As you may know Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Talc-Free Vegan Powder is now available correcting shades which are Peach, Banana, and Pink shades. I’ve been using powder to set my concealer under my eyes for year. I’m not sure which one of you it was but someone told me a hundred years ago I could absolutely use powder under my eyes and the trick was to use a blending brush to apply. The blending brush doesn’t pick a lot up and it allows you to sweep a small amount under the eyes without overdoing it. That trick has stuck with me for years and it’s how I’ve set my concealer every after. I decided I wanted to purchase both Kosas Banana and Peach Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Talc-Free Vegan Powder to use under my eyes. I’m currently pretty happy with my Pat Mcgrath Sublime Perfection Blurring Under-Eye Setting Powder and Hard Candy Sheer Envy Banana Powder but hey, I’m always up to try something new. And also, I had a small size of the Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder I had purchased a while back ago and I actually liked it. I’m not a big powder use but on a rare day I feel like being fancy and will use it to set my makeup and the Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder was always a good pick as it was super smooth and didn’t adhere to my drier skin. It seemed like a no brainer to try the Peach and Banana shades as well!

Bad idea.

Ok, so everyone is going talc-free as we know! The makeup world is a changing and it’s not always for the better formula-wise as I do believe that talc does taking away from the formula of a good powder blush or setting powder. I was surprised I liked NARS Edge Talc-Free Powder Blush. It isn’t the formula I know and love but it also, wasn’t awful.

Now the thing someone has to remind me of is was Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder always talc-free? I can’t recall and my small compact doesn’t have the ingredients listed. I’m not sure if it was always talc-free or if the formula just became talc-free recently. The reason I’m asking is because the Banana and Peach powders I purchased are dramatically different than the setting powder I have. These are awful. When they launched a few weeks ago Kosas has a big brand trip and all these Tiktokers were raving this formula which of course, made them tempting to buy. Because hey, even as a seasoned makeup buyer I still fall for all the, “OMG YOU NEED THIS!” moments sometimes. I’m not sure what formula these people were using but this formula is dry as hell not to mention it’s oddly chunky. Of course, they’ll always be powders that create a lot of powdery dust up but this isn’t powder it’s just little flakes of powder. It’s odd. Especially because it’s a baked formula as I love Laura Geller Baked Balance-n-Brighten Powder! It’s soft, silky, and looks so incredible on my skin. But Kosas could never…! This powder is just chunky and dry as all hell. It looks HORRIBLE on my skin. I’m a dry skin girl but rarely do I have issues with powder products looking bad since I do a lot of prep work before makeup application. But I could use hundreds of hydrating products and I think this would still look dry as hell on me. This is a great one for really oily skin but for anyone that even has a small amount of dryness please avoid at all costs. The powder settles onto drier areas crazily and even on areas that aren’t dry it looks like you applied a super thick layer of powder. Not the look I’m going for when I apply makeup of any kind! You can see below what I mean about how it flakes and chunks up.

Kosas Banana and Peach Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Talc-Free Vegan Powder was a big waste of money for this girl. If you have more mature skin, dryness, or combination I’d avoid it. It might work for very oily skin but for the rest of us this one was just a bust. I regret spending money on it. A big no for me.

I was really interested in checking out the banana one because I’ve been using and absolutely loving the cloud set powder for over a year. Disappointed to hear these aren’t up to that same level but that’s good for my wallet.

question was cloud set always talc-free? I wasn’t sure! I love the original too! I’m not a big powder person because I have drier skin but cloud set is actually really lovely but this is awful! REALLY really dry! Too dry in my opinion! If you have oily skin it might work but for someone that’s dry nope! plus don’t love it’s not as silky and smooth as the original! It’s sort chunky and flaky :-/

I didn’t keep the packaging so I don’t know if it’s always been talc-free. I have combination skin and cloud set replaced my Laura Mercier loose powder that I’d loved for years. I have one of the new blushes too and haven’t had any issue. those pans and swatches don’t look great so something clearly didn’t translate to these new ones. It’s unfortunate.

the blushes are amazing love them! So natural and lightweight! I didn’t either and I’m kicking myself. I purchased the smaller compact about a year and a half ago and that formula def is NOTHING like the corrector ones I got. I’m so sad as I thought they’d be great under my eyes but no way! Too dry 🙁
