Sephora Came In Like a Wrecking Ball and Ruined Kohl’s Beauty Department In My Humble Opinion

Sephora ruined Kohl’s beauty, fragrance, and makeup department in my humblest opinion. As you may Sephora will be located inside Kohl’s starting Fall 2021. There will be 200 Kohl’s locations as of the start of the back to school season that will have a built in Sephora store with its own entrance and over 2500 square feet of space dedicated to beauty, makeup, and fragrance. This big move is in direction competition with Target’s deal to move Ulta into their stores.

I haven’t been to Kohl’s in a while now but I do tend to navigate around their website from time to time because they have a really good beauty section with a lot of cool fragrances and brands. Plus a lot of it is always on sale which makes for some interesting pick ups.

I was talking to my friend the other night about Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely and she was like, “Oh I don’t know it!” and I was like, “Dude it’s lovely!” Yeah, that came out of mouth sounding dorky AF but whatevers….! Anyway, suddenly I found myself craving Sarah Jessica Parker BORN LOVELY. I wanted to blind buy it for some reason. I remember seeing it on the Kohl’s website at Christmas but never dove in. I actually like Lovely a lot even though I’m not much of a floral fan so surely a blind buy of Born Lovely wouldn’t be a great chore.

I quickly whisked my way over to the Kohl’s website only to realize the early Summer sale they had that was bomb dot comb meant that they technically cleared out of all beauty. Lorac, Real Techniques, Jennifer Lopez fragrances, and yes, Sarah Jessica Parker was all gone. No, Juicy Couture, no Pixi, it all vanished! They still carry some drugstore brands like Neutrogena but 99.9% of the beauty brands they did carry before Sephora are now gone.

I’m actually really sad about this as I thought the Juicy exclusives, the cool Escada fragrance launches, and all the other little brands they carried were awesome. Hell, I’ll go ahead and say they seemed to have more of a beauty department before Sephora than they do now that Sephora will be located in stores (and online).

This is likely part of the contract between Sephora and Kohl’s as I’m sure Sephora doesn’t want attention taken away from their beauty department. I’m not sure what’s happening in stores but I imagine Kohl’s will dismantle the larger beauty and fragrance section they have in stores as they have online.

Sorry Sephora but I think you ruined the Kohl’s beauty department!

Has anyone noticed this?

Just Remember This I’m Nobody But Who Are You? Are You Nobody Too?

You know, it’s 5AM at the moment and my sleep fog brain is overthinking life, the universe, and everything. I don’t really mention the blog’s anniversary but I did a post on Instagram recently just to acknowledge that I’ve been doing this way too damn long (Since 2007! What the hell am I still doing here? What are you still doing here? Aren’t you bored with me by now?). This blog started out as a joke really! On My Space in fact! My x boyfriend’s father, a kind, creative little British man, would write weird and wonderful posts on my Space about life (and even beauty). If you’re here long enough you totally remember dear old Peter. Till this day people still ask me, “How’s Peter doing?” He just made that much of an impact in the beauty blogging world.

Peter had me thinking about how much he inspired me to write absolute bullsh*t on this little spot on the Internet. How some of what I said or mentioned would appear in the New Year Times, the New York Post, and even traveled as far as Korea to appear in Etude House’s newsletter. And some of what I write would end up in the hands of people I never really intended to see it to begin with. It also reminded me how carefully I need to choose my words as they may come across hurtful, rude, or even mean spirited.

I just wanted to remind each and every one of you that I’m absolutely nobody! And hey, if you’re nobody too maybe we can create a gang and hang out! That means anything and everything you read here is nothing. Just the random musings of some weird girl on the Internet.

In all seriousness, what I write here is insanity with a little dash of stupid. It’s me pounding away hard on a keyboard as I wax poetry about life, lipstick, and random things that enter into my universe. Never take it seriously and always call me out if you feel I’ve said something wrong or hurt you in someway when I said it. Believe me when I say that was never, ever my intention and it would hurt me more than you knowing something I typed on here somehow hurt your feelings or came across rudely or even felt mean spirited. That’s not me. That’s never me.

I hope you know that.

I’m nobody. A nobody that writes silly things on the Internet about life, the universe, and everything who never did believe that 42 was the answer to it all.

Why Is Paco Rabanne Phantom Eau de Toilette The Bestest Thing Ever Since Dennis DeYoung Sang Domo Arigato Misuta Robotto?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Someone literally woke up at Paco Rabanne headquarters one day and said get the marketing team we’re going to make a new men’s fragrance and pour it into a robot shaped bottle! And that my friends, is how Phantom Eau de Toilette came about. I mean, the meek aren’t technically going to inherit the Earth! It’s the damn robots that get first dibs! I know these things! I watched Terminator!

As a life long Styx fan and a complete nerd for robots I’m being honest when I say that Paco Rabanne Phantom Eau de Toilette speaks to my soul and reminds me of a Transformer. Hell, I might break out and start singing You Got the Touch now! It may or may not sound like the Dirk Diggler rendition!

Some small, tiny part of me wishes there was also a women’s version available that comes in a pink robot bottle. I’m so sorry but I’m a princess and a pretty little pony that likes all the pink things!

But sadly, we only have a men’s version for now. Not that I’m averse to wearing a men’s cologne especially one with these notes.

Paco Rabanne Phantom Eau de Toilette is a warm, spicy blend of energizing lemon and vetiver, with creamy lavender and woodsy vanilla. I feel like I need this. I do right? I need a robot perfume in my life. Eh but hey, if the robot isn’t doing it for you I would recommend that big old stuffie bear that Jeremy Scott is shilling to us!

Paco Rabanne Phantom Eau de Toilette is available now.

Where to buy

My Best Friend Told Me I Can Tell You About How Her Secret Love of Old Juicy Couture (But I Would Have Told You Anyway)

My best friend ever always the voice of reason in my active, overthinking brain!

She texted me this morning and said, “IZZY!” I always love when the text starts with my name in caps. It means something really mundane happened but it’s really MAJOR in our weird and wonderful world and relationship. I won’t disclose with she told me but yeah, it was really mundane but major for us haha…..

Girl, if you’re reading this, I love everything about our special brand of weird and I love you for always making me feel better when I start overthinking sh1t. This is the same girl that told me we may both be cheugy and readily admits our membership in the basic bitch club. She always speaks to my soul.

After we discussed a few things I mentioned to her that I may have overstepped some line in a post I wrote mentioning someone and she quickly told me, “Listen you can tell everyone I have a deep love of 1990 Juicy Couture Barrel Purses and I still love the Body Shop’s Pink Grapefruit scent!” Honestly, don’t tell her, but I probably would have told you anyway but wouldn’t have mentioned who said it to me because come on…Juicy Couture vintage purse love is something to make fun of am I right?

And green tea promptly exited my nose as I snorted in joy because gosh, I miss a good Juicy Couture Barrel purse moment….! Even though we may or may not have laughed a little when she texted me a picture this weekend of a long line she was standing in and the girl in front of her had one and of course, I promptly texted back, “THAT BAG!”. Hey, it was a damn good decade and like fine wine those Juicy Couture purchases are a gift that keeps giving.

This begs to question, can we get away with strolling out of the house with Juicy plastered across our ass and a vintage barrel purse slung over our shoulder? I mean, it happens often enough right? What’s old is always new again at some point! I’m personally waiting for the return of pop beads, a KISS revival where everyone who likes them is deemed a devil worshiper, and maybe bangs…like, I really, sort of want a big puffy bang moment in my life again. I remember in Freshman year I was trying so hard to grow my hair out because I simply hated my bangs but now I want them back. Full disclosure I did have some weird mullet moment when I was in grade school. Business in the front, party in the back!

Moral of the story, I will rag on you and make fun of you for all your old, vintage likes but of course, I have all the same ones that you are given full permission to rag on me about.

So have at it. Tell me all about your love of Caboodles, binging Jem reruns, and wearing EXCLAMATION (I know you still secretly have a bottle hanging out somewhere. Hell, I still wear Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden! Shhh our secret).
