Yay or Nay: Mineral Foundation

mineral makeup

I remember when mineral foundation was as huge as highlighters and matte lipsticks. What do you think, was it early 2000s when Bare Minerals was blowing up the makeup world? I remember infomercials featuring Bare Minerals being applied apparently to women who had unknowingly gone to the Mall of the America that day not realizing they’d come out of that mall with their mind blown courtesy a new mineral foundation.

Holy Mineral Madness Batman! I’m flawless!

Those commercials were really fun.

Needless to say, they also sold me on the fact that I NEEDED mineral foundation in my life like ASAP. Not yesterday, not last week, not two minutes ago, but RIGHT NOW! Obviously I was delusional about the fact that mineral foundation sucks hard on drier skin.

And also…

Bismuth oxychloride. Forged in Hell by Lucifer himself or Tim Curry whichever you like. Instead of “eat, drink…” He’d be standing over you saying, “Buff, Tap…” Bismuth can only be compared to letting loose a bunch of tiny ants under your skin and having them crawl around rather rapidly.

Beauty Survival: Meeting the Parents

Beauty Survival

It’s Sunday, you’re laying around in your pajamas binge watching Supernatural and eating a big bowl of Lucky Charms cereal with milk dribbling down your face because your mouth is hanging open as Dean just ripped off his shirt on screen.

Finally! We get to see some bare skin.

Note: In 11 seasons we only seen the J’s with their shirt off three times as far as I counted. Twice for Jared, once for Dean. Obviously our guys are shy.

Suddenly, your phone rings.

What the hell? Why is someone disturbing you during a binge watch?

It’s your boyfriend! Yay! But wait….WHAT? He 20 minutes away and his parents are with him! They want to meet you for the first time!

What do you use to get ready to meet his parents and how are you going to do it in 20 minutes time?

Aerin Evening Rose Smells Like Roses Petals, Not the Flower, The Doll

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

When I was eight years old, my crush was invited to my birthday party. This was huge for me because although he lived in my neighborhood, he went to another school, so I rarely saw him. People, this was love truly! I remember he used to play basketball in the park with his friend Ryan and every day they’d walk up the hill past my house to go home, and I’d stare longingly out my bedroom window at him while I was working on my homework.

Anyway, he was the first boy to gift me a doll, Rose Petals. I’m telling you this because Aerin Evening Rose smells like Roses Petals, not the flower, the doll! I remember smelling that doll for the first time. It smelled like young love! Ha..I’m kidding. She smells sweet of roses with a slight smokiness. It was a very pretty smell for a doll, and I promise there was no weird plastic fragrance going on.

Aerin Evening Rose smells exactly like the doll! I went to dinner last night with my sister, and we did a little Lord & Taylor Friends and Family damage. While I was browsing fragrances, I misted myself with Aerin Evening Rose. I always forget how much this evokes the memory of being eight and madly in love with the boy from the house around the corner that went to different school.

Aerin Evening Rose

If you like rose fragrances, this is for you. It contains notes of blackberry which gives it a little bit of a sweet jammy note. This is combined with a gorgeous Bulgarian rose followed by a sultry cognac note. I’ve always been a fond fan of rose fragrances especially ones done right and Aerin gets it all right. This is sexy, sultry, but also flirty and sweet

After I got home, I changed my clothes and jumped into bed with my friend Mattie to watch some TV, and he said, “What are you wearing!?” I was stunned that after changing clothes that the scent was still so evident. It turns into a rather warm, comforting rose at the dry down which obviously lingers on skin well if he could still smell it after I changed my clothes.

I love fragrances like this one. Ones that not only evoke memories but ones that create conversation and have people asking you what it is you smell like because they obviously like what they are smelling!

Aerin Matchbox Gift Set

I wouldn’t say go out and buy a big old bottle of Aerin Evening Rose just yet but try out the Aerin Matchbox Gift Set for $20 at Sephora.com and you can experience almost all of the Aerin fragrances before committing to a big buy!

Who knows maybe one will evoke memories of being 8 and being in love for the first time.
