Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor ($11.99) is a new ten shade collection of budge-proof liquid lip color with a vinyl-like shiny finish that doesn’t smudge nor transfer. Maybelline promises 16 hours of wear from this formula.

And I’d just like to say I’m pretty much the only person alive that dislikes the original Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink which makes me fear trying to the new Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor! I tried, I really tried but Super Stay Matte Ink is so suffocating to me not to mention oddly tacky. I swear this formula reminds me of a NARS compact after being in a draw with other makeup. You know how the old NARS rubber compacts would collect lint, powder, and other gross crumbs, and suddenly, the compact would feel all sticky and tacky. That’s how my lips feel when I wear Super Stay Matte Ink. Tacky, sticky, yucky….! Not a good feeling.

Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor is tempting as I’m addicted to anything shiny but I’m worried about the potential sticky, tacky feel. Mind you, I’m alone in this feeling as the original formula was raved so hard and so high across social media that I felt very alone on my island of hate while everyone swam happily in the waters Super Stay Matte Ink.

But as I said, I could be tempted because shine! Super Stay Matte Ink does have a hint of a shine but it does dry down to a matte finish in the end. Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor is just as long-wearing but apparently has a much shinier finish. Maybe it’s just what I need to get rid of that dry, tacky feeling.

We’ll see!

Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipcolor is launching now at drugstores and is available at Ulta.

Ooh, I hope these will be like the Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss that was discontinued – I loved that formula. Felt a little goopy going on but lasted forever and not at all drying. I have found the matte ink to be horribly drying, and also oddly tacky despite trying everything when I put it on – rub lips together, blot, leave alone to dry…

Please, please, please do a review of these, Muse! I miss your reviews!

Hey Leslie! I used to like Stila’s formula too! Great stuff. Glad I’m not alone in thinking how tacky they were. I really disliked the finish! Felt horribly uncomfortable. Aw thank you! I’m so so sorry for the lack of reviews. Work has been nuts lately and I really fell behind please forgive me? Slowly getting back into it 🙂

I agree with the tacky feeling. Hated it too. I’m really liking the nyx lingerie ones – they feel light.

Is it just my screen? Several of the colours in the promo photo look awfully similar. I’d be willing to try this since I love the idea of shine after too many lip cookouts that made lips look like felt!!

Loved my Lip Vinyl.. could not believe it when I tested for transfer on my coffee cup!! Zip, nada! Gonna get ALL THE SHADES!!

I tried it and it felt really tacky. When I tried blotting, thinking maybe I just put too much on, some of the tissue stuck to my lips. I ended up wiping it off as best I could, which was really difficult. I’ll give it another try, because I didn’t realize you were supposed to shake it up for 5 seconds first and I want to try putting on a thinner layer. But I don’t have high hopes.

I’m late on this—just purchased the Vinyl Ink and literally googled “Maybelline Vinyl Ink sticky” and your post popped up. I also hate the o.g. Super Stay!!! You are not alone, there are two of us!
I felt like it never dried down and I thought I was using too much at first. Nope. It just feels gross and sticky. Also, my experience was that it wasn’t really long wear and the color would wear away except for my lip line which was almost like a stain that was impossible to remove.
Alas, I think the new shiny version will be the same. I’m about 20 minutes in and it still feels tacky and sticky. Like my lips are sticking together. We’ll see how it wears…
