Tarte Holiday 2018 arrived yesterday featuring a new Sweet Escape Collector’s Set and Eyeshadow Palette as well as other gifts sets and I’m probably skipping all of it. Gulp! Did I say that?

So, here’s the scoop. Tarte Holiday 2018 Collection has a theme this year and it appears to be Hawaii with flamingo shaped makeup brushes, pineapple palettes, and an entire array of Christmas in Maui deal going on. Cute but I’m not really feeling it oh so much? I’m a New Yorker who likes to rant about the weather. You see, you’ll meet complete strangers in Manhattan at a Starbucks and just starting talking about how boiling hot it is outside or how much snow is on the floor. Truly we love bitching about the weather in New York. But we also like living through each of the seasons no matter how much we complain. That’s why I’m not really into this collection. Summer is Summer, Winter is Winter, I’m not so into combing the two. I like snow and Christmas trees, and hot cocoa, and snowmen, I don’t want flamingos in my Holiday Collection.

However, that’s actually another story and not why I’m skipping Tarte Holiday 2018.

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty continues today with brand new steals and deals that will save you 50% or more. Curious minds, what have you purchased so far? I got some Hoola, Kopari Save Face Oil, Skyn Iceland Eye Gels, Too Faced Primer, Becca Primer, and so far that’s it. Today I’m going to grab some of the Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint ($10) even though I HATE matte long-wearing lipsticks I really love how these look with clear gloss on top! They pop! I have rather fond memories of Benefit Hoola Bronzer because like Benetint it was my introduction into the world of Benefit Cosmetics. If you really want to go way back with me maybe you remember Aruba in a Tuba but that would show our age wouldn’t it? No, but seriously, one of my first intros to Benefit was, in fact, Benetint and Hoola both of which made a guess starting appearance on my face for years. You know me as someone who HATES bronzer with a passion but I actually have a fondness for Hoola simply because it works so well with cheek stains like Benetint. In the Winter, when my skin is looking rather pale and lackluster I dab a little Benetint on my cheeks and dust on a tiny bit of Hoola and I’m instantly looking like I hit the beach. I can’t really wear Hoola solely by itself but it’s a bronzer I like to combine with other items to add warmth to my face when I need it. It also works pretty darn great as an eyeshadow too.
