It’s Not True That Sol de Janeiro’s Delícia Drench Body Butter Attracts Spiders

Sephora wasn’t quick enough to catch recent reviews of the Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter for Intense Moisture and Skin Barrier Repair which said the formula attracts spiders (particularly wolf spiders). Actually the review is still up (so, maybe our theory that Sephora deletes reviews isn’t true?). At the moment a few reviews still live at sephora.com say:
“Cream is great but it brings along spiders I don’t know how to get rid of them they sleep with me shower with me eat with me. They are always watch they see me writing this review… help”
“If you’re scared of wolf spiders- watch out for these lotions lol. I wanted to love them sooo bad, but one of the ingredients is like kryptonite to wolf spiders! When I put it on instantly one will come out. Normally I’ll see one every like 3 years, used this and it was every day. I stopped using it and haven’t seen one since…. oh and one time, the spider wanted to eat whatever ingredient it is so bad that it chased me. I swear on everything. I’d run left, it ran left, I ran right, it ran right. Like it was legit following the scent. And no, the scent isn’t that good, nothing a $5 vanilla cream can’t match. So yeah, do be careful if you’re frightened of spiders, especially the big wolf ones. Also, plz don’t hurt them if you do wear this & they appear. Use a cup and put them outside. Sorry for a disappointing review.”
“Loved this product, until the spiders came! As I am writing this a military of spiders has taken me captivate. SOS please send help!”
“Smells good, seems like wolf spiders agree..!”
“Mine came with all the wolf spiders I could ever possibly want without having to pay anything extra! Looking forward to more spiders to come in 2024!”
We even have a few “spider” Tiktokers already testing the cream out to see if it attracts their beloved jumping spiders. One girl who owns five different rare jumping spiders has said she’s been using the cream for a week and “will report back” how her spiders respond to it. Another sprayed a bunch of tissues with the fragrance and laid them out in her bathroom along with a Nest Cam to see if the scent would attract them. People are dedicated to testing this theory out!
