I noticed that Too Faced started injecting a little Better Than Sex Mascara into their daily social life again. I see you Too Faced! I know your evil master plan! The seasonal makeup trends are shifting slowly this year but whenever we creep into a new season Too Faced likes to throw a little Better Than Sex Mascara into our universe to freak with our minds. It’s their perfect marketing master plan to make us think about buying a new tube of Better Than Sex Mascara even when we don’t want or NEED one. If we see it enough we’ll be conditioned to want it.

For some reason Too Faced is like that girl (ME!) wearing a neon green eyeshadow shade who happens to be convinced it’s her perfect shade of eyeshadow! That’s Too Faced! Simply sitting around crowing about about how great Better Than Sex Mascara is when it’s really not all that and a bag of chips. They really think they have something here. No offense at all if you’re a lover of Better Than Sex Mascara but I happen to be convinced it’s one of thee most over hyped about mascaras in the beauty world. And Covergirl Lash Blast…Oh and Maybelline Great Lash! Who the hell is wearing Great Lash? If you are we demand an intervention!

And P.S. It is so not better than sex…!

All seriousness, I do not understand the joys of Better Than Sex Mascara. It does absolutely nothing for my lashes. I mean, the formula doesn’t clump thankfully and it doesn’t leave me with weird, spidery lashes but it also doesn’t do much in the ways of volume and length for me.

It’s just a crappy mascara that set me back $27 bucks.

But like all good marketing sometimes I’ll get re-drawn into those Too Faced social posts or advertisements enticing me to believe that a mascara is better than sex. And some smart part of me is like, “Maybe I should give it another chance!” like a girl actively seeking out the one man that’s completely toxic for her but she can’t stay away from.

Thankfully, my logical side steps in with a big hell no.

And this, my dear friends, is how I really feel about Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I fart in its general direction.

Good Morning friends!

I hope you had your best weekend ever! It’s Monday. You know what Monday means right? Monday means it’s a fresh start. If you messed up yesterday or last week or last month you can use Monday as a way to reboot the system and start all over again.

Maybe you went off your diet and ate the cake, maybe you had a really unproductive work week and procrastinated a little more than you should have, maybe you had a fight with your bestie or your sister, maybe you didn’t do the laundry AGAIN….

Whatever it is don’t worry! Today’s a fresh new day. A complete clean slate for you to reboot and restart. I believe in you and I know you can start this week off right! You totally got this and so do I.

Just remember you’re beautiful (inside and out), you’re stronger than you think, and you can conquer the world if you want to!

If you are conquering the world might I suggest you do it in your very best red lipstick 😉

Go forth and storm the castle like the bad ass princess or prince you are.

The dog days of Summer are upon us but all I can think about is wearing Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum as I take a long walk around the grounds of Lyndhurst on a cool autumn day. There’s something magical about Fall days at Lyndhurst especially when the early morning sun hits the mansion in just the right way and reflects off the windows. Around that time of the year a cool breeze will flow from the Hudson River and ruffle your hair as you walk along the drive leading to the mansion. I like to imagine what it would be like over 180 years when horse drawn carriages made their way up the drive to drop off fancy ladies and their gentlemen for a dinner party.

The gothic revival style of the home also makes me think of the passionate Mr Rochester who yearned for the challenge that the witty and clever Jane Eyre set fourth for his mind. It reminds me even the plain, nerdy, boring girls like me get their happily ever after after all.

As sit here early this morning and the sun starts to peek its wary head out and bath my home office window in its soft glow I felt the need to wax poetry to the tune of Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia. Gardenia always plays an important role in my fragrance life. It reminds me of my grandmother’s house in Europe. It was such a strange house with a large garage on the bottom of the house and a big staircase that lead up to the main house. It never entered my mind back then, as I was too young to think about it, but how my aging grandparents did those steps up and down several times a day is sort of amazing and a nod to their strength and good health. There used to a river that ran through the back of the house and just below the stairs, a garden filled with all sorts of different flowers and yes, you probably guessed, gardenias were mixed in there. My entire Summer vacation was spent going back and fourth by car (about an hour drive) to have lunch with them. My grandmother was incredible as she was always so attentive to me and my sister and our picky American palate. There would be fresh bread, Caldo verde soup, black olives, a bottle of red wine for my grandfather, and ham and butter sandwiches, and of course, Bolinos de Bacalhau. She did her best to make the things she’d think we’d eat.

But it was the gardenias that always bring me back to those days. I can close my eyes and smell them and to this day and they’ll always bring me back to really warm Summer days spent eating lunch at my grandparents house.

Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum sounds like it’ll evoke Summer and Fall. The pear and the brown sugar are what bring forth that cool, Fall vibe but with those delicious fruity and gourmand notes they inject white Gardenia and jasmine. Will the pear and the brown sugar give the blend a warm note? Will the gardenia and the jasmine dominate and bring us a beautiful, delicate floral scent?

I need to smell this and find out for myself.

Interestingly enough they went with a pink elongated bottle that reminds me of a shampoo or a shower gel. Another interesting thing? The addition of Miley Cyrus as the Ambassador for the scent and a campaign that features her journey through a candy pink world inspired by Japanese animation. Hmmm……!

Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Eau de Parfum does so intrigue.

Brian Ralph Johnson (the Breakfast Club), McLovin (Superbad), Edward “Ed” Nygma (Gotham), just give me all the geeks. As a complete dorky geek myself I find something terribly attractive about the underdogs! Screech had a certain je ne sais quoi! Years later he created that sex tape and was scarred for life after seeing it. My sweet, innocent Screech in a sex tape!
