Lipstick Queen Lipstick Chess Review & Swatches

I purchased this item and I receive a small commission if you shop using the links in this post.

Lipstick Queen Lipstick Chess ($24) is a new collection of lipstick shades inspired by the classic strategic game of chess. A long time ago, when 14.4k modems were all the rage, MSN had dial up online service plans that started at $15.95 and charged you for each additional hour, and mIRC was the underbelly of the world wide web and the place to be, their lived a Muse who loved chess. I remember playing online chess in the early nineties for hours on end, testimony of the geek I was and the one I would become.

But actually, I would guess my obsession with chess probably began even further back than that with my dad who absolutely loved to play it and checkers. You have to know, my dad is a salt of the earth European who isn’t one to sit down and play games. My dad had a ton of patience and took the time to painstakingly teach me to play and to this day we still enjoy a game together. I’ve always butted heads with him as we are so much alike yet we can never agree with each other on anything. But when we play, we sit in absolute silence, enjoying each others company without every even saying more than a few words.

Well, yeah, so, that’s my story about chess…!

I thought the introduction of a chess inspired lipstick collection rather different. Lipstick is beauty, beauty is, well, not necessarily geeky and chess is a bit on the geeky side of the fence. Combining both words seemed quite interesting. Each shade in this collection represents one of the six players on a chess board. The king, the queen, the knight, the bishop, the rook, and of course, the pawn.

Let’s take a look!

New Makeup and Beauty You Can Get At Target

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Target, the place you hope to run in and out of for a replenishment of your favorite toothpaste or to restock on toilet paper. But that never really happens does it. You go in with ten dollars gripped tightly in your hand and you come out with a receipt saying you spent over $200.

I have a theory Target stores might just be build over the pits of hell. I think I heard a whisper once or twice when entering the sliding doors that said, “Come to the dark side! We have Method Hand Soap, organic dog food, and limited edition, exclusive haute couture from designers like Jason Wu! Join us!”

Needless to say there are a ton of new makeup and beauty items you can get now at Target and Target.com.

Here’s a look!

As soon as I saw the palette’s artwork I instantly thought of those adorable Valentine’s Day cards I gave out as a child! It’s just too cute.

The unique thing about the palette is the fact that Sugarpill isn’t shy about color. The red looks outstanding in this palette and I’m very, very eager to see it in person.

  • Wink (foiled soft baby pink champagne)
  • Text Me (warm matte brown)

How to Find Some Inner Peace and Beauty Amidst Chaos

We all live busy lives whether that life includes kids and staying at home with them or a full-time job that you’re communicating to daily or going to school and getting your course work done. Everyone has a life, a story, and tasks that they do daily to get through their day. It can be beautiful chaos at times where as other days it can be incredibly difficult. I am, ever, always an optimist. Even during some of the worst times, I always tell myself that this, too, shall come to pass. Because we can’t have the good times without the bad. Life would be boring if it was always good, all the time. Hell, we’d be here sitting around ranting because nothing bad ever happened if it was sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns daily. Sometimes the bad times add a little spice! And most days, if you’re lucky, you can look back on the bad times and laugh about how worried or horrible you felt at that point in your life and how silly you were for letting it get you down.

Lately, chaos is the order of the day.

But I have good news for you.

The world is not over, the world is not ending, and the zombies are not roaming the earth in terrifying hordes. And you know what? You’re going to be just fine.

But as chaos reigns supreme at the moment here a few ways to find some inner peace and beauty amidst it all.
