Lipstick Queen Launches First Ever Lipstick Primer

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Lipstick Queen Girls Will Be Boys Lipstick & Primer ($25) is the brands first ever lipstick primer and considering we live in a world of mattes this is the perfect way to prep lips prior to color application. But wait there’s more! It’s also acts to give lips a kissable look.

According to the brand it’s not so much a shade but a tone that changes the appearance of your lips makes them look like you’ve been using them all night. Kissing I suppose? Ahem…!

It’s actually matte in finish but has a suede-like texture that provides hydration while filling finer lines and giving a smooth, even finish on lips. Apparently the finish is photoshop-like in appearance. It contains vitamin E, shea, and mango butters to give it a soft, cushy texture that hydrates as it preps for lipstick or of course, it can be worn alone.

It looks lilac in the swatch that Lipstick Queen provided and gray or translucent in the promo photos. But I suspect it’ll likely turn pink like most pH lip balms do.

We shall see though! I like the way they describe the texture. I mean, I don’t like matte by any means but I suede sounds positively lovely! And I can always use a prep for my lipsticks.

Lipstick Queen Girls Will Be Boys Lipstick & Primer is available now at ulta.com and should be launching soon at nordstrom.com.

Lancome Just Made the Quintessential French Dessert Quite Pricey

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Bonjour Mes Petits! Comment vas-tu aujourd’hui? How’s my high school French? Bad I suspect! Speaking of French shall we chat French desserts? For example, the quintessential French dessert, macarons which are tasty little piece of heaven.

Macarons are a weird animal because somehow, someway they made their way from simply being a dessert to gaining a cult following that extends to housewares, stationary, accessories, and of course, makeup. Over the years, I’ve reviewed and features quite a few macaron themed makeup and beauty like It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm, Secret Macaroon Delight Deodorant (yes, I realize the spelling is wrong but that’s how Secret spells it), My Beauty Diary Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Facial Sheet Mask, and many others. Macarons just have that whimsical cuteness that not only makes them a tasty treat but a very cute accessory.

Hell, Ladurée even has their very own makeup collection! Needless to say macarons are a big business.

Now depending where you buy macarons they can be expensive or cheap. Oddly enough ones I’ve purchased in France are a few bucks cheaper than the ones you can purchase right here in Manhattan.

But the ones from Lancome are by far the most expensive of all 🙂

Estee Lauder Eyeshadow and Lip Palettes for Spring 2018

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Golden Nudes, Intense Nudes, and Red Corals are just some of the new Estee Lauder Eyeshadow Palette and Lip Palette shades launching for Spring 2018 that I want in on. Typically Estee Lauder Bronze Goodness starts popping up around this time of the year but imagine my surprise when I came across these new eyeshadow and lip palettes as they aren’t quite Estee Lauder’s normal offerings (aside from the Bronze Goddness release which does typically contain a shadow palette).

They actually come as a pleasant surprise because Estee Lauder does’t always capture my eye even though they have some very good core products. I tend to look forward to their seasonal releases but they are lacking sometimes. These new palettes I can definitely get excited about.

St. Ives Apricot & Manuka Honey Cleansing Stick Review

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

St. Ives Apricot & Manuka Honey Cleansing Stick ($9.99) is one of three different St. Ives Cleansing Stick formulas that are launching now at drugstores for Spring 2018 season. Cleansing Sticks are becoming quite popular at the drugstore this season with many different brands launching a variety of cleansing and exfoliating sticks. These are pretty handy if you travel a lot of you wash your face after a gym session and need something portable and easy to use. I like them well enough. I think they are convenient for travel but they aren’t my go to for daily cleansing as I tend to stick to my regular nightly cleanse ritual and rarely deviate from it. I’m also not convinced how hygienic these are and find them a little messy to use sometimes.

None the less it’s nice to see St. Ives doing a cleansing stick as it’s testimony how they seem to have a knock for getting involved in launching some unique skincare offerings at the drugstore. Just this Summer they introduced thee first ever Facial Oil Scrub.

Let’s take a look my review below.

Revlon Dream in Nude Super Lustrous Lipgloss Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Revlon Dream in Nude Super Lustrous Lipgloss is a new shade that launched with the Revlon Color Charge Spring 2018 Collection that’s launching in drugstores now. Super Lustrous Lipgloss launched back in 2013 and if anything at all you’d think they’d be disappearing from Revlon’s permanent collection at this point to make room for something new. But nope, here’s Revlon creating brand new shades in the line. I’m not sure if Dream in Nude is limited edition as there is no word on the packaging stating as such. The entire Color Charge Collection has actually been trademarked which leads me to believe it’ll be added to the permanent Revlon Collection but I don’t have official, confirmed information about this.

None the less, I decided to pick up Dream in Nude as I thought it would make a rather great companion piece to the Revlon Blank Canvas Super Lustrous Lipstick I picked up that also launched with this collection and I was right. The two shades pair up and play nicely together but Dream in Nude is actually pigmented enough to work perfectly on its own as well.

I find the release of nudes in this collection interesting since it is a very colorful collection with many bright shades such as blue and fuchsia. It’s actually easy to overlook the collection if you’re not one that enjoys color as I almost passed it up before deciding to take a second look. I’m glad I did because I discovered some great keepers in the launch.
