Is the Ulta Love Your Skin Event Really Expensive This Year?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Dude, does it feel like the Ulta Love Your Skin Event was a bit expensive this year? I think today is like one of the few days we got an item that was a little under $20 bucks (Origins GinZing Brightening Eye Cream with Vitamin C & Niacinamide for $19.50) but most all the items this month have been $30+ dollars. Or am I crazy? All of this the sales pick from this year seems really expensive and not so much of a sale at all! I felt like I was just paying regular price for them. I guess this is testimony to how high prices have gotten lately on beauty.

I do appreciate the fact they offer free shipping on any order for Diamond and Platinum Members when shopping the sale! That’s always such a great perk. But really, it’s not such a perk because you’re getting free shipping anyway since most items are costing over $30 bucks LOL!

Lucky enough not a lot appealed to me from the sale this year. I normally end up stocking up on a few staples but nothing really caught my eye. I miss the days they would have Lancome Bi-Facil on sale for 50% off. I used to grab a few bottles. Now they only do Clinique Take the Day Off Eye Makeup Remover and it’s just not as good as Bi-Facil. Oh well, I guess it’s good as money saved right?

What do you think of the Ulta Love Your Skin Event this year? Is it a bit expensive?

Bath and Body Works x Sweethearts Arrives for Valentine’s Day But…

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Valentine’s Day 2025 has arrived at Bath and Body Works and a new collaboration with Sweethearts is available. The Sweethearts x Bath and Body Works Collection is a new, limited-edition launch that features the nostalgic Sweethearts Classic Conversation Hearts. Because really, nothing says Valentine’s Day like a hard, stale piece of chalk-like candy am I right? No but seriously, I love the idea of this but I actually hate the texture and taste of Conversation Hearts. They’re awful but no doubt, they bring back all sorts of memories of Valentine’s Day celebrations gone by when I was a kid. I remember them being given out in grade school when I was a kid or getting them from my parents as a Valentine’s Day treat. Come to think of it they taste like they were sitting around from grade school LOL! They just aren’t an appealing candy to me but I wonder if I want to smell like them?

Bath and Body Works x Sweethearts has an entire collection of products scented like the old school treat with notes of candied grape, sweet berry and powdered sugar. I suspect it isn’t a spot on dupe for the candy but more of a Bath and Body Works interpretation of the scent! I can’t confirm though as I haven’t seen the collection in stores as of yet. I will say Bath and Body Works went all out with the launch! You can get the Bath and Body Works 4EVER Sweet scent aka Sweethearts Collection in body mist, body lotion, shower gel, candles, antibacterial hand gel, and more!

But most importantly, did I mention that Bath and Body Works Sweetheart Cherry is back for Valentine’s Day 2025? This is one of my favorite cherry scents and I think Bath and Body Works did a great job with it last year and I’m happy to see it returning. Although, I will say, it never did go away completely as it was on and off sale on the website almost all of last year! However, it’s been repackaged and re-released for the Valentine’s Day season!

Are you excited to try the new Bath and Body Works x Sweethearts Collection? I REALLY need to start saying no to Bath and Body Works as I have enough to last me two lifetimes but they keep dropping these cool scents that I really want!

Bath and Body Works x Sweethearts is available now!

Makeup I’m Not Buying this Week

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I’m back with my negative thoughts and rants about what makeup I’m not buying this week. Because you know we all love a grumpy Muse moment.

Spring 2025 Makeup releases are dropping around the clock and I’m seeing a few pastels in the mix for example, HUDA BEAUTY Ube Birthday Cake Easy Bake Blurring Loose Baking & Setting Powder. This lilac with subtle pink shade is the newest color in Huda’s popular setting power formula. Allow me to date myself to when I really liked lilac correctors for brightening up my face. For example, I can go all the way back to Signature Club A by Adrienne Lavender Under Makeup Base which is still sold to this day! I was all about using it till I realized it was making me look like a ghost. So yeah, I’m skipping this one. I will say I do see people with medium to deeper tones that are reviewing and using this and I just want to see them without the filters and extra lighting because I have a feeling it doesn’t look as great as they are saying in their videos. I think it’s best suited to a fairer skin tone but I couldn’t be completely wrong. Speaking from my own experience these shades just never work out for me.

They also, launched a new Blush Filter Soft Glow Liquid Blush in the shade Ube Cream and that one is a nope for me too. Just can’t pull that one off either without looking like rigor mortisset in.

The Oddest Business Deal Ever is Sephora at Kohl’s and Kohl’s Closing Stores Now

As you know Sephora entered a deal with Kohl’s to bring us Sephora at Kohl’s. Stores were completely revamped to create an entire Sephora experience within Kohl’s and even had their own entrances at theses locations.

I always thought JCPenny and Kohl’s was an odd fit for Sephora. Ulta was over there doing the most to woe Target and insert themselves into hundreds of Target locations and it felt like a marriage most perfect. But Sephora deciding hey, how about we go and partner up with Kohl’s felt like a marriage most unusual. I just associate Sephora with a certain luxury where as JCPenny and Kohl’s are a more affordable department store option. It didn’t seem a good fit.

Now things are even more tricky because Kohl’s is about to close 27 locations!
