it super rich or more lightweight?

  • Layce

Well it was 88° in Dallas yesterday. Not ready for that heat yet!!! Lol.

Just wanted to say that I’m not in byoma’s demo either(40), but I am OBSESSED with the barrier repair treatment (light purple bottle) for the face, and the phyto mucin glow serum. They are SOO good!! Like SO SO SO GOOD!!!! LOL. You MUST try them!!!!!

    • Isabella Muse

stop showing off LOL! I wish it was hot here! On my list now! Thanks for the rec 😀 The phyto mucin sounds awesome!

  • Andrea

Oh my gosh, Muse. I’ve been getting your e-newsletter for years and did not realize you watched Asian dramas. Just found your insta and see your Secretary Kim posts. It’s on the top of my Watch Next list…(PSJ – sigh, so dreamy-just watched him in Itaewon Class and A Witch’s Romance.) What else do you recommend?? Cheers, Andrea

    • Isabella Muse

oh gosh yeah for years and years now! I did a Coffee Prince review on the blog a million years ago LOL! maybe you missed it! I sort of had a week of me time and have been rewatching my favs. I never have time to enjoy them anymore so I was really having a time of it last week! I just re-watched Secretary Kim! You haven’t watched yet? Do it 🙂 You’ll love it! Witch’s Romance is too cute (giving off those my lovely sam soon vibes 🙂 Itaewon Class was good too! What’s your trope? I got a rec for all of ’em! Stoic guy, skinship, C-Drama steamy, Thai BL (daouoffroad, bossnoeul, name your fighter LOL), rich guy poor girl, enemies to lovers, period pieces, or if you want unhinged, I got unhinged a plenty LOL! are you watching top form? I think we’re all in our top form era at the moment.

      • Andrea

Ah – thank you in advance for your recs! I’ll try to track down that Coffee Prince review – just *loved* that drama.
I’m on my second year of full-on Asian content (almost no Western shows in my queue these days). Of the 50+ dramas I’ve watched so far, I find I prefer Romance (from chaste fish-eyed kisses to steamier skinship) as well as Slice-of-Life. My hands-down favorite drama so far, is Yumi’s Cells.
I’m loving catching up on older classics such as You’re Beautiful, Faith, Misaeng, every version of Hana Yori Dango/BOF, tee-hee. Enemies to lovers stories are so compelling.
Also loving Noona romances like Witch’s Romance/My Queen, Flower Boy Ramen Shop, Find Yourself, Kimi Wa Petto, The Rational Life – one of the only places you find strong, capable, top-of-their game female characters.
And just *loved* (sobbing through several boxes of tissues) Love Between Fairy and Devil – so looking for more Xanxia.
        Thanks again, Andrea

        • Isabella Muse

It’s buried in the archives somewhere ;-D There are so many of them it’s easy to get lost 😀 That’s crazy you’ve had over a year of all Asian content! Awesome! Yumi’s Cells is a really interesting concept! It’s been a while so hopefully S3 drops soon! I think Noona romances bring a certain maturity to dramas as sometimes the FLs can be a little silly when they are twenty-ish. I started Love Between Fairy and Devil but I got weirdly turned off because the subtitles were really bad and really fast. You’ve made me curious to pick it back up as you aren’t the first person who said I really need to get through it. Have you seen Bromance? Worth a watch if you like the undercover girl posing as boy trope from Coffee Prince. And Baron Chen is so fine. There are some oddly weird dramatic moments in but it really is a fun watch! Also, Bii is in it and he does the soundtrack. It felt like Bii was playing himself in it LOL! Because Bii is so soft spoken and quiet and his character is the same. If you liked Itazura na Kiss you might enjoy an incurable case of love. The female lead is ridiculous but I really enjoyed how she grew and matured in the series. My lovely sam soon an obvious one that you probably saw but worth a mention since you enjoy the noona romances. As a old school Rain fangirl of course, recommending Full House! I love a good cohabitation drama 😀 You’ve prob already seen it but Goblin aka Guardian: The Lonely and Great God? Interesting supernatural romance/drama. I also adore Two Spirits Love with Mint Chalida. She’s so beautiful and I dunno this was an interest reincarnation love story. Take this one with a grain of salt because I’m a Mik fan girl but I think Once Upon a Time…In My Heart is awesome! Also, take it with a grain of salt as it’s a rec coming from a BossNouel fangirl but I loved The Boy Next World. They have really cute chemistry together. I love how caring Boss is to Nouel’s character (they both play into that ship so hard in interviews and when they are out and about together it just makes you swoon in joy and suspend reality for a sec and start believing they are a real couple). He’s always taking of him and he’s just so adorable to watch. Also, you are my glory is soooo good! Oh gosh I can go on and on and on LOL! I hope I don’t bore you!

        • Isabella Muse

oh one more! When the phone rings was actually really good too! Suspense, romance, good stuff!

          • Andrea

Thank you so much for all the recs – on my list! Are there any favorite forums/sites you go to chat about dramas?
I can’t overstate how blessed we are to have (often volunteer) translators doing the good work of giving us English subtitles.
You know, it’s funny, I’ve been reading your posts since 2014 and I’m now remembering how you were the first blogger I found to write about Asian cosmetics/skin care. So I *should* have guessed you’d be immersed in Asian pop culture. Now I’m going to listen to Got7’s latest comeback and search on your blog for your old posts about dramas 😀 Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!

Oh gosh my pleasure! I can go on and on. Absolutely reddit but also, Tiktok can be really fun to interact with all the other fan girls. They’re pretty wild but somehow, someway you get a real sense of community on Tiktok with other fans. It can be cool when the stars interact with all of us too as some of them aren’t shy about reposting content, liking comments, or even commenting back. Some are big on fan service. I really like https://www.reddit.com/r/JDorama/ because it’s a smaller community and sometimes doramas can be an acquired taste (especially manga come live action) and the smallness makes it nicer to talk to people and get to know them plus share our fav series, etc…! If you really want community but with a little bit of toxicity https://www.reddit.com/r/ThaiBL/ is the way to go. I have not found better fans than BL fans. They are hardcore and can be really fun to interact with, get to know, and of course, obsess with. If you want reviews and stuff on new dramas I have a host of great blogs that do them! Let me know can make you a list! Thank YOU for remembering that! I see so many people acting like Asian beauty is brand new and never before seen but it’s like guys, it’s been around a while and I’ve talking about forever and a day 🙂 Glad you remember that. Didn’t they drop Winter Heptagon already? What you really need to see is Nouel with that Step Up video. How that boy switches like that is creepy coolness! Blink your eyes and suddenly he goes from omega to alpha haha! I hope you had a wonderful Easter too! Can’t wait to talk more drama 🙂
