And you thought highlighter was dying out for Spring 2017? Think again! The new Make Up For Ever Star Lit Liquid and Make Up For Ever Lit Powder proves all your Spring 2017 Makeup and Beauty Predictions wrong. Or at least mine! I thought at some point we’d see highlighters phase out a little bit for Spring 2017 but so far, they are coming at us full force! Look at Stila Spring 2017, there are three new cushion highlighters to choose from! Not to mention the new Kat Von D Alchemy Alchemist Holographic Palette! And I see a good deal of other brands releasing more highlighters.

So yeah, that highlighting trend isn’t quite over yet and these new Star Lit Liquids and Powders are testimony to that.

It’s here! The Urban Decay Afterdark Eyeshadow Palette ($49) launched at Sephora.com today! The Urban Decay Afterdark Eyeshadow Palette is packed up with 10 gorgeous jewel-toned eyeshadow shades and is available exclusively for a limited time at Sephora for Spring 2017.

Considering Urban Decay has been going nude lately, I’m sure it’s a great relief and refreshing change to see the Afterdark Eyeshadow Palette (as well as the recent Urban Decay Full Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette, did you see that blue look I did with it?) contains an array of beautiful jewel tones.

Here’s a look (review and swatches upcoming soon!).

Sonia Kashuk Leaves Target Brand

Sonia Kashuk Facet-nating Ten-Piece Brush Set

As you know Sonia Kashuk’s social media accounts have been mysteriously closing down. Allegedly Sonia is stepping down from her Target brand. I don’t see an official release about this news but a few people mentioned that she made an announcement on Facebook about it. There’s also one on her Instagram that states she’ll be stepping down as the creative director of the brand!

Update: Sonia’s line is now completely clearanced at Target and they will no longer be carrying the color cosmetics but makeup bags and brush sets will be available going forward.

I know as of now most of her social accounts are closed and soniakashuk.com leads to www.target.com. Where as before it lead directly to her official site.

Like many of you, I have been a long time fan of Sonia’s Target Makeup Collection. Her seasonal releases are stellar and her permanent collection is pretty darn brilliant as well. I’m just making a prediction but I think Target will likely keep Sonia’s products around however, I think it’ll be limited to her makeup bags and brushes. I’m doubtful they’ll be seasonal color collections as there once were and I feel at some point they may even completely eliminate her permanent line to make room for some other upcoming brand. I hope I’m wrong.

It comes with great shock that Bobbi Brown is also stepping down at the end of 2016 and now Sonia too? I wonder what other sad news the makeup world has in store for us before 2017 arrives.

Bobbi Brown Leaving Bobbi Brown Cosmetics At The End of 2016

Bobbi Brown The Nude Library 25th Anniversary Edition

If you read the news yesterday you likely already know Bobbi Brown is leaving Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. It’s confirmed news that Bobbi will leave her namesake makeup brand behind at the end of this year much to my shock.

Bobbi’s an accomplished makeup artist but I’ll honestly say that when I picture her, I instantly think of her makeup brand. It’s the first thing that pops into my head when I think “Bobbi Brown”.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was started in 1991 and was sold to Estee Lauder in 1995 and since that time Bobbi has always been closely involved with the brand’s operations which is why this is such shocking news.

I look forward to seeing what 2017 brings for both Bobbi Brown personally and also Bobbi Brown Cosmetics because for a long time now the brand has staggered a little bit in my opinion. The introduction of celebrity faces like Katie Holmes and Kate Upton was one of the most interesting changes for the brand but also, I think we can all agreed that the line has been hit or miss for the past three years. The formulas on many items has seemed to have changed and the repetitive shades in each limited edition palette release has become a sore spot for fans of the brand. This Holiday season, there’s been a good deal of 25th Anniversary releases such as the Bobbi Brown The Nude Library 25th Anniversary Edition. I guess this was Bobbi’s way of going out with a bang!

Bobbi’s makeup line has been an inspiration to me and a fond favorite for many years. I’m curious to see where Bobbi goes in 2017 and what we can expect to see from her in the future. And most important as a fan of her brand, I look forward to see what Estee Lauder does with Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in the future.

What do you think of Bobbi Brown leaving her brand?
