The Sephora Holiday 2022 has arrived today and it brings a selection of gifts featuring brushes, makeup palettes, and more. The Wishing You Advent Calendar and Wishing You Blockbuster Multi-Use Makeup Palette are probably the stars of the show but all in all, I’ll be honest and say a lot of the palettes and makeup sets look rather cheap and cheesy. I remember Blockbuster Palettes being much, much nicer! I even reviewed one a long time ago and actually enjoyed it. The collection isn’t even festive! It has bright shades of yellow, blue, and green packaging which just give off Spring or Summer vibes but nothing truly festive. What’s really weird is they don’t follow any rhyme or reason with the collection. It starts off green, yellow, and blue and it moves to a light blue snowflake design and goes into some black packaging. I have no idea what the theme is!??!?

I guess these are excellent options for tweens but I can’t rightfully see anyone in their late 20s and upward actually dishing out money on any of these makeup palettes or color sets. The worst part about them is the color selections. Pale blues, weird shades of pink, it feels very 1960s! For example, the Sephora Mini Wishing You Blockbuster Palette is a mix of the weirdest shades I’ve ever seen in my life. It feels a bit tropical but fails miserably! Hey, I’m all about fun shades but this is such a chaotic shade range! That’s just one example but the rest of the eyeshadow palettes are absolutely no better! I’m legit doing a Jack Skellington over here and yelling at my monitor, “WHAT’S THIS? WHAT’S THI!?”
I will say the brush sets do seem to dominate the collection. They have many makeup brush gift sets and in my experience, they are always rather good quality. But all in all, the Sephora Holiday 2022 Collection is just rather boring, uneventful, and not Holiday-ish in the least. This collection is really phoned in! Oddly, Sephora is very protective of their image and how they are portrayed so it puzzles me why they’d launch a collection with their name printed on it that gives off cheap made-in-China vibes. Nothing against makeup made in China by the way but I’ve seen better makeup collections from brands like BH Cosmetics or small indie brands. This is seriously a disappointment.
