Huda Beauty Lawsuit for Unsafe Eyeshadow Palettes

A class action lawsuit has been allegedly taken out on Huda Beauty due to last year’s Neon Obsessions Palettes being falsely advertised as eyeshadows. A lot of people tend to jump on me when I mention in my reviews that certain eyeshadows or palettes are not safe for eyes. “But it’s safe in the Europe….! It’s just a US thing!” First off, I live in the US so, yeah, it’s a US thing and in the US certain dyes are deemed unsafe for eye use. Secondly, they are deemed unsafe for eye use for good reason. Some people have sensitive eyes and these dyes can irritate sensitive eyes and cause an allergic reaction. That’s why they say “unsafe for immediate eye use”. Thirdly, I can’t review an eyeshadow palette and not explain in my post that certain shades shouldn’t be used on your eyes!

When Huda released the Neon Obsessions Palette they were deemed “Eyeshadow Palette” on sites like Sephora. Sephora actually switched that around within days of my review and started called them “Palettes”. There were also numerous beauty sites that took to advertising the launch as an eyeshadow palettes doing a variety of different looks using them, etc…never once alerting the user that the formula was a pressed pigment and wasn’t meant for immediate eye use. There’s a lot of loop holes with the disclosure of what is and isn’t eye safe. Brands like Colourpop, ABH, and others have gotten away with how they disclose that information to consumers.

In the case, of the Neon Obsessions Palettes things were really sneaky because there was no mention of the palette being unsafe unless you thought to peel back the first label on the palette to reveal a secondary label with the disclosure. Most people probably didn’t do that and just assumed and trusted the palette could be used safely on their eyes.

According to a report on the Top Class Actions website the claimant in the website suffered physical injury, including eye irritation, as a result of using the Neon Obsessions Palette.

Did I see this coming? Yes. I think it was just a matter of time before someone got sued for this. I think brands need to take more responsibility for the way they advertise things. I swear I was all Thanos here for a sec, “I finally rest and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe.” Because seriously, I’ve been ranting about this topic for ages now. I’m not happy by any means Huda is being sued. That sucks. I am however, hopeful this will open the eyes of brands and make them more transparent with their fans.

What do you think of this lawsuit?

What Are You Most Insecure About and What Beauty Product Do Use To Make You Feel Better About It?

Some people use makeup as a mask to help them with their insecurities and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Makeup is an empowering tool that goes a long way at making us feel better about insecurities we may have. It makes us feel pretty when we aren’t feeling so pretty! It makes our dark circles magically disappear. It makes our noses slimmer. It tackles the difficult job of concealing scarring or acne or dark spots.

Isn’t it a little miracle that something as simple as putting on red lipstick makes us feel like we can take on the world?

I use makeup as a bit of way to hide away my own insecurities. Do you?

Welcome Back to the Year 2000 When Lancome Juicy Tubes Were Popular

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Someone at Lancome was brainstorming recently and they were like, “Guys, guys, guys! Let’s bring Juicy Tubes back!” Yup, their back! Lancome Juicy Tubes are back and available for your purchasing pleasure at Sephora and we’re back to the year 2000. And that’s ok, I’ll re-live Y2K if I can get out of COVID-19.

For the record, just because Juicy Tubes left the building back in 2018 didn’t mean I wasn’t still into glossy lips. If anything at all, I was still on a quest to find all the best glossy glosses and make them mind (still am I). It hasn’t been that long but I can’t remember being completely gaga over Juicy Tubes. They were nice, the formula was ok, but I don’t recall have any pokemon disease to collect them all when they were around.

Are you happy Lancome Juicy Tubes are back or are just eh on their return?

Lancome Juicy Tubes are available now at Sephora.

P.S. How you doing over there? Welcome to Monday! I think it’s Monday! Naa, seriously it really is Monday. I’ve been pretty good keeping track of the days even though I joke about not recalling the day of the week. We have to have some sense of normal right? Keeping track of the days seems normal to me! I’ve been up since 5AM and trying to get some posts all sorted. I don’t really have much cleaning to do. At this point every surface in my home is sparkling because cleaning and organizing stuff is somehow therapeutic for me! I know I’m off my review game lately and I’m sorry! I’m trying to get back into that head space soon for you! Is there something you’ve been wanting to see reviewed? Drop me a line and let me know. Please take care of yourself today. Be safe if you’re at work or outside.

Oh Hey, Too Faced Papaya Pop Eyeshadow Palette How You Doing Today?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

We spoke about the new Too Papaya Pop Eyeshadow Palette that’s being added to the Tutti Frutti Collection for Summer 2020 a few weeks ago. It had an early preview launch on QVC and it’s now available at Ulta if you want to pick it up.

I know some of you are tired of peach palettes but I never really get tired of them. They are just my jam. I love peaches and corals especially for Summer looks. Although, in reality, the shades don’t really look all that peachy! I do see a duochrome in there which may excite some people! I think some of the original Tutti Frutti Eyeshadow Palettes weren’t quite what I wanted but I can see myself picking up Papaya Pop. And yes, it does smell like papaya because we’re all 7 years old and need scented makeup in our lives like we need scratch n’ sniff stickers.

The palette includes the following shades:

  • Bikini Optional
  • Mai Tai Me Up
  • Papaya Don’t Peach
  • Island Fling
  • Ay, Papaya
  • Umbrella Drinks
  • W’Sup Beaches

Will you be scooping up the Too Faced Papaya Pop Eyeshadow Palette?

Too Faced Papaya Pop Eyeshadow Palette is available now.

It’s A YOLO Makeup Day Start Opening That Makeup Vault I Need to See What’s Inside

If you read my long-winded Instagram post yesterday you know I spent part of the day opening up Star Wars Collectibles that I purchased on May 4th. It was a just because moment…! I sat on the floor, I hauled it all out, and I ripped into with my teeth.

About 75% of it was never supposed to be opened at all. I was planning on displaying in the packaging or hoarding it away somewhere. But if this current situation has taught me anything at all it’s you only live once. Let me tell you, I even threw out the damn boxes. You know I always keep the boxes right? There was a time in my life when I used to keep all my MAC boxes. I mean, even shades that were permanent I’d keep in the box. WTF was I thinking?

Remember when MAC pigments were all the things? I used to buy a backup of LE shades. Another thing, I’ll never truly understand about myself. Why am I buying backups of all this crap? With age, comes plenty of experience as I never, ever buy backups of anything anymore. My makeup stash is massive I do NOT need to do the backup thing because I’ve realized most everything can be duped at some point. A few years ago I came to the epiphany that I really needed to start using the makeup I purchased. I used to store away all my limited edition makeup pieces. I still have a perfectly pristine Givenchy Prisme Solitaire Precious Diamond All Over Powder in my beauty vault and the sad thing is now it’s too old to actually enjoy. I do wish I used it when I purchased it instead of hoarding it away like a magpie.

It didn’t take COVID-19 to make me realize I should enjoy my makeup though (it did take it to realize I should be enjoying my collectibles though!). I realized that makeup is meant to be enjoyed even special limited edition pieces should be cherished and used because life is too short to hoard all the beautiful things away. I do urge you today to go through all your beautiful makeup, stuff you haven’t used or you’re saving for a rainy day and just enjoy it. Life is too short, we only have two eyes, one set of lips, and one face. We are unfortunately not Zaphod Beeblebrox! So, go forth my lovely beauty junkies and open the beauty vault.

And pretty please tell me what’s inside your beauty vault that you haven’t used!
